Name: Aya Kosaka
Nickname: --
Gender: Female
Age Appearance: 16
True Age: 16
Height: 5'5"
Weight: 130
Appearance:Personality: Aya has had a large amount of problems in her life that have created an interesting personality within itself. Overall, she is a sweet girl who does her best to keep a smile each day, but sometimes can't find a reason to do so. She has yet to really develop any beliefs and is really just living life from day to day. Everything she cared a lot about was torn away from her so fast, that she is having a hard time opening up to find something or someone new. She can be happy, sad, a bit cheerful, and angry, but there is always something a little half-hearted about her actions and words. She can tell someone that she is happy to see them, but her tone always seems a little meaningless, like she is unsure whether she feels she is telling the truth. Aya has a calming nature about her. This doesn't mean she always keeps calm, because she doesn't. When she has a "calming nature", that means she has the ability to keep other people calm. She tries choose her words well, but sometimes fails. She is seemingly able to reach people's heart easier than others, though she has unintentionally closed her own heart off from those around her. Aya is extremely patient and forgiving of people, excluding her Father. She can deal with a lot that the world throws at her and had no problem waiting for something. She's never in a rush because she doesn't feel like she has anything important to do or anywhere important to go. Over time, she has learned how to interact with people a lot easier than when she first began going to regular school, but she still has a slight awkwardness about her. She sometimes says things that people find disturbing, odd, selfish, or rude. She is still learning how to not offend people all the time, so sometimes she will hesitate when talking to think about what she is saying before saying it.
There are a few things in life that Aya has come to enjoy. Though there isn't anything big, she has come to appreciate a lot of the smaller things. For instance, she has developed a love for art of all kinds, but strangely her favorite is chalk. She loves using chalk to draw pictures, erase, and then start again. She has also come to love tea and ice cream, though she finds that they taste horrible when mixing them together. She also has a love for music. She will sometimes be caught singing in the shower, humming while eating, and dancing by herself in her room. Aya has also come to dislike a few things too. For one, she dislikes school! She thought it was going to be fun to go to school and be with people, but now she is second guessing her foolish thoughts. Sitting in a room for an hour, getting up, then rushing to the next class. Then, if you have to use the restroom in between classes and are late, you get in trouble for that! A five minute break to get from one end of the school to the other, and sometimes to a completely different floor, and they expect you to always be on time!? How stupid! She didn't understand why Saya was forced to do such a thing every day. Then, although she would never admit it, Aya has learned that she actually has a small fear of fire. If she looks at it or is around too much of it, she'll have flash backs of her sisters ashes and dress burning, and it tears her apart. The only thing that Aya can say she hates is her Father. Even mentioning him angers her and when she gets angry, she gets loud and starts yelling at people. If she gets angry enough, she'll even use her powers to shut people up about him. She can't stand it when people talk about their fathers in a good manner either and sometimes will snap and put things in other peoples minds that shouldn't be there. For example, she'll put it into someone's minds about a parents divorce, or something like that.
Aya has her problems like most people, even if in some ways hers might be a little more extreme. As stated before, she does try to keep a smile on her face and keep living her life happily. She holds a lot inside because of this. After a while, all of her held back emotions get the better of her at times and she ends up crying a lot. She usually stays quiet to keep others from hearing her cry because she is trying to keep up a facade of being the girl who has nothing wrong with her. While she was young, she constantly had things wrong with her, so she didn't want to deal with that anymore. Now, she holds everything in to the point where it can become unhealthy. She doesn't feel that she can trust anyone with the information that tears her up emotionally either, so she had absolutely no one that she can confide in. She feels completely alone now that she no longer has her sister. Aya also has developed an interesting obsession with her hair. It's a pure snow white color, silky, and very long. It reaches down to her ankles and she feels she must take care of it. If someone touches it in any way, they will likely see a violent/threatening/evil side of Aya that is rare to see. Now, if someone just pats her head or takes a lock of it in their hands, she'll be a little iffy and pull it back away from them. She won't snap if it's something little, but she is paranoid about someone coming and trying to cut it.
