| Shinigami Template Basics Name: Kaminari Hatakeyama True Age: 126 (109 as Shinigami) Appearance Age: 18 Gender: Female Height: 5'0 Weight: 110 Appearance:- Spoiler:
Kaminari is a small woman, petite and little, and tiny to most. Sure, there are a few people her age smaller than she is, but who cares cause it's rare. She has normal brown hair that reaches a bit passed her shoulders and that is shockingly silky smooth. She has normal brown eyes with nothing special about them. Beyond that, Kaminari actually has a single scar, but it's on the huge side of scars. It's on her right side. It reaches from her side, pretty far toward her back, but not fully there and comes all the way around to her belly button, thinning out over the top of it. It's not rough, it's actually quite smooth. Personality: Kaminari is one of those people who have the memories of her life in the world of the living. Unfortunately for her, they aren't memories that she likes. These memories are strong, even if she is suppressing them. They are strong enough that they have created and continuous muscle memory that cause her to feel and react certain ways. The first issue with Kaminari is her ability to trust. She gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. She trusts them until they give her a reason not to. If someone is stupid enough to break this trust, it's extremely hard for them to regain it. Kaminari doesn't believe in just giving someone a second chance. They would have to earn it with her. They have to earn the second chance and then earn her trust back once that second chance is given. Since she operates on an immediate trust and benefit of the doubt, there are times that bad things can come out of it. It's possible for someone to use that immediate trust against her, and Kaminari understands this. She just knows that she is strong enough to handle what is thrown at her. And though this goes with common sense, Kaminari is not stupid. She's not going to trust something like a hollow or Arrancar; that's just retarded. They are the Shinigami's natural enemy and that is it. First impressions are also a big thing with Kaminari and can also have an effect on whether she will give that immediate trust. If you come off as a babbling idiot, she will see you as an idiot. If you come off as too confident for your own good, she will see you as an idiot, an egotistical moron, or a fool. Being a decent person is the easiest way to get on Kaminari's good side. Kaminari is a nice person with a kind heart, but she doesn't always fully express herself. She isn't completely stoic, but the most people usually get out of her is a small smile, not much else. Kaminari has two different ways of acting: casual and formal. The only time she'll act formal is in the presence of a superior or equal officer that she doesn't consider a friend (Byakuya Kuchiki) or while doing business with others in the Gotei (Captain's Meeting). She makes it a point to treat every one of her subordinates with respect and kindness. She doesn't like treating them like they are less than her. She will respect their opinions and sometimes even ask for it. “Just because someone is weaker in power or lower ranked, does not mean they're an idiot or have no good ideas.” is a philosophy of hers. Normally, she treats everyone quite casually. Casually doesn't mean she's acting like they're best friends. It means that she's not going to call them by their title, Sir, Miss, or Ma'am. She doesn't feel the need to speak as if she's giving a presentation. Even with her casual treatment of others, Kaminari normally keeps on a very professional demeanor by standing and sitting perfectly straight with amazing posture, keeping her head held high, and never slouching. She's not stiff when she looks like this. She's actually quite graceful in her movements. Very rarely does she let her hair down. She prefers to keep it nice and tidy, pulled back into a ponytail. Kaminari always comes off as professional and serious, but she's not intimidating in the least. She does have a more laid back, cheerful, and sweet side of her, but it rarely comes out. There are very few instances that Kaminari's cute side will make an appearance. The first two instances are when she is drunk or high. Obviously, these are two things that Kaminari does not do often at all. For Kaminari, alcohol is a rare and situational thing. She only drinks when she's under a hell of a lot of stress or someone she trusts not to let her do anything stupid decides to push her into drinking. There are only three people that can do this: Tsubine, Genpaku, and Snopy. The likelihood of her picking up a drink for anyone else, without being stressed out of her mind, is extremely low. When she's buzzed, Kaminari talks a hell of a lot more than she normally would and she's honest about it. If she's drunk, you can ask her about practically anything and she'll spill it all. Kaminari will not ever intentionally get high. She won't ever willingly do drugs. The only time she's gotten high is when she's taken pills. This is something odd for Kaminari. Most people don't have any odd effects when taking pill formed medicine, but Kaminari does. She doesn't know why, but they effect her very differently. This is why she always asks for shots or liquid form. If it's something only a pill can handle, she'll take the medicine in her own home and likely chain herself down there until she feels normal. If someone sees her high, they'll likely have a bit of fun with her. How does she feel when she's high? Well, she's seeing double/triple vision and she has a tingly sensation through out her body that makes her feel like she's being tickled. How does she act when she's high? Fun. She giggles, she flirts, she gets touchy, and her guard is at -150%. If she finds someone attractive, she'll check them out in a very obvious way, giggle at it, and then start flirting. Depending on who you are, interactions may vary! Moving into that muscle memory that was mentioned in the first part of Kaminari's personality... What she went through when she was alive caused serious issue for Kaminari. Because of this, there are certain ways she acts without even thinking about it. It's a reflex that she finds almost impossible to control. There are certain things you cannot do to Kaminari, unless you want to die of course. The first is pin her down, tying her up, or holding her in any way against her will. She actually fears these things happening to her. If they are, her heart will start to race and she'll go into panic mode. Because of these fears, Kaminari can't have someone grabbing her shoulders, her wrists, or her neck in any way shape or form. About ninety-five percent of the time, Kaminari's reaction will come automatically, without hesitation or thought, and she will counter them and send them to the floor or into a wall. It doesn't matter who you are, unless you know how to deal with her in that sudden instance that she's attacking you without holding back, you will likely end up hurt. Another habit she developed because of her past is that Kaminari refuses to allow anyone to see her upset. No matter how sad or heartbreaking something is, she will not allow someone to see her cry. The only time this may change is in the company of someone she'd trust with her life and hold on a more personal level over professional. At this point, there is no one a that level with Kaminari, even if she wants them to be there. Because of random situations and different types of people, Kaminari hasn't been able to put anyone at such a trust level that she'd cry in front of them. There are a couple of people that she thought might make it there, but it just never happened. At this point, she wonders if it ever will or even if she wants it to. Kaminari is an active person. Though she does enjoy the occasional cup of tea, she prefers to be moving around. She prefers to be doing something that is not sitting at a chair. This is the main reason why she is more often caught training herself or others. In her training, Kaminari's concentration has always been her speed. She needs her body to move faster and faster. She focuses everything on her speed and agility, both in mind and body. Quick thinking: Kaminari makes decisions fast. She doesn't like wasting time thinking about multiple ways to make one decision. She picks quickly and logically and most of the time she's right in her choice. Kaminari isn't perfect, so she does make mistakes. When she does make these mistakes, no matter how rare they are, she will do what she can to correct them. She doesn't send anyone else to fix her problems for her. In this sense, Kaminari is pretty independent. She's never had to rely on anyone and has never wanted to. Kaminari is all about proving herself to be worthy. She wants to prove that she is strong, that she is top tier. She thought that she had done it by hitting the Captains position in the Gotei, but then wanted to go higher. She wanted that Captain Commander position and right when it was in her reach, it was handed to someone else. No matter how many times someone has explained it to her, no matter how many apologies she's gotten, or how many times she has convinced herself of the good reasons why it was done, Kaminari has never been able to get over the fact that she was called inferior by not getting that position. That's how she sees it and always will. No matter how hard she worked and how strong she had become, she was inferior to the man that did not even want the position in the first place. And the result was her first physical scar... Kaminari's issue with inferiority comes with a bit more insecurities than just her ability to lead or act as a warrior. Kaminari is insecure about her appearance. She's normal. Her hair is pretty soft, but beyond that she thinks she has a dull appearance. She