Personality: Boris is a big man with an even bigger heart. Quite literally, though figuratively as well. Boris was once a man made for killing. He was trained to snap a man's neck in two and then some. Boris still could do that, but he probably won't. Because Boris loves people. Boris's life right now is owning a bar,which is named the Belaya Liliya (белая Лилия; lit. White Lily). The locals know it mainly as the Belaya, but Boris would prefer it be called the Liliya (since calling it the Belaya makes no sense). He doesn't force it on people because he hates forcing things period. The only thing he does force is people to stay when they've had too much to drink and are alone.

That is because Boris loves two things. His bar and his patrons. He loves his patrons more than his bar. This is because his bar is nothing more than a place for people to make friends, and that's why there are only two rules—no going home alone intoxicated and no violence. The punishment for both is banishment from his bar. Those are the only things that will get you banned. He accepts anyone and everyone into his bar, as it is also his home. He feeds stray dogs outside of it and will give people who can't pay a job cleaning up. He won't serve people underage an alcoholic drink because it's against the law, which is why he keeps a cooler full of nothing but soda. He also is a rather good cook.

Boris... believes in protecting something. He always did, though he lost his way in the Red Navy. That is why he offers free drinks and food one night a week. However, he only gives free drinks to those who protect something. Whether it be their honor, their woman, their country, or even money... it doesn't matter to Boris. "You only grow when you know you can not stand alone, that you have something to protect. If man could stand alone, there would be only one man... AND HIS NAME IS BORIS!" He always chuckles after the last part, but that's the only part of it he doesn't mean. He knows people can't be alone, which is why he always encourages people to get to know one another. He gets his patrons to sing, to dance, to try food, or anything to get people to know one another better. Boris can speak only Russian fluently, but he mainly speaks in very broken English. Coupled with his very heavy accent, people know Boris from a mile a way. He tries to pick up on phrases his patrons say, and he does know a good bit of Japanese thanks to them. Boris uses pictures and very exaggerated gestures to explain things if he doesn't know a language.

Past & Roleplay Sample

Character Background: Boris's past up until he joined the Red Navy doesn't matter. His mother and father were farmers, and Boris got most of his muscled frame doing farmwork. He only speaks of his mother when talking about his cooking. He claims his food is his mother's recipe, which is true (though his mother just took a recipe from a cookbook and added extra potatoes). Boris joined the Red Navy because he didn't think he'd be deployed anywhere because it's the navy. He was almost too strong and tall for the training, which made selecting somewhere for him a bit difficult. The navy put him in the shipbuilding part, where he was known as "Steel Hammer Boris." It was rumored that when his hammers broke, he'd use his fists to finish riveting a ship's hull. There was also a legend that a hull support was quite bent and Boris bent it back into shape like it was nothing.

Boris met a woman named Tanya and they married. They never had children, as she was infertile. Boris was soon selected by the Spetsnaz to be an "interrogator." While there, he learned to use his strength to crush the human body. He was trained to do nothing but that. He was trained to get information by any means necessary. And that made him lose his way. He joined the armed forces to protect his family's farm. And now, he had no memory of that. Tanya left Boris a few years after he joined the Spetsnaz. He then realized he had lost his way. Boris then retired from the military and moved to Japan. He opened a bar named after Tanya's favorite flower and color.
