A Woman In The Rain [Open] Saeko-Verdana_zpsf33963d8

A pained loud howl echoed through the city, but heard by only those with enough Reiryoku to allow it. It was yet another hollow; this was quite common in this area of the world, especially in this city. It was Karakura Town, the place where the hollows seemed to flock and, because of this where, many Shinigami were sent to watch over. This time, the one sent was Saeko Mikage, the Lieutenant of Squad Two. Why was a Lieutenant sent on guard duty? Because the one actually supposed to be on this mission was sick and Saeko allowed them a break by stepping in for them. A certain previous Captain would likely tell them to suck it up and get to work, but she wasn't like that. Saeko wasn't stuck with her head up her ass, so she understood that everyone got sick, everyone got tired, and everyone needed a break. There was nothing wrong with allowing a single break to someone who actually needed it, so that is why she was here.

Saeko Mikage was currently standing on top of the roof of a three story building looking down onto the slightly empty street below, a hollow disintegrating behind her. It was an easy job for her and she didn't mind getting away from the Seireitei. It was unfortunate that her time here was almost over. This was the only place where she finally felt at peace and was away from the nosy subordinates that constantly asked her questions and sucked up to her. Ever since the incident, Saeko had become a different person and she knew that. She became someone who intimidated those who approached her. She often watched people step off to the side or completely change direction to avoid her while in the Seireitei. Others, afraid to get on her bad side and hoping to gain favor with her, chose to be overly friendly. It was those people that she was trying to get away from. It was those people that made her feel so uncomfortable.

So now she was here, standing above the street and watching the few people that stood below. It was night and the moon was high in the sky; unfortunately the city was too bright to allow her to see the stars. She settled with the people below. Glancing over to a dark alley, she sprang herself from the buildings edge and shunpo'd over to it. Taking a few steps into the alley's darkness, she saw a man nudging at a body. It was her body; well, it was her gigai at least. It was obvious that this human could not see her standing there, so she stepped over and quickly returned to her gigai. “Are you dead?” the man spoke worriedly toward her as she merged with the fake body and she opened her eyes. “No.” she stated bluntly, causing the man to stumble back, shocked at her sudden waking. She stood up and nodded to him, neither of them saying any more as she stepped out of the alley and onto the streets.

From there, she just began walking. She had no aim, no where to really go. She kept her head low and her eyes to the floor. When something caught her eye, she'd glance to it, but nothing more. Saeko often kept to herself, even if she was one to catch the attention of others. She was currently wearing a red jacket over a dark blue colored traditional kimono with brown boots. At this point she was soaked. She had no umbrella to block the rain from assaulting her from above. It didn't bother her, but that was only because she understood that she had no way of stopping it from happening. Instead, she just continued walking along the main streets of Karakura, watching and waiting for something to happen. Though she hoped that nothing would happen for the rest of the night so she could just relax, she knew that wouldn't happen. She figured there'd be another hollow attack soon. There was always another hollow attack in Karakura.

PostSubject: Re: A Woman In The Rain [Open]   A Woman In The Rain [Open] EmptySun Jun 29, 2014 1:36 am

Somewhere nearby, a scared eep came from a female body as the hilt of a sword was pressed against her head. As the sword slowly reentered its sheathe, the body slowly faded away. As the blade fully sheathed, so did the body fully disappear. The man who wielded the blade turned and walked away, without a word. He was a Shinigami, and he was in the spiritual hotspot known as Karakura. He was tasked with clearing the area of any hollow or spirits he found. How many there were he was not told. It could have been the one he killed earlier, there could have been a nest of them. He didn't care much, it was them or some other poor fool, may as well be them to die. This Shinigami was Yuichi Sachiyo, he was a member of the 7th division. It was dark out, and the rain was making visibility even worse. Not optimum for hollow extermination, but he'd make due.