doesn't think she's pretty in any way. These things are fine because she's learned to accept them and doesn't easily believe anyone who tells her otherwise. There is one thing she can't stand and that is the fact that Kaminari is actually pretty damn short. She's tiny in all aspects of the word. She's met some people on the shorter side like she is, but at least they have a large chest to compensate! Kaminari has none of that and it irritates her. The only thing she can say is that being short has helped her gain and continue to gain the speed that she shoots for when training. The worst part is when someone makes fun of her height. At times, it's hilarious and comes to her advantage. An example of this is when she goes into battle and all people see is this tiny girl trying to act tough. Suddenly she shoots out higher-than-Captain level Reiryoku and has them fall to their knees because they can't handle the pressure. That shuts them up. Making fun of her size is probably the one thing that can cause her to act out in an unprofessional manner. She'll hit someone, yell at them, throw something at them, and if they said something very offensive, she might even chase them around with her Zanpakutō to teach them a lesson. Don't make Kaminari feel inferior. The last time that happened, she charged out into battle against an Arrancar that she had no chance against because it was a full on counter for her. So as an easy enough note, if you care about her at all, don't make her feel bad about herself or you'll end up getting her killed, is that clear? Okay then! Character Background: There is a part of Kaminari that she doesn't speak of; it's the part of her life when she was alive. She despises the memories she has of when she was alive. She wishes that she was one of those that would forget that time, but she's not. And to this day, she denies the existence of these memories and tells no one anything about them. She keeps them buried deep within her mind and because she's buried them so deep, they now act like nightmares that show up in her sleep or if she's reminded of them. This is the part of Kaminari that she will never reveal, and that includes in this character application. - 1992-1994:
The first memory that Kaminari accepts as her own is only accepted as part of her because it was their first meeting. It was that day. The part of Kaminari's history that she might tell someone about starts off in a room. It's dark and she can't hear anything beyond her own heart beat and heavy breathing. The room is damp and cold, but she can't feel it. She can barely open her eyes. Everything hurt and she felt weak. She noticed a light off in the corner, coming from the crack at the bottom of a door. That is all she can see. This room she is in only has that door from what she could tell. She concentrated on it. Every now and then shadows would pass by that slit of light. She moved toward that light, but something bound her in place. She heard the clanking of metal. She could feel the rough scraping of iron against her delicate skin, her wrists and ankles all bound. Hours passed and not a sound was heard. She couldn't hear anything. The silence was driving her mad. She hung there from the her shackles, her head hung low as her damp hair fell over her head and face. She glanced around through the loose strands of dirt and sweat covered hair that interfered with her ability to see that one lit area perfectly. She flipped her head to the side, yelling in irritation at the itch her loose hair caused. She wanted it behind her back. She tried pulling it back with her hands, but she couldn't reach it. She shouted out like an animal, with no intention but to be heard and to express her frustration and anger. No one came, no one acknowledged her. She yelled more and still nothing. Irritated by this, she thrashed around, causing the clanking of metal to become louder and louder. She will be heard. She will be acknowledged. This hair that drove her crazy will be pushed behind her shoulder, behind her ear, something!
They would come. They always did. If she screamed loud enough, thrashed around enough, or threatened to break these damn chains they would come. And they came. She yelled enough to get their attention and a man was sent into the room with a plate of food. She needed it. She was dead, but still hungry. They knew what that meant and so did she. She had power. If she gained enough of it, she'd kill many of them. They refused to loosen or unlock her shackles because the last time they did she pulled someone's eye right out of it's socket. Instead, they had to risk feeding her. The man knelt down next to her. He was a kid, looked even younger than her and as scared as she should have looked. Kaminari glared at him. She wouldn't trust his acting. He lifted a piece of bread and she leaned forward to bite the entire thing. The process repeated with meat of some sort, a few bites of apple, and then when she chugged down a full bottle of water. After that, he fled as if she were planning to kill him, which she was. It was like this every day. Kaminari forgot what it was like to walk around, to feel the wind, to feel the warmth of the sun, or see it's light. She was stuck in this hellish darkness for a year before finally a new noise. She looked up to the door and watched as shadows raced across the bottom slit of light. She could hear them yelling. “The Gotei is here!” they shouted. “The what?” was all she could think. What was here? What was out there? What were they fearing? Bangs, clanging metal sounds, crashes, glass breaking, and surges of energy that made Kaminari feel pressure pushing down on her. She hung weakly from the shackles as the pressure increased. It was coming closer, and soon it stopped. She felt the pressure on her body release her and caught her breath. That was overwhelming. She listened for more noises, only hearing slight chatter about checking the rooms for survivors. And then, with a quick swing of the door, he came in...
“Who are you?” she asked frightened as she pushed herself up to stand. He turned to her. Her body was blending in with the shadows. Her dirty dark hair falling over her light skin gave a bit of a camouflage, but he just pushed the door open a bit more to let the rest of the light in. The moment that much light hit her eyes, Kaminari turned away, hiding her face behind a thin arm. “T-Turn the light away from me.” she said in actual pain. She hadn't seen more light than the crack under the door for a year; she was extremely sensitive to it. The next thing she knew, she was in shadow again. When she opened her eyes to look, he was standing right there. She froze, her eyes widening as he raised his sword and cut down through the shackles. With another swing, she was free from the wall and stepped away. She tripped over her own feet, as if she forgot how to walk forward. She pushed herself up onto all fours only to have the light shine right back into her eyes. She darted backwards, slamming her body back into the wall and into the darkness. He stepped over to her again. “Go away.” she demanded in a much less frightened tone of voice. She was free, so she thought she'd be able to fight him off. When he stepped closer, she stepped toward him to shove him away, but he didn't budge. Instead, he stepped forward faster than she had ever seen and pushed her body up against the wall without any resistance behind it. He reached up to the black top he was wearing and pulled it off. She looked at him extremely scared, but he just started ripping his clothes. She thrashed around, doing her best to push him away, but he still did not budge. She yelled, hitting her hands against his chest. “Calm down.” he said in a smooth voice and his demands were met. She stared at him again, frozen in place as he wrapped the top of his uniform around her and the now ripped straps of his uniform around her eyes, “This will help.” Kaminari calmed down and wrapped the top of his uniform tighter around her.
“Th-Thank you.” she said quietly, her voice a little shaky. "I didn't do anything special, don't thank me." he replied. And though those words actually stung a bit, she understood. It's not like they knew each other. It's not like he raced down here to save her. No, he was in the middle of something and she was rescued in the process. It was nothing special to him, even if it was to her. She blinked once at him and then nodded once. He picked her small body up, being lighter than someone of her small stature should have been, and she just leaned into him. She couldn't see anything, thank god, and he was the only person she could trust at the moment. At this moment, since this was all she knew (and she didn't even know it well), he was her world. She fell asleep in his arms, able to relax fully for the first time in a long time. When she woke up, she was laying in a darkened cell and that feeling of fear returned to her again. Soon, a few people came to her and began asking her questions. She answered none of them. “Where is the man who saved me?” she asked. They ignored the question and started asking her more and more questions. “Where is the man who saved me?!” she shouted offensively loud at them looking overly angry at them. Seemingly disappointed, they stared at her for a few seconds and then stepped away. About ten minutes later, the only one she recognized returned. “What is this place?” she asked him. She leaned her shoulder up against the cell bars and just watched him. She didn't trust anyone but him at this point. She wanted someone with her that she knew; she was tired of being in the dark all the time. And since she knew no one but the short moment she had with this man, he was the one she would turn to. He did get her out of there after all, so she asked him the first thing that came to mind and waited for his answer...
