Takehiko Oshima [Approved, No Tier]

Personality: When someone first sees Takehiko, they ask themselves "Is this guy really a cop?" And the answer is yes. Despite his slouch and generally uninterested look, this man is a police officer—a Senior Superintendent in fact. He is the head of Public Security Special Response Team Section 2 (SRT2), a division that isn't called out much ever since it was separated from the anti-riot unit. It is sent all across the country, although its current headquarters is in Karakura Town near the old train station. He heads it rather well... in his mind. If anyone says they have a superior like him, he gives them his condolences. However, do not be fooled into thinking he's truly inept. In fact, he was only put into the not-often-deployed SRT so he wouldn't ruffle the feathers of the higher-ups. Takehiko always responds... in an almost too calm way. Even if someone's holding a gun to his head, he'll just sit there with this dull look on his face. His always-calm look is more like an always-in-control look. He's exceptionally keen and observant. This, combined with the fact that he is actually extremely capable of predicting things makes him a magnificent officer. However, he's almost too keen. He can tell when something is just a publicity stunt and he's not afraid to have a "slip of the tongue" and reveal that he knows it. This also makes it incredibly hard to pull something over on him, such as a practical joke, or even to sneak something by him. Let's say his team does something in the middle of the night that they didn't report to him that involved using a burger place as a meeting place—and let's say that it's not something to be ashamed of either. They walk up the stairs, trying to keep quiet... but of course they can't be entirely quiet so they keep telling one another to be quiet. He approaches from behind, asking what they're doing in the same whisper. He startles the person at the rear of the line, which causes the rest to turn around and shush her... only to see Captain Oshima standing there. And then he says they're here early and offers them coffee... as well as offering them burgers from the same burger place they were at. It's more of a sign of "I know more than you think" than a sign of "You're caught." And that particular attitude is what gave him his position in SRT2.

And Takehiko always at first seems like he may not care or is out of the loop—for example stating to SRT1's commander "It's not our business," but then he'd ask the exact question they're wanting to know. And of course that also put him into SRT2. He's also a fan not of practical jokes... but of giving people the idea that he's onto them. If he starts acting strange and his division starts to ask about him (but not to him), well... he'll just pretend that nothing happens. If they ask for him to run 20 laps around the building with them for "Team Physical Fitness Training," he'll dash ahead of them and duck inside without them ever realizing a thing until they're done. He doesn't talk about his personal life much, and when he let it slip he had a daughter... well it's needless to say that SRT2 as a whole was shocked about that. In fact, most in the entire SRT don't know his actual age. He'll just reply "What do you think?" and walk off from their question... or rather sneak off. He has a habit of replying "Is that so?" And "oh really?" In a way that actually isn't sarcastic, but it has an air of "I already know."

And despite being an officer, Takehiko is first and foremost a father. If it weren't for his daughter's... well ability, he probably would've quit a while ago. However, he feels she can take care of herself for the most part, but the neighbors are always there to help. He doesn't speak about what happened to her mother, and instead just holds a newspaper or magazine higher to where his face is hidden. He loves to tease his daughter... because even though she has that ability, she still has that attitude of "HANG ON, I GOT THIS" at many times. So he'll just sit back and watch her fail... or succeed. Honestly, it doesn't really matter to him which it is, as both are a sign of progress. He's also not beneath showing up in PJs to pick her up from school... although he only does it because it's embarrassing to her. And despite her many complaints, he continues to be a heavy smoker. However, the doctors are surprised his lungs aren't worse than they are.

Natural Abilities: Aside from his mental dexterity as mentioned in his personality, Takehiko is actually skilled physically as well. You wouldn't expect it , but he's a 6th Dan in Judo and a 4th Dan in Aikido. He also has some skill with a handgun, but he'd rather not use it. His main weapon is in fact a megaphone... or a stack of dreaded report sheets. May God have mercy on those that have to fill out a report sheet.
Can See Spirits: He actually can't see them, but he definitely can feel them. Or at least he claims to.


Character Background: Takehiko doesn't talk about his childhood. Not that anything happened; it was just boring as hell. Average to above-average grades, no saving anyone, no super powers developing, no harem. He was only in the Judo club at school. The most exciting thing that happened during his childhood is that he once got to see a car crash. Other than that, it just was normal as normal can be. Even why he joined the police force was normal. It wasn't some justice-y way of wanting to save people, neither was it to shoot guns all the time and apprehend criminals. Actually, he was conned into joining because of pay. Said that he'd get about 1.5× as much as he actually gets now. He still complains about his pay and never treats people to dinner because of it.

However, his life as a police officer was where it got interesting. He wasn't some cop that apprehended every criminal, nor was he involved in some super-scandalous plot, nor even involved in a huge crime bust. No, he was just too perceptive for his own good. When the department would do publicity stunts for the sake of being a publicity stunt, he'd call 'em out. When he was sent as a decoy, he'd play it to where those that he was supposed to be distracting for would become the decoy. And sometime in this, he met a nice woman and had a kid with her—a daughter named Mina. Takehiko doesn't tell anyone if they were married, or what happened to her. For all intents and purposes she could actually be on a world-wide journey. He just avoids the questions altogether. However, she left before Mina could really remember her... so that helps Takehiko some. But soon after Mina's birth, Takehiko was transferred to the Special Response Team's newly-formed Second Division. To say they're full of misfits is to say the Atlantic Ocean is damp. Which it is, but it's also more than damp. Or is it. I actually have no clue whether to say that it is more than damp or if it is less than damp. Speaking of which I need to get a new humidifier. I need to write that down on th- ah, is this still on?
