Personality: The easiest way to describe this young woman is extremely kind. Marika is one of those people who almost always has a smile on her face, even if she's not having the best luck in life. She has a smile that makes others feel warm and when she's not smiling, if that happens, it has a tendency to bring others down. Obviously this is not on purpose, but what it really means is that people don't like seeing her unhappy. It's not fun and usually means that there is something very big wrong at the moment and it's effecting her strongly. Marika is also that girl that people come to when they need help. She's so friendly and outgoing, she's easily approachable. The fact that she's usually at the top of all of her classes is really just a bonus as well. The only class that she has a problem in is P.E. and even then she at least get's a C+ or B in it. Marika is quite trusting in people. Because of her beauty and kindness, other girls are quite often jealous of her, so they back stab her whenever they get a chance. Things like this, Marika will never notice and usually doesn't believe if it's told to her. Someone has to be pretty blunt and in her face, calling her out on whatever to get it across to her that there is something wrong. Most of the time, she is able to get over it, but Marika also has something else about her. She's quite innocent and extremely sensitive. If someone calls her a bitch, slut, whore, or anything else that people are able to think of, she'll take it straight to her heart and probably be hurt for quite some time. There are other things that are able to hit her hard enough that people can make her cry. In fact, she cried quite easily. This isn't to say that she's a baby because she isn't. She just doesn't like being called out of her name and because she takes it to heart, it hurts more than it does others. She doesn't cry over every little thing, which his good because that would get annoying as hell.

One thing Marika has had up her sleeve since she was a little girl is this uncanny, unmatched, strong ability to cook the most delicious meals that a person has ever eaten. No, she hasn't had any training. She just has a strong sense of taste and is able to realize rather quickly what goes together and what doesn't. This is something she sort of prides herself on and why she is seen always taking a lunch to school. There have been times that people would even pay her to bring some sort of lunch. All of her recipes, though many do come from books, they are altered to a point where she is the only person that has the ability to figure out what is in it. She loves cooking for people and when they tell her that her food is good, it makes Marika feel so good about herself. One thing that Marika is, is insecure. She's got a lot of friends, but she assumes that is just because she talks to them and is never sure whether they consider her a friend or not. She actually has no idea how cute or beautiful she is, or why anyone would be jealous of her. She thinks herself average, if not below average because that is what she's used to hearing. It's also why she is so sensitive. She's talked down so badly at home that when she gets to school, she's the happiest. When she's out of her home, she's extremely happy, so when her time that is supposed to be happy is shot down so harshly by people insulting her, she almost can't take it. Marika also hates going home because she goes back to a place that is not fun for her to be. She knows her family doesn't care about her because if they're not yelling at her, they don't recognize her existence. Because of this, Marika reads as much as possible. She's not always allowed to stay out late, so when is is forced to be home, she does her best to escape her world and join another. For her, reading is the best way to do that. It's a shame that someone so kind and beautiful is treated like she's nothing by those that are supposed to care for her...

Character Background: The first memory that Marika has from her childhood is probably the only good thing that she remembers happening to her. She was four years old and had just moved in to her new home. There was this little boy next door named Masaki Maejima. He was her first and only friend for quite some time. Unfortunately, they weren't able to play as much as they wanted to, but soon they started up a new school year. It was Marika's first year at school and it was lucky that Masaki was there because he made it so much better. He prevented people from picking on her and because of this, people actually tried befriending her instead of picking on the new girl. Because of him, most of her years were great, but it was hard keeping secrets from him. The reason they had moved into the house next door to him was because her Father had died and her Mother remarried to a man that Marika didn't like. He always drank and insulted her. He ordered her around, even though she was so small. When she wasn't able to do something, he yelled at her more and more, calling her out for any mistake she made. Of course, this was only done until her Mother got home, where he'd switch up and act nice, telling her to shut her mouth or she'll regret it. Out of fear, she kept quiet and just continued doing as her Father told her to. There were times that she'd come to school really sad and on the brink of crying, but Masaki always made her feel better. Luckily for her, she was able to keep the secret of how her Step-Father was treating her as well and has been for a very long time.

Time passed and Marika grew. Her best friend stayed in the house next to her, so that was one good thing that stayed with her over the years. It was in her last year of Middle School, where Masaki was already in High School, where Marika got the guts to do something that she regretted. A young man who was quite nice asked her out, and even though she knew that she was developing strong feelings for Masaki, she said yes. The two went out on a few dates, but she never kissed him. The most they would do is hug and he noticed, obviously. When he asked her about it, she explained to him that she just wasn't ready. For about two more weeks, he accepted that, but as time passed she just could not kiss someone that she didn't care for in that manner. He dumped her. She accepted it and that was it. Finally, she entered High School and she and Masaki were once again reunited at the same school. The two were still extremely close. Luckily for her, he hadn't gotten a girlfriend as of yet. Even with that not happening, Marika was pretty happy at this time, at least in school. Her Mother and Step-Father began arguing and he would take a lot of it out on her. There were even a few times where her Mother left, still oblivious to her Step-Father's abusive behavior, and he took advantage of that time by hitting her. He constantly called her a whore, a slut, or a bitch, saying that she was "just like her Mother" and making her feel worse and worse. One time, he ended up bruising her rib after she tripped because he was rushing her and spilled his drink. As punishment, he stood up and kicked her right in her ribs and caused her to curl up in pain. And that was just the first time he hit her. Since then, he's made it habit, doing whatever he wanted when her Mother wasn't around. Since she wasn't around about ninety percent of the time, she is abused quite a lot. Unfortunately, she's too scared to stop him and just deals with what "is coming to her"...

Abilities: Brought about from her need to escape her world for another, over time Marika has developed this little ability that allows her to bring out a story with her words. The first time this happened was when she saw a butterfly float off the page of a children's book she was reading to a few kids. It happened again when she read a book at home and it suddenly began to rain in her room and only stopped when she no longer wanted it there. This is pretty much how her power works. She can call out anything within a book, as long as she's reading it out loud. If she calls out creatures or people of any kind, they are loyal to her. Everything summoned is also summoned in the room she is in, or within a ten to thirty foot distance if she is outside. If the creatures she summoned are killed or injured, they do not bleed, they just vanish and return to the book for later. Pretty much any one thing in a book she can bring out. She can't bring out an entire battle, but she could bring out one soldier and whatever he's carrying. It also comes out in a manner that she imagines them, which is not always the way that the writer of the book imagines them. Also, if they are summoned more than once, they do remember her upon their re-summoning.
