Kaitlyn is naturally a kind hearted woman who can't seem to hurt a fly. She is extremely sweet and loving in all of her actions, wanting nothing more than to bring love and happiness to those around her. She is naturally an understanding person. Though she doesn't seem like it, she has been through a lot and can relate to a lot of people and the pain they have been through. She is really helpful as well. She does her best to aid those who need it and is able to give pretty decent advice to those who ask for it. She is naturally a gentle person as well. She has a motherly way about her that can make practically anyone around her feel comfortable, loved, and safe. One of Kaitlyn's slightly upsetting traits is the fact that she is closed hearted. She doesn't open up to anyone and keeps everything, especially any of her problems, to herself to make sure that she doesn't bug anyone. She is also rather trusting, which can be bad at times. She gives everyone the benefit of the doubt and seems to refuse to see the negative and bad sides of the world. If someone that she has given her trust does something and she realizes that it really was bad, her trust in them will be lost. She is actually easily broken and dishearted. This shows that she is actually rather weak willed. Because of everything she has been through, she doesn't have enough mental or emotional strength to deal with much. She suffers from an illness that causes an immense amount of pain to overwhelm her body and cause her to not be able to function properly, meaning too much pain to move, not being able to breathe, and not being able to think properly. (Not really an illness, but her powers going crazy)

Because of her illness, she never really sees herself being in a relationship, so she doesn't really look for one, nor does she seem to have an attraction to anyone she comes across. She also doesn't feel comfortable around adults, so she keeps her attention and dedicates her time to the children in her class. Kaitlyn is also frightened of telling people about her power, so she lies and tells them that she has a serious case of Fibromyalgia. This allows her to take a week, sometimes more, off of work when things happen. She is a girl who enjoys the smaller things in life, so her likes include children, books, flowers, tea, and classical music. She dislikes bugs, any animal with scales, heights, tight spaces, hurting others, the sight of blood, and feeling suffocated. Kaitlyn utterly fears her own power and what it has the ability to do. She begins to panic when she feels the warning symptoms her powers give off. At times, she'll randomly run away from a situation, no matter what the situation is, just because she is scared of what would happen if she would stay behind. She gets sea sick and is unable to be on a boat for too long.

Character Background:

Kaitlyn was born in the America's 25 years ago. She was born into a rather wealthy family, her mother and father being the CEO's of a major weapons manufacturing company. Of course, none of that every really interested Kaitlyn, so she kept herself out of it. She wanted to be a writer and loved to read, so that is what she spent her time doing. In school, she was a normal child. She was pretty decent in math and science, but was amazing in reading, writing, and history. Anything she was able to read words and not numbers, she was really good at. Upon entering her last year in Middle School, her mother and father informed her that they were going to be moving to the other side of the world to live in Japan. Apparently they had struck a huge deal there and had to move to deal with clients. Upset at leaving the place and people she knew and loved, Kaitlyn was forced to accept this reality and move with her parents. Her native language being English, she had to learn Japanese upon entering the country and was immediately put into a few Japanese Classes to make sure she'd learn it quick. Luckily, Kaitlyn was a really good study and caught up with it really quick. By the time she entered her Sophomore year in High School, Kaitlyn had become fluent in the language. She was able to make a few new friends and lived her life as a normal Japanese teenage girl. Kaitlyn, unfortunately, was not aware of the change that was developing within her own body because of the move. Where she was originally from, there weren't that many spiritual beings, especially compared to right here in Japan. Being exposed to so much reishi and spiritually powered beings did not effect her in the normal way that it would other people.

One day, Kaitlyn woke up screaming. She was in an immense amount of pain and did not understand why. She was forced to stay in bed and constantly given pain medications. Different doctors came in and out over and over again, taking blood, x-rays, and anything else they could think of. Nothing showed what was going on with her. All of her symptoms pointed to Fibromyalgia, an illness that caused immense amounts of pain in every part of a person's body. That is what they thought it was, but none of the treatments for it helped. Nothing lessened the pain. Every single night it got worse. Kaitlyn said she could feel something building up within her, but no one understood what that was supposed to mean. One night, Kaitlyn's breathing became erratic. She suddenly blacked out, her body falling limp within her bed. A moment later her body began glowing a bright green. She began floating a foot off the bed. Without warning, an overwhelmingly strong force of energy burst out from her body and shot out in all directions. During this process, she unknowingly screamed at the top of her lungs. The energy that shot outwards did not effect the air at all, but the earth below was a different story. The ground shook enough to cause a 7.0 earth quake. It moved up to five miles from her body, the epicenter, lessening the farther it went, but still doing massive damage to the surrounding area. Kaitlyn woke up to a destroyed house, crushed parents, and a devastated neighborhood around her. Buildings collapsed, people were hurt, and she had no idea what had happened.

This incident repeated in three different areas, at three different times, and finally she figured it out. It was her fault. All the pain and destruction had been caused by her, but she didn't understand how or why it was happening. She only realized that it would happen after she felt the pain increase to a certain extent. So now, when she begins to feel the effects coming, she quickly removes herself from populated areas to keep people safe. She still has no understanding to why it happens or how she can stop it, so at the moment this is the best she can do. She feels that if she goes to the Doctor and tells them what is wrong, she'll be forced into some sort of lab and doesn't want that to happen. She keeps this a secret from everyone and hopes to keep it that way. Once she graduated high school and went into college, another incident happened, except this time it was no way near as bad. She it happened a lot quicker than it usually would and the damage was just as bad, if not worse compared to before. Some people were even killed at farther distances. And that is when she came to the decision that she had to get out of populated areas no matter what happened. The overwhelming guilt of being the cause of so many peoples suffering caused her to shut down even more. She didn't like being around adults, but found an easy sanctuary with the children of the school she got a job at after she graduated college. Their innocence and love was enough to keep her calm and happy, but this job conflicted with the fact that she wanted to keep people safe. She only hoped and prayed that she'd be able to get out of the city in time for the destruction that would undoubtedly follow the tingling and pain.

Abilities:

Earth: Kaitlyn's abilities completely surround the concept of controlling earth. She does not know the full extent of her powers because every since she began developing her powers over earth, her Fibromyalgia-like illness has taken over her body. The pain that it causes is so severe that she's never been able to really practice actual control and developing techniques and abilities. She'll feel strange tingling in her hands, three hours later her arms will be numb, an hour after that her entire torso will be encased in an immense amount of pain, 30 minutes after that her entire body will be in pain. This pain is enough to stop her from functioning properly, preventing her from breathing or controlling her limbs correctly. Within the hour of this pain setting in, maybe even sooner, the energy will all expel itself from her body at once and cause yet another devastating earthquake. Kaitlyn's power must be used so she can manually (just meaning she does it) expel the energy. Her body does not naturally get rid of energy, but always collects more and more. At times it gets to much for her body to handle. Instead of the pain gradually coming, like in most cases, it comes rather quickly, barely giving her 12 hours (most of the time less), to get to a place that she will not hurt those around her. Once her body is filled with the reishi it naturally absorbs and can no longer hold anymore, yet it keeps collecting more, she pops. (sorta like a balloon, except her body isn't harmed) After such, she feels extremely weak because every ounce of her energy is gone, but after a single day of collecting a bit, she'll be able to act normal again. The rate at which she collects energy differs. There are times that she'll be forced to flee 2-3 times a month and allow the burst of energy to come and there are chances it can take 6 months to a year. Luckily, there will always be the warning signs that tell her to get out.