"This is the Gotei Thirteen's Thirteenth Division's observance room. For the record, what is your name?" he replied. He was almost too serious for her liking. He was making it awkward by not looking her in the eyes. "I assume it's not you wanting to know? ... It's Hatakeyama... Kaminari Hatakeyama." she told him, willing to answer the questions as long as he was the one asking them. She didn't want to have to deal with any strangers. "I just need something to write down here. It's good you can remember your name. Now, do you know who those people who had you were?" he told her. Kaminari shook her head, glancing away from him, "I was there for a year and new nothing. All they did was keep me chained up, force fed me, and then left me there. I need a fucking bath... Haven't had one in three weeks..." She glances back to him and glances him up and down, "You might wanna take one too." She was serious. She had no idea what she could have passed onto him. There were things that happened in that room that she refused to speak of, no matter who asked. "A bath can wait for the both of us. I need to get as much information from you about them as I can." Tsubine flipped through his notebook, still not even looking her in the eyes. "Do you know what they were planning to do with you?" She glanced away, searching her memories for a hint of what they were planning. “... No.” Kaminari glared at him, turning toward him and grabbing onto the cell bars, “Is there a reason you can't even look at me? Do I disgust you or something?” He was making this meeting increasingly uncomfortable with not looking at her. A little bit of eye contact should not be that big a deal. "I'm just trying to get through this as fast as I can so we can both can have a much-needed break. You don't disgust me or anything of the sort." He looked up from his notebook briefly "I'm only trying to help us both with this." He turned back to his notebook. "About how many of the captors were there from your observations?"
Kaminari just stared intensely at him as he explained and then shook her head. It's not like she could do anything about it, so she sighed and sat down on the bed she woke up on. “That's hard... I was there a year, remember? There are likely hundreds, but there were always five that stayed consistent, I assumed they owned the building I was in... Beyond that, there were probably thirty that came in and out... So what's going to happen to me? Are you just gonna ask me questions and leave me here to rot?” It was obvious she didn't fully trust him. Sure, she had asked for him, but that was for the slight familiarity he provided her. He must not be all bad if he kept her eyes from the sun and covered her body after rescuing her. "You're not going to sit here and rot. After some more questioning, some medical examinations, and other things of that sort, you'll be released to do and go wherever you want. Those five... could you describe them?" Tsubine pulled out some of the photos of the criminals there, so he could see what she says and compare them to the photos. After he asked the question, Kaminari stared at him for a good twenty seconds before speaking up. She cleared her throat and shook her head. "No, I can't. Not physically at least. I only heard about thirty different voices. Most of them were young, but the five that you're wanting to know about... The bosses?" she acted as if she already knew where he was going with it, "Yeah, there was only two there. They're never in the same place at once. One is always gone, it's the only way they ensure information doesn't get linked and they don't all get caught together. And by the way, there are nine of them, not five. The five that stayed there were two men, three females. The females were whores, nothing more. They were used daily in the same way the women at a brothel were. The other two, one of them was a boss, the other a messenger. If no one escaped you while you raided the place... They're dead... And the possibility of you finding the other four... zero percent." Kaminari stared at him as if she were being cocky about everything she knew. She was there a year, so it should have been expected.
"I see. Well, that is a big help. We don't believe anyone escaped. Although..." Tsubine pushed the pictures back into the folder and looked at her "I think you underestimate our ability to investigate." He made a light chuckle and went back to his notebook. "So you had been there a year. How did you get there?" Kaminari blinked once and then turned away from him again, "Is that a required question, or are you curious about it?" She didn't feel that the question was something someone would actually need to know in this situation. How did that matter? Unless they wanted to continue an investigation, which wouldn't be shocking. "Both." Tsubine looked back up from his notebook. "Even if you're skin-and-bones now, I get the feeling you have some strength in you. Or at least the potential for it." Ah, so he was interested in her. That was a little relieving. It felt a lot less like an interrogation that way. “I see...” Kaminari dropped her arms back to her sides and then turned back to him, “I died.... And no, I don't care to elaborate on that. I've answered your questions, when do I get to leave?” She didn't mean to sound rude, though her tone came out that way. She wasn't going to make a huge deal over it if they forced her to stay here. They gave her a bed, which was more than she had in a long time. "I see... well, I think we've got all of the information we need from you." Tsubine closed the notebook and stood up. "If you want to, you can rest here for the night. We'll have you take your medical exams in the morning, and then you'd just need to file your release paperwork and you'll be free to go." Tsubine reached into his Shihakkushou (the upper garment of Shinigami), pulling out a business card with his name on it. "Take this in case you need anything. Before I go, are there any questions you need to ask me?" Kaminari hesitantly took the business card and glanced down to it. "Uh... Yeah. Why do I need a medical exam?" She looked up from the card and to him with an irritated expression. She was going to fight that shit...
"Standard procedure. We just need to make sure you're not going to go out and die a few seconds later because we didn't notice you had internal bleeding. It'll be nothing invasive. Just a routine checkup, an X-ray, and an SRI*." That she did not like at all. She understood them not wanting her to die the moment she walked out of here, but the idea of a medical exam bothered her. She didn't want anyone touching her body. "... W-Who's gonna do all that stuff? What doctor?" she asked, obviously nervous about the exam. "Someone from the Fourth Division. They specialize in medicine. Do you know one that you'd like to request? If it's anyone but Captain Unohana I can probably arrange it." He points to his Lieutenant's badge. Kaminari stared at him again. The look obviously said "Don't make me do this", but she knew she needed to. "I-It's fine." She walked to the back of the cell, behind the bed, and sat down. No matter how desperately she wanted to ask him to be there, she was not going to do that. She curled her knees to her chest and laid her forehead on them. "If you need anything, there's someone at the guard station just down the hall. Call for them and they'll be here." Tsubine began to walk away. Kaminari waited a moment. She was going to let him go, but changed her mind at the last second. "W-Wait!" She stood up and hurried back to the cell door, "Can you stay with me? A-At least until I'm done with... whatever all this is and I can go. I don't know a-anybody. A-And I don't... I don't want to keep being alone." Tsubine sighed. "Nnnn." He thought for a moment. "Open the cell door." The guard opened the door. "This is against my better judgment, but I'm not going to sleep in the cell block. Besides, I still have paperwork to do. Follow me." Tsubine then led her to his office. Once they arrived, they sat in silence until her medical exam came up. She made it clear she just didn't want to be alone and with him there she wasn't. She kept herself off to the side, like a fly on the wall. She didn't bother him at all and things worked out perfectly. Once her medical exam came up, her took her there, but soon left. Once everything was done, Kaminari had no idea what she was going to do now. She had no purpose in this world, but there was something that lingered on her mind. He said she had power and she knew what that meant; the people who held her captive knew what that meant.
“Might as well...” she thought to herself and searched for his office again. After an hour or so of wandering around and asking people she saw about where he'd be, she finally made her way to his office. “I'm joining up. I don't know what else to do, so expect me to be your subordinate.” she stared at him for a moment and he just looked up from his work and stared back. Without another word, Kaminari stepped out of his office and walked off. “...That... was odd.” she heard him say. It caused her to smirk as she continued on. Her first destination was Shino Academy. She didn't know much about it, but it wasn't exactly hard to enroll. Upon her enrollment, Kaminari was given a sword that was supposed to become her Zanpakutō. She was instructed to spend as much time with her Zanpakutō as she could, to never let it out of her sight, to constantly keep it at her waist, and to train with it whenever she had time. It would then become part of her, learn about her as she learns about it. And over time a Zanpakutō spirit would surface and she'd be able to advance from there. She took this instruction quite literally. She never let that sword out of her sight and trained with it every single day. Kaminari even slept with it laying on a pillow next to her. Even though she was told she didn't have to take that too literally, it worked. Before she even left the Academy, Kaminari began hearing her Zanpakutō's voice. It was faint and hard to understand at times, but it was there. The few times she could hear it clearly, Kaminari was able to deduce that her Zanpakutō Spirit had the worst laugh in existence and it was driving her crazy. For a while, she actually stopped trying to talk to her. She stopped trying to learn her Zanpakutō Spirits name because she refused to stop laughing hysterically in her head. The headaches were practically endless. Over time, Kaminari ended up graduating from Shino Academy and when she was asked about what Squad she was interested in, she actually demanded that she be Tsubine von Zarkonheinz's subordinate. She didn't care how far down she had to be. Shocked at her demand, they granted it and placed her in position Thirteen of Squad Thirteen's Division. She didn't exactly inform Tsubine that she had arrived or anything. She doubted it mattered to him, but she had kept her word.