Yuichi walked along the sidewalk, passing by (and through) many humans as they went on with their life. If he could find and exterminate hollow before they cause a ruckus, it would make life for everyone a lot easier. He looked about, looking for places a hollow might come from. Alleyway? Nothing there. Maybe the unoccupied building? There appeared to be no sign of a hollow there either. They certainly didn't make life easy did they? Well if they did, he wouldn't exactly be killing them. Yuichi bent his knees, and did one solid jump up onto a power line. As he stood on the wire, he tried to get a much better feel for the area. Most people would think he was crazy to stand on an electrical line in the rain, but electricity didn't really effect him. He could be standing on exposed wire and the most he'd feel is a tickle. With a glance he looked behind him, where he heard a scream. That was his cue. Yuichi hopped rather casually onto the nearest building and began to run. Jumping from building to building, he approached the place where he heard the scream. When he got there, he didn't exactly hesitate. He fell from the building and brought his sword down. The hollow was cleaved in half by the time Yuichi landed.

He sheathed his blade...but...no victim. "Jumpy aren't you?" Spoke a voice behind him, he turned and immediately was forced to bring his blade up to block a giant mantis-like pincer. That voice sounded a lot like the person who had screamed earlier. Yuichi raised his eyebrow. "I screamed, but you Shinigami are too serious all the time. You killed him before we got to finish you." Well, he didn't need to open his mouth. That solved everything. The hollow screamed to trick Shinigami, he reacted so quickly they couldn't actually ambush him. He shoved the hollow away and took up a stance. The hollow though, didn't take any sort of fighting stance. It roared, and suddenly Yuichi felt very heavy. Son of a bitch this thing had a lot more energy than Yuichi did. He'd fall back if it wasn't for the fact the sheer weight of this energy left the hollow more agile than he was. Still, on his face he showed no sign of faltering. He just had to think of something so his sister didn't have to get the message no one ever wanted to hear.

A Woman In The Rain [Open] Saeko-Verdana_zpsf33963d8

Everything was calm for now, but Saeko was not letting her guard down. She knew that it would change sooner or later. She could sense a few random energies around the entire city, but most were human. She thought she could make up the spiritual pressure of another Shinigami somewhere near, but pushed it off. If she remembered right, there was one other person in the area anyway. She wasn't the only Shinigami on duty. A few minutes passed and she sensed two new spiritual pressures. They weren't too high, but she could tell the Shinigami heading in their direction was not exactly going to be able to take them both out. Saeko decided it was time to move. She ran toward the next alley, sat down, and exited her Gigai. From there, she shunpo'd out of sight and began heading in the direction of the hollow. As she was on her way there, the Shinigami took one of them out within half a second of entering the scene, causing her to raise an eyebrow.

There were two situations he was picturing right now. First off, this guy was a fight aggressive moron who decided to jump in because he feels he's the strongest. Of course, Saeko wasn't aware of a Squad Eleven member being in the area, so she suspected number two of the scenarios. Number two was this young Shinigami knowing he was out classed, so he did not hesitate to take the weaker one out the moment he got them in his sights, which was a smart idea since he'd need all his focus to fight the second. Of course, she was unaware that it was just someone going in and doing their job without hesitating on the matter. Either way, she shunpo'd off again and reappeared on the roof across from the alley. She looked down toward the hollow and the Shinigami to assess the situation, keeping her spiritual pressure at an all time low. "Hm." Saeko shunpo'd forward, reappearing behind the young Shinigami.

"Fight him." Saeko spoke up. In situations like this, it was common for the second person to show up and save the day, but Saeko wasn't like that. This young man needed to learn how to deal with enemies beyond his power. She would not let him die, but she would not assist him unless he actually needed it. Since she was out of her gigai, she was wearing the normal Shinigami Shihakusho and had her Lieutenants badge on her left arm. If he recognized her, he would see her as the woman that everyone feared. She always seemed to intimidating and cold to other people, so for her to be here was a little more than odd. "You will go up against creatures much stronger than you many times." she told him seriously, "Learn to fight them, or die in battle." Saeko took a few steps back and crossed her arms to watch what was going to happen. While she did that though, she did start using her own spiritual pressure to offset the hollow's just a bit, giving him a little breathing room to fight the hollow instead of being overwhelmed by it's spiritual pressure.