Character Background: Aya was born on December 25th at 12:03. She was born six minutes after her twin sister Saya, who was born on December 24th at 11:57. The two of them were strange at birth, automatically having a full head of snow white hair that was already reaching passed their waists. Aya had deep blue eyes while her older sister Saya, strangely, had one eye matching Aya and the other red. At birth, the two of them immediately showed marvelous powers that only seemed to be active when the two of them were in the same room together. The moment you separated them, they would be normal babies. When together, they had an interestingly large amount of control over water and air. At the age of two, their parents noticed something about Aya that worried them. She never spoke. In fact, she never even made a noise. After a brief examination from a doctor, it was concluded that Aya was mute. She would never be able to speak. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything that they would be able to do. At the age of four, they were being given baths by a maid of the house. Neither of them enjoyed the strictness and tyrant-like manner in which the maid ordered them around, so they always played jokes on her. This particular night, Aya and Saya lifted all of the water in the bath tub and waited for the maid to enter. The moment she did, they dropped the warm water over her head and began laughing hysterically at it. Of course, the woman quit not too long after that and the two were free to roam in the manner that they wished to.
The twins were always very, very close to one another. Saya was always there to protect Aya and get her out of trouble. Because Aya was mute, Saya felt she had an obligation to make sure her sister was heard. If Aya wanted something, Saya would tell someone about it. If Aya was scared of something, Saya would loudly scare it away. Nothing could separate the two of them. Together, they practiced sign language and their powers. At the age of eight, the two of them discovered a mental link that they shared with one another, which allowed Aya to finally let Saya hear her, even if it was only through psychic connection. They practiced with this as well, learning to use it farther and farther away from one another. Aya was never lonely, except when Saya went to school. When Saya was at school, Aya was forced to stay home and learn on her own because her parents did not think she would be able to handle regular school. Since her parents also worked through out the day, Aya was left alone with books and a lot of studying. Her parents hired a woman, Junko, who forced Aya to sit at the table with her to eat lunch. This woman always, ALWAYS smacked gum around in her mouth in a disgusting and loud manner. Aya was mute, not deaf, but this woman didn't seem to understand that. Then, when she took the gum out of her mouth, she'd slap some food around in there and eat like a pig. It began to drive Aya absolutely insane!
One day during lunch, Aya was not in the best of moods because she hadn't slept all night. Something was hurting her stomach thought the night and she couldn't figure out what. Now, she sat across the table watching this pig gobble down food as if she hadn't eaten for the past few weeks. Aya could have sworn that she was spitting half of it out only to put it back on a fork and into her mouth again. All little Aya could think was, "Close your mouth... Stop chewing like that." Aya stared this woman down while she ate. She did this for days, refusing to eat until Junko left the table. One day during lunch, Junko brought her face up from her plate long enough to realize she was being stared it. "What the hell are you looking at?" Junko said, spitting crumbs over the table. Aya of course could not reply. She only glared at Junko with an intense sense of disgust and not even blinking as they made eye contact. Junko rolled her eyes and went back to eating. "God you're such a disgusting pig..." Aya thought and Junko suddenly stopped eating. Junko looked up to Aya with anger in her eyes, "Excuse me? What the fuck did you just say?" Aya was completely confused. "Did she hear me?" Aya thought. "Of course I heard you. I thought you couldn't spea-... You didn't move your mouth, did you?" Junko asked and Aya shook her head no, "Then... are you talking to me through your mind?" Aya hesitated for a moment, still staring right at Junko, and then nodded. That night, Junko quit and explained what happened, shocking both her parents and her sister.
Aya was now able to communicate with her parents, not just her sister. After practicing some more, Aya realized that looking them in the eye is what activated this psychic link into their minds as well, though Saya and she could talk whenever. Two years later, at the age of ten, Aya and Saya crawled into bed together trying to drown out the sounds of their parents fighting. It had been going on for a while, but this night was very bad. They even heard glass shattering and knew that it was their mother that did so. After a while, the two of them heard some foot steps running rather fast down the hall way. They heard a door slam, their father yell "bitch" and everything went silent. The two of them thought it was over. A few minutes passed and suddenly the loudest bang echoed through the house. They jumped out of bed and ran to the kitchen, soon to be joined by their Father. Saya covered her mouth and screamed at the top of her lungs. Aya's face went emotionless and she stood there like a robot. Their father ushered them to the other room as Saya cried and Aya attempted to comfort her. Police were called only to announce that their mother was dead. She put a gun to her head and ended her own life. The fighting had gotten to be way too much. Aya and Saya still did not understand what the two of them were fighting over, but they didn't want to blame their Father for it. Watching him break down in the manner he did showed that he loved her more than the two of them would have thought since they fought so much.