- 1995-2014:
"With your power level, I suggest you forfeit instead." Are you fucking kidding me? It was the first time that Kaminari and her Zanpakutō Spirit were meeting and she was just going to insult her? Nice. Kaminari smirked at the challenge. “I'm pretty sure I can take you.” she replied, “What's your name?” Hikari's vibrant smile only widened. She was at Kaminari's height, which was relieving for Kaminari. She had blonde hair, blue eyes, a wonderful figure, and wore armor over parts of her body. So this was the woman that drove her insane with that obnoxious laugh? “Don't get so confident. If you couldn't handle my laugh, how are you going to handle me in battle?” the bright woman asked her. This woman wasn't bright mentally, no. Sure, she wasn't dumb, but that is not what this was referring to. This woman not only hurt Kaminari's ears, but her eyes. She was so light, it was like the sun was beaming out from her body. A Zanpakutō Spirit was supposed to represent part of their Shinigami. “How is it that you're supposed to represent me?” Kaminari asked. This woman was not like her at all, at least from what she could tell. “Enough talking.” the woman told her and raised a strange baton-like staff toward her. Kaminari didn't even see what happened. She felt a burning sensation on her chest and was forced back at a high speed until her body slammed into her bedroom wall? What the hell? She had just been kicked from her inner world without any chance to do anything. She didn't even see the attack coming. She knew that Zanpakutō Spirits were supposed to challenge you mentally and physically, but she got nothing out of what had just happened. This entire process was repeated for months. She was determined to learn her Zanpakutō Spirits name. Each time she pushed her way in, Kaminari would learn something new about this woman. Things began to slow down and Kaminari began to see the light. “That's what she's been attacking me with?” Kaminari thought in realization. The woman shot four more attacks at her and Kaminari was actually able to dodge. The woman smirked at her, but then a new attack came forward. This she had no ability to predict so as this strange ripple in the air passed through her chest, Kaminari could only widen her eyes.
“Oh no.” was all she could think before light completely enveloped that ripple. The light showed up all at once, passing through her body and causing an extremely burning sensation in her chest. Kaminari fell back to the ground in the middle of the training yard, where she had started this session with the worst pain that she had ever felt. She moved her uniform from side to side to see if there was damage and there wasn't. She laid there for a while, waiting for the pain to fade and thinking about what the woman wanted her to do. All of her moves with fast. They came one after another, not giving Kaminari very much time to maneuver or dodge. And that's when she realized it; she needed to be fast. It was a full month before Kaminari tried again. She began training her bodies agility and speed over her swordsmanship. She was quite skilled with a sword, but that's not where her power lied. Her power lied within how fast she was. She hated to admit it, and never would out loud, but she was too small to try the brute strength route. After she felt she had picked up her speed enough, using Shunpo as a hell of a catch-up technique, Kaminari once again entered her Inner World. The woman immediately began attacking; there was no conversation this time. There was only training and battle. Kaminari was able to keep up with the woman much easier now, but it still wasn't enough. She was struck down again, but it took the woman a hell of a lot longer to strike her down. A month later, after more training, Kaminari returned and the blonde woman with the irritating laugh was defeated. In the middle of the battle, Kaminari's normal Zanpakutō transformed in the palm of her hand. Kaminari immediately took action and sent one of this woman's same attacks right back at her, in even faster succession than the woman had before. She was knocked off of her feet and her outfit was torn through. Before she could get up, Kaminari had her blade at the woman's throat. “What is your name?” she asked in more of a demanding tone than anything else. “Hikari.” the woman said and Kaminari smirked. She had finally learned her Zanpakutō's name.
Hiding the fact that she now knew her Shikai, Kaminari kept her normal rank as the thirteenth seat. By this time, Tsubine knew exactly where she was. She was his subordinate, like she had promised she would be. A couple years passed and there was a betrayal in the Gotei, it wasn't something that anyone expected to happen. Captain Aizen of Squad Five, and two others, defected from the Gotei. With a few roles switched around, Kaminari came forward about her abilities with shikai and ended up stomping the competition. She transferred to Squad Five and acted as Fourth Seat. She could have gone higher, but chose against it. Kaminari wasn't exactly the type to take the lead at this point. She preferred the background. That changed very soon. Her current Captain was Tsubine. The two started talking again and began enjoying each others company. She assumed that she was a breath of fresh air for him; so many woman swooned over him the way they did Captain Kuchiki that he couldn't exactly have a decent conversation with a woman without being gawked at. She helped that, at least she thought she did. This was when she started ignoring her attractions. She lied to herself every single day about whether she was attracted to Tsubine or not because she didn't want things to change. She kept a professional demeanor around him. She kept things casual. She didn't flirt or show any minor interest in him as a lover at all. There were a couple reasons for this: rumors, respect, and rationalization. Kaminari rationalized that being with a superior officer would only cause problems between them and any other females who wanted to sheath his sword, so she avoided it. She also respected his ability as a Captain, a warrior, and a man enough not to treat him like a yummy piece of meat. Most of the woman who wanted him only liked him because he was good looking. They didn't know shit about him. Beyond that, the rumors she heard about him and relationships pushed her away. Apparently he had been with twenty women and broke all of their hearts for no good reason. Kaminari wanted to stay off that list. Of course, she was foolish to believe these rumors created by jealous women who were repeatedly rejected by him, but she never had the guts to ask him about them.
It was only a few years after that (2003) when Tsubine was promoted to the Captain Commander position. This time, Kaminari could not follow him. Instead, she chose to follow in his footsteps and become the Captain of the Fifth Division. She began training for her bankai. Through the next four years, Kaminari fought to rapidly increase her power and skill. She wore her body out with training, but still continued to push herself. She went above and beyond what most Shinigami had to do to gain their bankai. And through her final training session, Kaminari appeared in darkness. She could see nothing, not even her own hand waving in an inch in front of her face. Because of this, Kaminari did the one thing she was taught to do years ago; she listened and she felt. She listened for anything that was not her own. She listened for breathing, for a heart beat, for minor shifts in the air. It took a while, but she heard them. They were coming from her right, around the corner of a stone wall. Yes, she could tell this much just through the sound. The little echoes she could hear coming from a heart beat and the subtle hints of sound from footsteps causing minor vibrations through the surroundings told her someone was coming in her direction and what everything around them was made of. These were things that were practically impossible to hide. And then came the light. A light was shining from around the corner, brightening that area only. It was her Zanpakutō Sprit; It was Hikari. And as Hikari walked around the corner, Kaminari raised her sword and swung it at Hikari's neck; her intention was to kill. Fortunately, Hikari was no slacker and saw the attack coming. Hikari maneuvered her way under Kaminari's released blade and the battle began. The battle of light between two ladies of Luminosity raised within Kaminari's inner world. And when Hikari was defeated, she explained to Kaminari that defeating her again and again would not allow her to gain her bankai.