A Woman In The Rain [Open] SnopyYuichiSachiyo_zpsee508aa9

Yuichi was attempting to assess the appropriate solution as another, stronger, Shinigami appeared behind him. Of course, the first words out of her mouth was the obvious. He turned and just kinda looked at her. "That was the plan." Sure, Yuichi had partially fallen for a trap and no one was in danger at the moment, but a living hollow stalking around on Earth will always threaten someone. On top of that, Yuichi had no intention of dying either. He still had a little sister who probably still needed him. "If you'll excuse me lieutenant." He spoke in a respectful tone the whole time, but it was obvious he wasn't going to act like he was walking on eggshells, nor was he going to do any ass kissing. She was superior in rank and fighting strength only. As a person, all of that meant shit. He isn't one to be intimidated, nor is he one to see someone's rank and and just bend over. He will act respectfully just to keep out of trouble, but she will get no true respect (or disrespect) until he is given a reason to show either of them. Admittedly, not automatically holding his hand was a plus, as long as she isn't just leaving him to die should he be unable to handle it. Yuichi kept his blade out for now. Yes, he oddly could get a much more powerful swing when he DREW the sword in order to swing, but he shouldn't use his strongest attack as an opener. A creepy pink haired guy once said that a trump card is no longer a trump card once it has been shown to your enemy.

"Oh, so you're ugly friend is going to watch me eat you." Yuichi stopped, dropped his combat pose and just looked back and forth between Saeko and the hollow, slow at first but it sped up. "I really question your standard of beauty." As he spoke the hollow dove at him, but Yuichi hadn't ACTUALLY let his guard down. He slid to the side quickly, letting the hollow's mouth get a nice bite of sidewalk. Huh, it was easier to move now. Either way, Yuichi took the chance to swing down at the hollow. It jumped away though, so he only opened up a minor cut. Yuichi wasn't dumb, he would never let his guard down to a hollow. It was just that something that looked like THAT (that being a kinda...mosquito cheetah hybrid, a cheetah-like head and legs, mosquito wings and torso), calling Saeko ugly didn't make any sense. "Tch, annoying Shinigami." "Spout all the lies you want, it won't distract me." The hollow quickly turned and lunged forth again, but using his skill with Hoho, he quickly Shunpo'd out of the way. He only shunpo'd right next to it, but rather than swing at it, he pushed off of the ground and jumped. He flipped, and ended up placing both hands on the hollow's head, before pushing off. As he launched into the air, he held out his finger. "Hado #4, Byakurai." he fired it off towards the creature's head. In response, the hollow jumped backward to avoid it. Kidō wasn't exactly Yuichi's strong point, so that wasn't meant to hit. As the hollow jumped back Yuichi used his Hoho to give him proper footing to push off of and send himself straight back at the hollow, right where the hollow was forced to jump to.

Schk Yuichi landed on the ground behind the hollow, and upon sheathing his sword, a large cut appeared along the hollow's back. It bellowed in pain as Yuichi turned and redrew his sword. He was hoping for a deeper cut than that, but the power difference was obviously showing. The hollow turned to him, and it's insect-like wings began to open. Yuichi put up his guard, but he had no way to expect what happened. The thing shot it's wings back down with immense speed, and put it's cheetah legs in high gear. Using the wings for additional force, it SHOT forward way faster than Yuichi would have been able to react. It slammed into him hard and sent him flying into a building, as well as launching his sword into the air. He gritted his teeth in pain, and as he pulled himself off of the building he held onto his head. His sword was flying through the air, and about to impale him, but he stepped to the side at the last second and saved himself from being impaled by his own Zanpakutō. It bounced a few times, than landed just behind him. The hollow seemed to be laughing as Yuichi grabbed his Zanpakutō. As he looked back towards the hollow, it's wings were expanding once more. Really? Again? He waited until they were at full extension and immediately shunpo'd to the side. He sheathed his sword as the creature slammed into a building, and using this chance used one powerful swing to cleave the creature in half, causing it to fade as he re-sheathed his blade. Yuichi held his head as he turned to the lieutenant. "Thank you for offsetting the hollow's spiritual pressure lieutenant." He was thankful for that, what she did allowed him to take advantage of his own mobility, although part of it was a formality. He'd have preferred to just say thank you and leave it at that. "So, what is a lieutenant doing on Earth anyway? Usually they're only sent when something really big comes along, like a Menos Grande. Should I be worried." Yuichi usually wasn't talkative, but he wouldn't want to be stuck dealing with something THAT FAR out of his league, so he figured he'd inquire about it and see if he should be extra extra cautious.

