Name: Kasumi Shimotomai (Kathrine Williams)
True Age: 15
Appearance Age: 15
Gender: Female
Height: 4'10"
Weight: 105
Appearance:Personality: Kasumi is usually quite in comparison to most people. Sure, when she was little she was cheerful, happy, energetic, and outgoing, but after the accident she changed. After losing her memories, she went through a time where she was confused about her very existence. She thought a lot to herself instead of being social. After a while, when she snapped back into normal social behavior, she came out quiet, calm, and curious. She had a child-like innocence about her that was almost inexpiable. She was quiet because she felt like she knew nothing of her surroundings. She was calm because she was unsure how to act around everyone and figured being calm would seem most normal, thought that can change depending on what's going on. She was curious because she needed to learn and that's really it. When that child-like innocence comes out, she comes off cute, blunt, and ignorant. She doesn't know everything, especially when it comes to socializing, so she acts a little strange to some people. Kasumi was forced to re-learn a lot of things and even completely learn a new language, English. After a while though, Kasumi began to show much more interest in things and became a little more talkative. So, even though Kasumi is usually very calm, quiet, and seemingly shy, once she gets to know an area or person, she'll be able to open up. In terms of trust and friendship, she is very cautious. She doesn't easily allow someone to know about her. She doesn't treat anyone badly because they aren't friends or because she doesn't feel that she can trust them, but won't let them in until she knows she can. Kasumi longs for, and at the same time, fears the return of her memories. She is unsure of how she will react if she gets them back and wonders if six years of memories is worth the nine years she's lived without them. At the same time, she wishes to know exactly who she is without the say so of her biological parents, but with her own mind and heart. Ironically, Kasumi also has a slight fear of water. Strange flashes of flowing down a river, dreams of drowning, and feelings of not being able to breathe give her this fear. It happens every now and then, and she doesn't understand why. There will be times that the feelings are so strong that she passes out, screams for help, or things along those lines. Some of these feelings get so strong that she ends up hallucinating and sees water beginning to surround her, or flood the area she's in. At times she can even see herself falling deeper and deeper into dark water.
Character Background: Kasumi was born into a very loving family of seven. She had her mother and father who worked very hard and always seemed to be happy. She had her two older sisters, Maya and Saya the twins and first born of the family. After that was her older brothers Daichi and Rin. And then there was her. Kasumi was the youngest of everyone of her brothers and sisters and was always treated like a glass doll. Everyone was very protective of the 'baby' of the family. It got to the point where Kasumi felt like she was never alone and never allowed to do anything on her own. One day, her family went camping since they had not gone since her birth. She was only six years old at the time. During their trip, her mother gave her a necklace that she promised to take care of and always hold it close. Once Kasumi got a chance, she decided to sneak off from her family and got to the river. Her older brother Rin, ten years of age at the time, followed her and began picking on her like older brothers do. He took Kasumi's necklace and held it above her head, making fun of how tiny she was compared to him. She threatened to tell their mother, which annoyed him, so he said "fine" and tossed her necklace down the river. Kasumi ran after it and Rin began walking off to leave her to find the necklace on her own. She looked for a bit and after a while she found it in the middle of the river. Unaware of the real dangers, she stepped out into the water and grabbed the necklace. As she attempted to get back to shore, she slipped on a wet rock, hit her head, and was dragged down river by a heavy current. The next thing that she knew, Kasumi woke up in a bright room with a lot of unfamiliar faces around her. The fact was, Kasumi hit her head hard enough to effect her memory and had developed Amnesia.
A family that was on vacation in the area were the ones to find her. She had woken up in their hotel room to be treated by their own personal doctor. They were all very nice and began taking care of her for a while. When no one, that they were aware of, came forward or reported their child missing, they decided to take her back home with them and raise her as their own. Their home though, was in the United States. Luckily, they always spoke to her in Japanese, so she was able to keep her normal language. After a while, once she was a lot better, they began teaching her English and Western Customs. With the years that pass, they all expected her to regain memory, but it never happened. They even renamed her Kathrine and gave her their last names, Williams. She was fully accepted into the family as one of them. She was taught to ride horseback and hunt by her "Father". Her "Mother" taught her to cook and sew. Her "sister" also taught her to fit in with Western Society, helped her with her English, and kept her up to date with the latest fashion, even though that wasn't something she really cared about. She was happy to live her life in the United States with the people she grew to know as her family and love as family as well, but some things must come to an end. While she was sleeping, people came into her room and tied her up. They blindfolded her, taped her mouth shut, and dragged her off. Hours went by and after a lot of travel, she was finally untied and the blindfold was taken off. She was then in a room with a bunch of people claiming to be her real family, her birth family. She did not remember any of them. They explained that they took her this way because they didn't have the money to hire a lawyer and take the Williams's to court.
Kathrine, now constantly being called 'Kasumi' was not easily swayed to their side of the story. At first she only wished to go home, screamed for help, and kept her distance from these people who held her prisoner. One day, a boy by the name of Rin came into her room. He sat next to her and lifted a necklace from her neck, one that she actually rarely took off. "I threw this in the river and left you there... I was just picking on you the way I normally do. I didn't think you'd fall and that we'd never see you again. It was my fault. They looked for you for years and when they finally found you, they couldn't get to you. I'm sorry I brought you back the way I did, but I couldn't handle seeing Mom and Dad so helpless." With that said, he set a picture of their entire family on her lap, got up, and walked away. It took three hours, but finally she stood up and stopped staring at that picture. It was her. She knew it was. These people were telling the truth. She only wished that she could remember something about them. At least for now... she would give them a chance and live here in Japan with them. Who knows? Maybe something will bring her memories back. And if not, she could always move back to her family in America. She only made them promise that she could call her family every now and then to check in and inform them what is going on. The Shimotomai's had no problem with that at all. They were just happy to be given a chance. And even then, Kasumi asked for them for a paternity test for some medical proof. They agreed. Everything was done and came back in the favor of the Shimotomai's. Kasumi realized that it was time to actually give these people a chance, even if they did sorta kidnap her and force her back here without even attempting to talk out the situation, but she understood why...
Natural Abilities
Natural Abilities: Icy Aura: Always controlled by her emotions, when Kasumi feels anything too strongly the air around her body becomes very cold. Sometimes it can get cold enough to freeze water and create ice on the objects around her. The only emotion this aura doesn't seem to be affected by is happiness and things related, such as excitement. When she is sad, angry, scared, confused, hurt, or nervous, the aura can act up. The stronger the emotion, the colder it becomes. The aura also only reaches out to ten feet in each direction around her. If something is passed that, they could feel it just because of regular air flow, but otherwise her actual aura does not extend beyond that.
Qi Abilities
Type: Gōngnéng (External)
Appearance change: None
Abilities: Kasumi's base power is ice. She can't create or manipulate water, only ice. This is really all she has learned about her abilities and even then the most she can do is freeze things she touches when she is not emotionally stable or focused. She has to learn more about her powers before she gets any better than this.