“You have defeated me a hundred times over. I have learned from you as much as you have learned from me.” Hikari explained to her, circling Kaminari as she spoke, “If you want your bankai, you're going to have to find it. How many times do I have to tell you this?” Kaminari had no idea what that meant. How was she supposed to find her bankai? And when she asked that question, Hikari's light began to calm while the woman began backing away. The moment Kaminari could no longer see her, she shot off an ability that illuminated the entire area to find that Hikari had disappeared. She looked around, quickly getting an image in her mind of her surroundings. Everything was made of stone, but it looked like a temple of sorts. There were four directions that she could go: North, South, East, and West, as if you could tell exactly what direction those were in this place. She chose the closest one: East. Walking down the hallway, things returned to complete darkness. She decided it would be best to light up her Zanpakutō for this. The moment she did, she was met with a head. She instantly recognized this heads face, but it had no eyes. Still, she could tell it was looking at her. It began moving closer and she began backing away from it. “D-D-Don't... run....” a woman's choppy voice echoed from the head. Blood began pouring down the side of it's mouth and Kaminari turned on her heels and ran. She soon came back to the main room where she started and fell to her knees. “I... can't keep doing this.” she said as Hikari stepped up to her side, appearing from the shadows again. “If you want your bankai, you need to find it.” Hikari told her and Kaminari just shook her head. “Wh-What does that even mean!? Every time I leave this area I am met by some horrifying... grotesque... thing.” She didn't even know how to explain it. “You know what they are, so why are you acting like you haven't seen them before?” Hikari said and Kaminari turned to her with a terrified look.
“You ever wonder why this is called your inner world? Ever think about what these things mean, what they are?” Hikari sat down next to Kaminari. She sat there like this was nothing, like Kaminari shouldn't fear what she was seeing. Who the hell doesn't fear a floating disembodied head, with no eyes, blood dropping down the sides of it's mouth, and with the ability to speak to you? Who doesn't run from that? “This place isn't meaningless Kaminari. Figure out what it all means or you will never reach our full potential.” Kaminari took that as a threat and stood up. She lit her sword up again and chose to go South this time. As she walked into a new hallway, she left Hikari behind to wait in that room. She lit her sword up again and kept walking. She walked for quite some time, getting more and more nervous as she went along. Suddenly she began hearing the clanking of metal, like chains rattling around behind her. She had just come from that way, so what the hell could it be? “Hikari?” she called out, hoping to god that it was her, but no. Out of the darkness, chains flew toward her. They aimed at her wrists and ankles. She was able to dodge them, but more and more kept coming, beginning to shot out from different directions. Finally, one caught her left wrist. She went to cut it, but something made her hesitate. That hesitation cost her the left and right ankle. When she noticed this, her right wrist was caught. They began to pull her and she struggled against them. Suddenly, a being came from the shadows and wrapped a chain around her neck. It's rough metal scraped harshly against her skin and as she struggled to breath, Hikari appeared to her again. “Look at him. Does he mean nothing? Do you not recognize him? You recognized the last, didn't you?” Kaminari took a good look at the man trying to kill her and realized.
“You...” she was suddenly filled with anger, easily broke through the unbearable chains that were holding her down and attempted to slice through this thing that was trying to kill her. Unfortunately, her Zanpakutō suddenly vanished from her hand. This humanoid monster, more similar to a mummy, continued to attack her. A new chain was placed around her throat and she began choking again. Pushing herself off of a wall, she pushed him back into a wall, loosening his grip as she grabbed the chain and wrapped it around his neck, pulling it tight enough for his neck to break. And then like dust in the wind, it vanished without a trace. “H-He... was the one that...” Kaminari was caught off by the sudden extremely bright light that enveloped both her and Hikari. When it finally vanished, she was back in the darkness and one pathway was lit brightly up. “One down... Three to go.” Hikari said and Kaminari now knew what she had to do. And so she went North, the opposite of where she had succeeded the first time. Here she encountered a man bleeding from cuts all over his body. She could not see him yet. She could only hear. And what she heard was his movements. He walked to her and she feared him. She backed into the darkness until her body stopped at a wall. “Stop rejecting. Accept it.” she heard Hikari's voice from somewhere as things began to brighten up. This blood covered body of a mangled man moved closer to her, pushing her into a corner until he raised a knife. She didn't even think to dodge. She screamed out as this walking corpse sliced down her right shoulder and she dropped to the floor. It went for a second strike, but she grabbed it's wrist, retrieved the knife in an extremely familiar fashion and proceeded to slice through parts of this creatures body, over and over again until it too vanished like dust in the wind.
And then to the east... again. She knew exactly what was down this hall way. She walked in a perfectly straight line, waiting to hear something approaching her from the darkness. The black was silent. She could only feel the minor vibrations that her own feet were creating. And then she heard a hiss by the side of her head. Her instant reaction caused her to slam her own body into the side wall and stumble backwards in a panic until she fell. She sat there, unaware of exactly where this floating head was going to be this time. Without her Zanpakutō, she could not see it. “Are you gonna run?” she heard it speak to her, it's voice as raspy as she remembered it. She could tell it was close; she could feel it's breath. The moment she pinpointed it's location, she ripped it from the air, realizing there was resistance behind her grabbing it. “What the...” she suddenly felt a hand at her neck, pushing in on her throat to choke her. It lifted her from the ground, pushing her harder into the wall behind. And again, Hikari appeared and lit up the way. This thing that was choking her was headless; she figured the head she grabbed belonged to it. The headless man raised up his other arm, revealing a clever it was holding. Before he hit her with it, she grabbed it's wrist and knocked it loose. She grabbed it and sliced through his arm, cutting it clean off. She did the same thing to his other when he still attempted to grab her. And then again to both of his legs. After that, she picked up the head and began walking along. Soon, this entire hallway was filled with light, just like the three others she had completed successfully. She didn't even hesitate to walk down the final hallway: west. She walked through the darkness as if she knew exactly where she was going. There were three turns and she did not bump into anything at all. Finally, she came to a room where all she had to do was set the head on a pedestal in the middle of the room and the final door appeared.
“Something tells me this is the one I fear the most...” Kaminari said as she felt her heart begin to race. Hikari appeared from behind her again, walking in from the darkness and stepping up to her side. “It is.” she said in agreement with Kaminari. She had noticed one thing about everything she encountered in this place. They were all connected to one event, to one person. She stepped forward and reached out to the door, hesitating for a couple of seconds before she quickly pulled it open and took a step back. Inside was not what she expected; It was a coffin. She looked confused, but she knew what she had to do. “Open it.” Hikari said and Kaminari stepped forward. She placed her hand on the side, ready to open the coffin and see what or who was inside. She felt like an hour had passed before she had the guts to open it up. Finally, she swung the coffin open and looked up to see a beautiful woman waking up from her sleep. The woman looked down to her after rubbing her eyes and Kaminari stood there stunned, shocked, surprised, and any variant of. “M-Mom...?” she muttered the word as the memories flew passed her. Her mother reached out to her with that beautifully comforting smile she remembered, but as Kaminari reached back, the hand became covered in blood. She looked from the hand and up to her mother's face, watching her mother's body ooze blood from head to toe, covering her beautiful features with the offensive red liquid. “Mom...?” Kaminari began backing away. “Are you going to run?” that raspy voice echoed out from the head and she stopped. “That's what you did last time.” the voice said. Her mother's smile suddenly faded, her eyes dulled, and her body fell forward. “No!” she darted forward instead of running and caught her mother in her arms. “Mom? Mom! I'm sorry! I'm sorry I ran. I'm sorry I left you. I was so scared. I'm sorry.” she apologized over and over again, crying as she looked down to her Mother.