A Woman In The Rain [Open] Saeko-Verdana_zpsf33963d8

"Oh, so you're ugly friend is going to watch me eat you." Saeko raised an eyebrow, but lowered it when the young man turned back toward her. She would have scolded him about turning his back to the enemy, but his turning the hollows insult away from himself tickled her funny bone. For some reason, she didn't feel like the hollow was calling her ugly, but him. She smirked for only a moment, letting out a quick and silent chuckle as the battle began. Trying the same technique on a Shinigami two times, especially in such quick succession, was a stupid idea. Saeko watched this happen and just hook her head. From there, she knew the hollow was soon going to meet his demise. It had gained a momentary lead and then lost it by being way, way too predictable. The battle ended as she assumed it would and Saeko ceased her own Reiryoku. Taking in a silent breath, she slowly let it out and sensed around the area; there was nothing else to attend to.

"Thank you for offsetting the hollow's spiritual pressure lieutenant." Saeko nodded in reply to him. "Many get intimidated or distracted when they can feel greater power within their opponent. Being able to ignore that puts you on higher ground with a creature as stupid as that." Saeko explained herself clearly and bluntly, "You did well." Since there was nothing else she needed to do at the moment, Saeko was ready to go back to walking in the rain. "So, what is a lieutenant doing on Earth anyway? Usually they're only sent when something really big comes along, like a Menos Grande. Should I be worried." he asked. She merely replied with the shake of her head. "No. A member of my squad was sick and I volunteered to fill in." she explained, "I needed a break from people anyway. Also... I need to retrieve my Gigai, do you have one? If you wish... You can join me for a drink. Or a walk in the rain." Honestly, she preferred the latter.

A Woman In The Rain [Open] SnopyYuichiSachiyo_zpsee508aa9

The first thing she did was compliment him.  Wait, this was the woman half his squad (and probably many from other squads) was afraid of?  He wasn't sure why.  Who knows, maybe some people feared someone who did their job or something.  "Most people I know are afraid of you.  Unless you have some violent tendencies that you would direct at a subordinate that I don't know about, I'm not seeing why."She was capable of compliments though, as formal as they were, so Yuichi found even less reason to be intimidated.  Yuichi was relieved when she stated that he need not worry. Good, so unless fate had a sick sense of humor, he didn't have to worry about a Menos Grande.  One of those would probably kill him easily.  Lieutenant Mikage was a bit confusing though.  She just said she needed a break from people, but she was also offering that he join her?  "I guess I'm not people then."  He was obviously joking, but his tone was almost serious.  There was JUST enough in it to signify it was a joke.  He almost took her up on the drink offer, but he didn't really drink much.  While he could, he preferred not running into his little sister acting a little...off.  "I suppose I can join you for a walk."  Standing in once place trying to detect hollow got tedious after awhile, so why not.  "Lead the way."

Note:  This post has been tripping me up for awhile, but I decided to make it short.  If it needs to be longer I can try, but since you are the lead of the thread I figure I'll let you get this going wherever and I'll go from there.

A Woman In The Rain [Open] Saeko-Verdana_zpsf33963d8

Saeko was quite the intimidating woman, she knew that. People usually smiled to show that they were friendly, she did not. Saeko felt no need to make people think she was friendly, not anymore. So when he mentioned other squad members fear of her, it wasn't entirely surprising. "Those who fear me understand very little about me, and likely never will." she stated bluntly, but also with a tone of warning behind her statement. How he took the tone was up to him. Either way, her invitation still stood. His comment on him not being 'people' was correct, she did not pick up on the joking tone. "No, you're not people." Saeko replied rather bluntly, likely causing a bit of offense for at least that moment, "You are a person, a single being. You're not a crowd, so yes, Mister Sachiyo... You are not people."

"I take it you do not like to drink?" Saeko replied when he only accepted the walk. From what she understood of people, a little alcohol with a stranger was commonly preferred over a walk. Though, she did wonder whether they were truly strangers since they work for the same people. Acquaintances? Whatever. It wasn't important. Saeko began leading Yuichi along, out of the alley, and down a street that was only inhabited by a couple more than themselves. The rain wasn't easing up, if anything it was getting worse, yet Saeko was not bothered by this at all. In fact, Saeko seemed to enjoy it, relax in it. "Silence..." she suddenly spoke out a few minutes into their walk, "It's not something that everyone enjoys... Is there... something you'd like to discuss? I cannot imagine this being very entertaining."