It was only a year later, when the two girls were eleven, and everything seemed to be settling down again. Their Father was working extra hard and had even gotten a promotion and raise. Unfortunately that ended with a pain in Aya's stomach. She remembered that it had happened before, but never told anyone about it. Now, it returned with a lot more power and pain behind it. The girl was instantly bedridden. Every night there were more doctors, medicines, treatments, and exams, but nothing was getting better for her. It was like her life force was fading away. Each night Saya would sit by her side and read to her while their Father was out working. It went on like this for two years, except their Father was becoming more and more scarce as time went on. Now the two of them were celebrating their 13th birthdays and their Father wasn't even there. Aya became depressed. She was upset that Saya was spending her entire life taking care of her and that her Father couldn't even be here for their birthday. At that exact moment, things took a very bad turn for Aya. She began coughing up blood, breathing heavy, and her vision was blurring. Saya ran around hectically trying to find something to help and get in contact with their father and the doctors. No one would answer. Saya, with tears in her eyes, sat down in the bed with Aya and pulled her in close, holding her hand tightly, and telling her everything was going to be okay. Neither of them knew what happened that day, but all they remembered was a very bright light and then everything went dark. The two of them woke up the next morning and Aya was well enough to sit up in bed and even walk around. Saya was missing half of her right arm, up to the elbow. It wasn't hard to figure out what happened when they looked at each other. Saya saved her life.
- Spoiler:
The picture above is Saya after the second "transfusion".
Six months later, Aya had another episode and Saya willingly gave the rest of her arm to heal her once more. Still, Aya could not figure out how Saya was doing it, but she did know that Saya knew how it was done. Although she was happy to be alive, taking her sisters body to do it was not something she had in mind. A Doctor came around and gave Saya another arm made of wood, but easily maneuvered and controlled through Saya's reishi. It was like they were back to normal again, at least for a while. It was their birthday again and just like last year, their Father was out. Aya was fighting the pain, trying to act normal so Saya would not worry about her, but it was getting worse by the minute. Within ten minutes, Aya rolling around in her bed and mentally screaming out in horror at the pain she felt. She tried to block the psychic connection that she and her sister had, but she couldn't concentrate enough to do so and Saya was able to hear everything. Aya began thrashing around in bed, kicking her legs, throwing her arms every direction, and even bumping her head on the headboard of her bed. Saya cried for her sister and ran to the phone. "Hello?" her Father said in a drunken tone. "D-Dad! Aya! ... She nee-.. ARE YOU DRUNK!?" Saya asked only to hear another woman's voice come through the phone, "Who the fuck is she?!" All she could hear is a child in the background and the woman giggling, while her Father replied, "Now don't you take that tone with me, young lady!" Saya shook her head in disgust and yelled, "DAD! AYA NEEDS A DOCTOR NOW!" She got no logical reply, but instead, "Oh... Aya... well um. I'll be home in an hour or two, okay?" And the line went dead.
Saya could say nothing after that. She hung up the phone gently and went back to her sister. She sat down on the side of the bed, grabbed onto her hand and held on tight. "This is is Aya..." Saya said just barely loud enough for Aya to be able to hear her. Aya looked to Saya in fear of what she was about to do. She was going to speak to her psychically, but this time Saya blocked the connection of. Aya was too weak to do anything and once again began thrashing around in pain, clenching the blankets of the bed in her hand tightly. Saya took in a deep breath and got ready for something. Aya didn't like what was about to happen, so she pushed herself away from Saya, falling off the bed and onto the floor on the other side. "AYA!" Saya got up and ran after her, but Aya did something the two of them had promised not to do. She used her powers on her sister. Aya held her hand up and a burst of wind shot towards Saya and pushed her about ten feet away. It wasn't enough to make her fall. Instead, Saya just slid across the floor as Aya stood up and ran out of the door. "AYA STOP!" Saya ran after her, exiting the room just in time to see Aya lose her balance and fall down the stairs, knocking over a few lit candles at the same time. Saya ran after her. Aya crawled into the middle of the living room, shaking her head no with a desperate look in her eyes. A large amount of pain shot through Aya's chest and stomach, causing her to collapse onto the floor, though the mute girls sounds were not heard.
"No, no, no!" Saya dropped down next to her sister and pulled Aya's body towards her, laying Aya's head in her lap. Aya's body began convulsing, twitching violently. She had no control over her body. The pain was too much. Saya watched Aya's eyes roll to the back of her head as blood came dripping from her mouth. "Aya... I'm so, so sorry." Saya leaned down and whispered into Aya's ear, "This is all my fault... I can't let you suffer any longer because of me..." Saya set her forehead against Aya's and closed her eyes. Aya's body still convulsing violently, a bright light began to shine at the point that their heads made contact. Around them, a raging fire grew rapidly through the house, seeming to burn everything except for them. The sound of cracking wood and burning fire hit their ears as the light began to grow and grow. "Goodbye sister..." Saya said and her hands gripped Aya's shirt tightly. The light from their connections suddenly shot outwards. A push of energy, though not seemingly very powerful, blew through the house and then seemed to suck right back into Aya. Saya's body fell forwards as Aya sat up and looked to her sister. Aya's eyes widened as she watched the lifeless eyes of her big sister turn pure white and then her body followed. As Saya's body hit the ground, it seemed to turn into ash and spread around everywhere. Aya slid her hand into the ash of her sister and moved herself to her knees. With shaky hands and a horrified look on her face, she grabbed onto her sisters dress and the black bow she was wearing at the time. Anger filled her eyes as she hunched over and held the articles of clothing close to her.