“It's fine dear.” she heard her mother's voice for the first time in years. Her eyes widened as the woman's beautiful features returned and her mother graced her cheek with a small kiss. “You did well.” she said, “You did as I asked.” A moment later, her mother's body began to vanish from her arms in tiny orbs of lights that actually reminded her of her shikai. “Do you remember now?” Hikari asked and Kaminari just nodded as she began crying into her own hands. “You did well, didn't you? You kept your promise.” Hikari said and Kaminari just continued to nod. “Congratulations, Kaminari.” Hikari stood up and everything around them began to change. Torches began to appear, the walls grew and separated, windows formed to allow light in, and the entire tomb/pyramid like surrounding turned into an open courtyard. “This is much better don't you think? Just remember that no matter how bad things are... There is always light in the darkness.” Hikari just winked at her and walked around the North passage way. Everything began to move and the floor suddenly vanished under her. Kaminari began falling until suddenly she was out in the middle of a training field. When she opened her eyes, she looked around to see a few people just staring at her. “Are you okay Third Seat Hatakeyama?” they asked and she nodded, “You're crying.” Kaminari looked around shocked and then wiped her face dry. “I'm fine. I don't feel very well.” she said as she stood up, feeling a weight in her hand that she hadn't remembered. She looked toward her sword and realized it had taken on a new shape. While it was sealed it was brown and plain. In her shikai, it glowed with a bright light, but now it had taken on an elegant shape, much different than a katana. It was quite beautiful to look at. “Training tomorrow, bright and early.” she heard within the deep crevices of her mind. She had done it, though very differently than most people, Kaminari had been able to achieve bankai (2010).

| 2011-Present Time:The entire point of training her ass of for bankai was to drop into the position of Captain, but once again it was out of her reach. She was ready to apply, thinking that no one else had come forth in the past ten years, it was finally her time. Unfortunately, someone else got that position: Snopy Saika (2013). The Lieutenant at that time was Ren Kougyoku and because of the sudden appearance of this Snopy Saika, Kaminari was once again shoved to the side and right back to her Third Seat. After this, Kaminari became bitter and cocky. She was probably the only Third Seat with a bankai. Every time she wanted something more, she was just shoved to the side, treated like she was inferior. Because of this, she started acting like she knew she was better. She become arrogant, selfish, and looked down on everyone around her. People were not happy with the change. First off, they were getting used to their new Captain. Snopy Saika was his name and at first glance Kaminari was unsure of what to make of him. Tall, slender, two different colored eyes, blond, but he actually was a nice guy. The problem was Kaminari and her attitude. On a mission Kaminari was assigned to, things went very wrong. A few Menos Grande showed up and began tearing through her Squad, but Kaminari was never injured. Because of this, she acted like an egotistical jerk toward the other members who she had saved. Of course, this did not go without a much needed lecture when they returned to the Seireitei. “I understand you're proud of your ability, but you walk around like you're everyone's savior. You're not.” her Captain scolded her, “Wipe that high and mighty smirk off your face and next time a member thanks you for saving their life, accept it with grace. Take that attitude of yours down a peg before someone more powerful comes along and does it for you.” Kaminari was both shocked and pleased that she had been spoken to like that. “That kind of attitude will not be allowed on my Squad, understand?” her Captain finished and she nodded respectfully. “Understood, Captain.” she replied and then looked around at her members. No one paid attention to their conversation, which made it lot less embarrassing, but with his words in her mind and seeing everyone that was hurt, she quickly changed her attitude and straightened up, exactly like she was told. Soon, Lieutenant Kougyoku transferred out to the Kidō Corps and Kaminari was appointed as the Lieutenant of Squad Five (2023). From then, everything was fine. Kaminari and Snopy became very good friends. He was one of the first people that she was able to laugh with and didn't snap at when he made fun of her size. Of course, he wasn't making fun of her height, no. He was making fun of her flat chest. It became a running joke between the two of them, though at first it was offensive. Kaminari had to get used to it, but with Snopy's thirty three years as her Captain, it wasn't too hard. Unfortunately, that time of peace was coming to an end. In his final time as her Captain, Kaminari was forced to watch Snopy hollowfy after following him out of the Seireitei. The sight was horrifying. She couldn't tell whether Snopy was in a massive amount of pain or just going insane. She watched as a white mask appeared on his face and he fought for control over his own body. Once the hollowfying stopped, Kaminari picked him up and carried her unconscious friend back to the Seireitei. It seemed he knew exactly what happened as well because when he woke up, he said nothing to her. She had stayed the entire night to make sure he would be okay. He merely sat up in bed, stood, and walked out. An hour later, Kaminari was informed that she was being promoted to the new Captain of Squad Five and Snopy was gone (2046). She had always wanted to become Captain of Squad Five, but she never wanted it like this... Being Captain was exactly like she thought it was: lots of paperwork, lots of responsibility, perks, authority, respect, and fun. She actually did have fun being the Captain of Squad Five. Even with everything going great, some things just seemed to change. Captain Commander Tsubine von Zarkonheinz had announced his retirement from the Gotei. Over a span of five years, Kaminari fought for the position of Captain Commander and everyone thought she was going to get it, but before the final decision was made, Kaminari had to deal with another friends hollowfication. Ren Kougyoku came to her one night and explained everything that was going on. Though she hadn't talked to him in years, there was one person that she knew that Ren would be safe with. “Here. You should recognize him; he was your Captain for a while. He'll help.” she handed Ren a paper with an address for the world of the living. She hoped that Ren would be able to find Snopy there and settle her predicament. Again, Kaminari lost someone to hollowfication (2067). And soon after the decision was to be made. She and most others knew that Kaminari was going to receive the title. Unfortunately, it was suddenly snatched out from under her by Genpaku Arishima, the Lieutenant of the First. Genpaku and Kaminari were friends through Tsubine. They talked enough for Kaminari to know that he didn't even want the position in the first place, so why was she once again looked over? What the hell was wrong with her? Was she that inferior to people? What the hell did she have to do to prove that she was worth the time? She knew what she could do. Her pride was getting in the way, so not even a full day into Genpaku's Command, Kaminari went off on a mission that almost got her killed: Before The Dust Settles (2070) With the outcome of this even, Kaminari was able to accept Genpaku as her leader, but she could not accept the betrayal she felt come from Tsubine, nor could she accept that he thought her inferior to someone that was a Lieutenant. It was just insulting. After that inevitable day with Genpaku, like most women after developing an admiration for a man, Kaminari began to look a little closer than she should have. For one, there was no way in hell he would ever, ever look that close at her, and she knew that. Unfortunately for her, Kaminari couldn't help but develop a little crush on her new found Captain Commander. Of course, like most of her real or “deeper” emotions, she never showed it, but it was there. In the past thirty years, since Tsubine's vanishing and after Genpaku and Kaminari's event, everything seems to settle down. Her current Fourth Seat, Toja Hagiwara. She had his name come up in so many property damage claims that she had to finally get to know this guy. Upon meeting him, it was easy to understand where that anger came from. He was small and picked on a lot. Just showing him a little understanding and care made a huge difference. It was both lucky and unlucky that she noticed a change in him while they talked. He complained of headaches and she saw this darkness show in his eyes. He was hollowfying. The only thing Kaminari could really think was “Oh god, not again.” This was the third time she was going to have to deal with that. Getting to know Toja made it worse; his dream was to become a great Shinigami. That's all he wanted and now he was going to turn into something he did not want to be. How was she supposed to explain that to him? She couldn't. One day, one of her squad members came to her saying that Toja had gone out to help against a massive hollow attack in the World Of The Living. Kaminari immediately went after him. When she arrived, she was able to prevent Toja and her squad members from taking much damage and sent them back to the Seireitei. This was a stupid decision. Kaminari was sick and getting worse while fighting. Her movements were slow and she was about to get badly hurt when she was suddenly rescued by Tsubine. He came running in like a knight in no armor and took care of everything, including her.
Natural Abilities Unreleased Abilities And Skills:
To Listen And Feel:
These abilities come from when Kaminari was alive, but that's a story for another day. She was taught to listen and to feel. She has trained her hearing and mind to comprehend the smallest shifts in body, air, earth, water, and create a mental picture of exactly what's happening and where it's happening. She could actually hear and feel the motions and vibrations when someone chooses to take a step forward, to breath, to raise their hand, to grab a weapon. She can make out the layout of an entire room by smacking her hand against the wall and sending those vibrations through out the structure. She can listen to the different and distinct patterns and pitches in someone's voice. Even if they're in another room, she can hear the differences between people's rhythms and tell you exactly how many people are in that room. It is a marvelous skill that's extremely hard to teach and learn, but she learned it.
Note: Each ability below is in order from her most powerful and skilled to her least.
Kidō: Being the Captain of the Kidō based Squad Five practically requires you to be more then exceptional in Kidō and Kaminari is even above that. Her mastery of Kidō is beyond that of what many people have even seen! After her time practicing, Kaminari has the ability to use all Kidō known to the Shinigami and even create her own custom spells to benefit herself. Not only does she know all of them, but she is easily able to preform 80% of them without an incantation, this being any number 1-80. The Kidō she casts all contain enough power to devastate an opponent, even when she's intentionally holding back, so there are times that she will be reluctant to use it. She's not exactly one with the intent to kill, so using something that she knows probably will destroy someone is not on her to-do list, even if they are the enemy.
All of these Kidō must be taught by Kaminari for anyone else to use them. Most of them she keeps a secret until she has chosen to use them in battle, but if someone does find out about them, the likelihood of her teaching is a little on the low side depending on who the person is and whether she feels they'll be able to handle it.
- Mizuhou: This is high level Kidō that would likely be classified as 50 to 60. It can't be used by those with decent skill in Kidō and it must be taught by Kaminari. It's a strong shot of water that shoots towards a target like water coming out of an extremely powerful hose. Depending on the user, it can allow enough pressure behind it to greatly damage rock and maybe even bend or dent steal. The size of the flow dictates the amount of pressure behind it. The larger the flow, the less pressure. Kaminari is the only person with the skill to condense the water down to such a small flow that the amount of pressure behind it has the ability to cut through rock like a knife through butter.
- Shizuku: This is a medium level Kidō that would likely be classified from 30-40. It conjures a large plate of water about thirty feet above the caster. The water then slowly begins to drop in a fifty foot radius, soaking the grounds around. This type of Kidō could be used to put out fires or something of the like. It's literally just causing it to rain in a small area, though Kaminari has been known to use it to a much bigger advantage than that, combining it with lightning style Kidō or things of the like.
- Sekisho: This is a high level Kidō that would be classified around level 70. It is an extremely strong barrier that is able to protect the caster and, for Kaminari, up to five other items or people by touching them. The normal barrier is colored like the casters spiritual energy; in Kaminari's case, blue. It will only cover the caster unless intentionally extended through touch, but it always takes the shape of a sphere around the caster and protected. This means, that if five people are being protected, you could sneak a few people between those five and they two would be protected, but the barrier only extends for a maximum of five extra.
- Sandanjuu: This is a medium level Kidō that would be classed between 30 and 40 in level. This Kidō allows the creation of a total of ten high powered spheres of condensed Reiryoku. The size of these spheres depend on the power put into them, though it also depends on the power of the caster themselves. The largest sized spheres that Kaminari is able to make are around the size of a small car. Upon impact, these spheres release the energy they're created with in an explosion. The color of the spheres also mimic the color of the casters Reiryoku, in Kaminari's case they're blue.
- Tsuyo Kudaku: This is a Kidō that would definitely be classified in the high 70 to lower 80 range when it comes to the level of power and difficulty. This Kidō is what Kaminari calls an Energy Breaker or a Spirit Breaker. It is shot off in the same manner and speed of Byakurai, though is similar to a beam in appearance. It's color mimics the casters energy color. This Kidō is a condensed beam of energy that shoots out in the width of a pen. It is used on other energy attacks and upon impact with the energy attack pushes itself into the middle and collects at an extremely high speed. The moment the energy is fully collected, the energy bursts outwards and breaks apart the energy of the attack. Though it sounds like a long process, it is seemingly done upon impact of the attack. Usage depends on the caster themselves, but Kaminari is able to use this Kidō ten times before she'll begin to feel the effects of energy drainage. Note that this is only because of her master of this particular Kidō. Someone else would maybe be able to use it three to four times, even at her tier level. She can definitely use it more than ten times, but she'll be draining herself quickly.
- Teishi: This is a medium level Kidō that would be classed around 40 or 50. By concentrating reishi around the palm of his or her hand, the caster is able to merely use their hand to stop other energy attacks equal to their level in Kidō or stop one physical attack, such as a sword or punch. This happens because the reishi that is concentrated around the hand is hardened to the point where it's like armor. Kaminari has been seen using her hand to grab the Zanpakutō by merely reaching up and grabbing it. To others she stopped it with only her hand, but it was more than likely this Kidō, especially if the opponent was any close to her skill and power. Usually a Kidō shows the energy, but with this one it does not.
- Ridairekushon: This is a medium to high level Kidō that would be classified between 50 and 60 for level. This Kidō creates a line of Reiryoku within the body that acts as a conductor. It starts at the tip of one finger and moves to the other. A Kidō will hit the tip of one finger and move through this line of Reiryoku at the same speed that the Kidō moved and then be fired out the tip of the opposite hands fingers. This Kidō only works on beam or stream like attacks, such as Byakurai, Sokatsui, Raikoho, certain types of cero, and other things along those lines. This can also be a very dangerous thing to do. Since you're using your own Reiryoku to channel another person's inside your own body, it is possible to severely damage your own body and even kill you. To master such a Kidō, one would have to have perfect control over their Reiryoku and know the way the attack works. Using this against an attack you do not understand is stupid and likely will get you killed.
Hoho: Kaminari is definitely a master of hoho and the techniques within the subject. Her petite body allows her to move much quicker than most and has given her the advantage when practicing it. She is now able to keep up with those people well known in the skill and some she has likely even surpassed. Using things like Shunpo allow her to move large distances at great speeds. Doing a few hundred of these in a single day wouldn't even tire her out. She can even use the sub abilities, such as speed clones, if and when she ever feels it's necessary. Even though she has the ability to do so, she has never really attempted to advance her knowledge of anything under Hoho or create anything new to the subject. She has more than mastered all of the basics passed the point that a Captain should have to and only practices to keep her body in shape.
Zanjutsu: Being the third of the four abilities that Kaminari has practiced does not mean she is a slouch in the subject. Kaminari is well trained and knowledgeable of the arts within Zanjutsu. She has put in a large amount of practice to be able to handle a sword as well as she can and her practice has not let her down. She is no grand master of the subject, but she can hold her own in a battle of the swords against one of her own caliber. One thing she has done with the arts of Zanjutsu is practice it enough to allow her to use the gauntlets she keeps on herself at all times with this fighting style. Most people are seen using the style of Zanjutsu with a sword, but she has practiced enough to be able to use her two extra weapons as well, and is not half bad at all. She's more advanced with the art when using the gauntlets, but that's not too big of a deal for her since she almost always has her Zanpakutō on her.