Aya was no longer in pain. She didn't feel sick at all, not even a headache. She actually felt better than she ever had, but at what cost? The thought of what had just occurred tore her apart emotionally. Her tears fell onto her sisters clothing. The fire around her was getting worse, yet she did not attempt to move from that spot. She didn't notice, but the dress had caught on fire. Once the fire got closer, she looked up and tossed the dress to the side out of shock. She sat there and watched her sisters dress burn and then the fire began moving to the ashes that were once her sisters body. "Saya!" she screamed out, moving towards the ashes, but stopped when she realized she had just used her voice. She set a hand on her throat and began to squeeze. It didn't sound like her sister, but somehow she was now able to speak. She snapped out of the shock over her voice just in time to see the rest of her sisters body and dress burn. She clenched her jaw tightly and wrapped the ribbon that she still had around her arm. This was something she was never going to let go of. The fire got closer and closer, having enveloped the entire house by now. Aya heard sirens coming from outside and slowly stood up. She looked towards the front door and began walking towards it, uncaring towards the surrounding flames. A large beam fell through the roof behind her as she held her hand up and literally blew the door off of it's hinges and out into the front yard. She stopped and watched the fire trucks finally pull up and the firemen hurry towards her. "Are you all right, ma'am?" one of them asked and she merely nodded. "What the hell happened?!" Aya heard a familiar voice and then looked to see her father get out of another person's car and a woman that was carrying a young boy, about 3 years of age. "S-Saya!?" her father ran over to her and grabbed her shoulders, "Saya, are you all right?"
"Saya... Saya is dead." Aya spoke softly, glaring at her Father, "I take it you can't recognize your own daughter any more? If you paid any attention to us, Father... You would know that Saya has one red eye... Who is she?" Aya immediately moved the subject to the woman carrying the baby. The woman walked over and stood next to her Father. He quickly explained that this woman was apparently his fiance. They were to be married. The baby she was holding was their son, and Aya's little brother. "Here... Hold him." the woman held out the little boy and Aya actually took him. "Aya, how are you able to speak?" Aya explained her sisters sacrifice, glaring at her Father then entire time as she was holding her "little brother". She looked down to the child and then up to the woman. "So while I've been sick and dying, my Father has been ignoring me and my sister for the past three years to be with you and this child?" Aya said bluntly, causing both of them to look at each other in shame. "I'm sorry Aya..." the woman said. "My mother committed suicide because of this man." Aya said bluntly and uncaring, "He sat back and watched me and Saya, his daughters, suffer. My home is burning down. My sister is dead and all you can say... is that you are sorry?" They were both speechless. Aya's anger was rising, though she did not show it on her face. The way people were able to tell is that the water from the hoses began acting weird, clumping up and floating around. Aya stared at this woman with an intense look. "Just... die." Aya said and all of the water around hardened into sharp shards of ice and shot towards the woman. "AYA" a voice echoed in her head and the attack halted inches away from the woman.
The boy was quickly taken from Aya and the three of them left, driving off as fast as they could. The moment they were gone, the water that Aya had control over all fell around, soaking most of the people around. Aya turned to her home and watched the final board fall. With that done, the legal system was put into place. She refused to go back with her Father, so she would move to the closest living relatives house. Aya was soon sent off to Downtown Karakura to live with her Aunt. There she began her freshman year in High School. She constantly hid her powers because she was no longer sure if she could control them since she apparently was given Saya's gift of water. She would go out and visit Karakura Forest to practice a bit and after a while was getting very skilled with both water and wind. There was also something strange that she noticed. The more she used her power and the less energy she had, the more of her hair that would turn black, starting from the roots and moving down to the ends. There were even a few times that she purposely kept using as much energy as she possibly could, just to drain herself enough to make up to 90% of her hair black. She wonders what would happen if she used up all of her energy, but it also frightens her. She doesn't know what exactly will happen to her if she does. She could die or even lose her power. She doesn't want either, so she prefers to not use her power that long, just in case. So for the past two years Aya has been living with her Aunt, going to school, practicing her powers, and absolutely despising her Father. Though, she does have a secret. Every time she gets a chance, she sneaks up to the house and climbs in through the window to sneak a peak at her little brother, who is now five years old... Other than that, she is now living a normal life.

Reishi Abilities
Type: Zhànlüè. Reishi From Within.
Appearance change: The amount of Reishi that Aya has left to use is dictated by how much of her hair remains white. The more white, the more energy she has. After using up some of it, her hair will begin to turn black, starting from the roots and moving downwards towards the end. Once Aya's hair has turned black down to her knees, she will begin to feel the exhaustion from the amount of energy that she uses. Although she fears death and losing her powers, if she ever does end up using all of her reishi and her hair is black, it will merely cause her to black out and rest for up to a month before her hair is all white again. Regularly, a good nights sleep, maybe two, is what will bring her reishi back and turn her hair back to white.
Abilities: Aya's reishi has an instant connection with both air and water. This connection allows her to manipulate the air and water around her, granting her free control over any water and air around her. In addition to such, manipulating large bodies of water or larger amounts of wind, Aya typically needs to use her arms and hands to get the desired effect. Outside of those limitations however, Aya's control over water and air is only limited by her imagination. Aya is capable of altering the temperatures of both air and water, accelerate the movement, compress, and expand both elements. Aya's capabilities are limited to the existence of both elements. This means that she needs to be near water to actually use it. Luckily for her, air is everywhere, so she doesn't have to worry about not being able to use it. Being out in a desert will almost eliminate her ability to use water. Aya's limitations also are not measured by how many times she can do an attack. It isn't 'she can use this attack three times and then is done'. The longer her energy lasts, the more she can do. The larger the attack is, the more energy it takes from her and the blacker her hair can become. For instance, if she attempted to lift a large part of the ocean, creating a Tsunami that demolished parts of a city, she can do it. Doing so will cause her energy to drain and anywhere from 50% to 60% of her hair to turn black.
Because of her powers, her body has adjusted/altered itself to where it can work with both elements, water much more than air. Aya no longer has to worry about the resistance water naturally has on her body. She can move through it as easily as walking on land. Aya also has the ability to breathe under water. No, she doesn't have gills, but her lungs of change to where they can take in both air and water. Aya also is not unaffected by the pressure that large amounts of water can cause on a normal human being. She can go miles and miles under the ocean and her body will naturally adjust to the pressure. Now, if she goes under to fast, she can injure herself depending on how fast and how deep she went. Although Aya currently has no ability to heal another, if she is badly injured, being in water will accelerate her bodies healing process by 500%. This means that something that would usually heal in 5 days, will heal in one if she lays in water for the time being.
Aya's basic abilities are similar to Shinigami and Kido. They're extra side spells that she has come up with for instant attacks that don't drain her of reishi as fast as it would be using her powers regularly.
Basic Air Abilities:Gust (Hitofuki): Gust is merely a decently sized, strong, and fast burst of wind that is shot forth from the palm of Aya's hand to push a person and/or object back, off course, and/or off of their feet. It shoots from the palm of her hand at exactly 150 miles per hour and has the ability to do a massive amount of damage.
Monsoon (Monsu-n): When this spell is cast, an overwhelmingly powerful burst of air fires out from her body and moves in all directions. This is a defensive technique that is used to halt attackers and their attacks by applying enough force in the opposite direction that they are pushed away from her and hopefully off of their feet. It reaches up to a solid 25 in each direction from her current location and moves at 300 miles per hour.
Basic Water Abilities:Water Snake (Mizu Sune-ku): Like the Shinigami use 'Sokatsui', she uses Mizu Sune-ku. She holds out the palm of her hand and a blast of water shoots forward at anywhere from 100 to 500 miles per hour. The size differs to the amount of power she uses at the time. The moment she stops the spell, the snake freezes, encasing it's victim in a thick layer of ice shaped like a snake.
Ice Shards (Aisu Sohen): This is the second basic ability she has and it works just like the first. By holding up the palm of her hand and calling out the spell, a wave of very sharp shards of ice shoot forward anywhere from 200 to 400 miles per hour, in an attempt to impale her opponent. There are thirty shards of ice shot out at once each time the spell is cast.
Ice Spear (Aisu Yari): This is the third basic ability. Once this is called out, she points her index finger towards where she wishes it to hit. A spear of ice that is six feet in length shoots from the tip of her finger anywhere from 100 to 300 miles per hour, and attempts to pierce the object she has aimed at.