Hakuda: There is definitely a reason this is number four out of these skills. She would never claim to be a master of Hakuda, and even has a problem telling people whether she's advanced in the style. This is one of the reasons why she always keeps her gauntlets on her. If she is caught without her Zanpakutō, she can use them instead of force herself into a hand-to-hand combat situation. Even though this is not her best subject, that doesn't mean that if she is forced to use her fist that she'll immediately lose the fight. She will merely be at a pretty big disadvantage. She's naturally very, very fast and can likely strike her opponent easily, but because she has concentrated so much on speed she has little to no strength behind her attack strikes. Beyond that, it seems besides the basic strikes, kicks, blocks, and whatever else you can put under the basics, her body just isn't up for full on Hakuda.
Shunko: This ultra powerful Hakuda technique that many wish they could do. People feel this technique is just Hakuda based, it's not. What makes this so powerful is Kidō. Kaminari's abilities with Kidō allow her to create the cloak around herself and use Shunko no differently than someone who practiced this with Hakuda. She is quite skilled with this, but she can only control it up to five rounds within a thread. In fact, this technique allowed her to create the new technique stated below.
Saishuu Tobikiri: (Last Choice) Using her spiritual pressure, she pushes it through the muscles in her body, allowing them to contract and stretch at a rapid and unnaturally fast paces. In lots of cases this can allow her to keep up with people who have mastered shunpo without her having to use her own shunpo. With this active, she has the ability to move at 5 times her maximum speed, and her reflexes and reactions times are through the roof, though it will slowly begin tearing her body apart. Using this is a desperate move, meaning she is likely trying desperately to protect someone or is trying her best not to die. After using it the first time, she will need an immense amount of rest and decent care. While using this technique, her body will glow a very soft blue, making her look like she has a small aura around her. This can only last three rounds of posting. It can only be used one time in a day, but it is possible to be used twice. If used twice, her body will need intensive care, if it does not kill her in the process. A third time is impossible since this technique is new to her, but with more practice it can become a possibility. When this is used, her spiritual pressure also accelerates the bodies healing process, causing her to use a very large amount of energy. Most of her wounds, including broken bones and excluding destroyed organs, will heal within 3 to 5 seconds, depending on the severity of them. After the time for this is over and she can't use it anymore, if she forces it a second time she will pass out and need each muscle in her body worked on immediately. If this does not happen, death or paralysis is likely to happen. This technique cannot be used with Etai Fyu-jon either. To use this she has to release her bankai first because it does not work with the amount of energy that her shikai allows. Because of how much spiritual pressure she uses to heal her body, Kaminari is not able to use her Shikai or Bankai while this is active or afterward.
Other Weapons:
Twin Gauntlets: On each of her wrists, Kaminari possesses two steel gauntlets that are plated with gold and decorated with an elegant design. They close around both of her lower arms, locking in place on the undersides of her arms. The gauntlets are 13 inches long and cover her entire lower arm, from below the elbow to her wrist. There is a small button that extends to the palm of her hand and reaches directly to the middle of her palm. When this button is pushed, a foot long steel blade shoots out over the back of her hand. The button isn't one that is easily pushed either. It is purposely encased in a small and strong cover that allows only her finger own to move through it so she doesn't have to worry about accidentally pressing it and hurting someone. It does this by automatically recognizing her spiritual pressure. This also makes it where no one else will be able to use her gauntlets. When she wishes to retract the blade, she merely pushes the button again and it retracts into her gauntlet. When she wishes to remove the gauntlets, which will rarely if not ever happen, she has a key locked away at her home within the Seireitei. Kaminari is able to channel certain Kidō through her gauntlets as well: Byakurai, Sokatsui, Raikoho, and other 'beam' class Kidō.
Zanpakutō: Zanpakutō Release Phrase: Illuminate (Terasu, 照らす)
Zanpakutō Spirit Zanpakutō Spirit Name: Hikari no Tenshi (Angel Of Light, 光の天使) Zanpakutō Spirit Appearance: Hikari is a vibrant young woman with blonde hair that reaches a little passed her shoulders. She's got blue eyes and one hell of a bright smile. Though she's not as small as Kaminari, she's a mere 5'4” and has a pretty nice figure. She's usually wearing a few light pieces of armor on her upper torso, lower arms, shins, knees, and torso. Under the armor is what looks to be a full body skin tight blue suit of some sort. As if to add a little feminine decoration, there are small pieces of decorative lace-like fabric hanging around her waist like a skirt and on her upper shoulders like a small cape. Zanpakutō Spirit Personality: Hikari is quite the energetic, cheerful, and slightly obnoxious young woman that can take on the epitome of a dumb blonde quite easily. She's got a horribly terrifying laugh that you just can't help, but laugh along with and has this strange obsession with the idea of what a 'double rainbow' means, even though she knows the scientific explanation for it. Over all, Hikari is a kind young with a positive look on just about everything. She pushes Kaminari to do her best by telling her that they “can do this” and tells her to keep her focus so everything goes well. When the two of them succeed, she'll say “I love it when a plan comes together”. Even though she's got this overall bubbly kindness about her, she does have the ability to be cocky. Something she will often say to Kaminari's opponents, even if they can't hear her, is “With your power level, I suggest you forfeit instead!” She's confident in Kaminari's abilities and the two enjoy working along side each other. With them, it's more like a partnership than anything else. There are times that Hikari will speak up and tell Kaminari what to do and what not to do if she needs help. They not only like working together, but they are good at it. Zanpakutō Spirit's World: Kaminari's inner world can be frightening for her. There are two stages it can take. The first and more pleasant stage is when she is clear of mind, accepting, and pretty happy with her life. It's a large courtyard, similar to how you'd see in a castle. There are flowers everywhere and the ceiling is made of glass, bending into a dome shape. The ground is made of a white stone and that is where Hikari and Kaminari train. When it's in the second stage, Kaminari is full of doubt, fear, or repressing memories in some sort of way. Something negative is happening in her life if she is seeing this in her inner world. Her inner world forces her to accept things, to get over them, to forgive, and even to remember things that she has forgotten over the years. The massive courtyard that was once beautiful turns into a dark tomb-like room with a ceiling only five feet above her head. Around her is nothing but a deep darkness. It is so dark that you cannot see your hand if it was an inch in front of your face. If she some how gains sight, she will realize that in each direction are pathways she can take; the number of ways is equal to the number of events or memories she has chosen to forget, repress, or hold a grudge against. She must go down each of these ways and face whatever she needs to face to regain a stability in her life.
Shikai Shikai: (Rukusu, ルクス) Shikai Appearance: Upon it's activation, Kaminari's katana begins to glow very brightly. The light is pretty much blinding to anyone that looks at it and often acts as a distraction or a way to not allow them to see correctly when she's attacking. Because Kaminari's Shikai creates light using her own Reiryoku, none of her attacks hurt her, anyone she deems innocent, or her allies. The light that shines out of her sword holds fifty 'charges' upon activation and increases by two for each round of posting that her shikai is active.
Shikai Abilities:
Illumination: This is a passive ability of Kaminari's shikai. If any of her other attacks have hit a target, a mark of illumination is left on them. To activate this mark, Kaminari must hit them with any of her other attacks, which cause the attack to do 30% more damage than it normally would have. This has to be done within ten seconds of the last attack, otherwise the mark vanishes. This mark is re-applied any time the target is hit by any of her other abilities. It is not re-applied if it is doing the bonus damage. This happens because the marking attack keeps residue of her reiryoku on the opponent. The moment another attack hits, that left over reiryoku sends an extra attack in the same manner at the area that is hit, causing the 30% extra damage. The damage it does depends on the type of attack. Example: If it's a cut, the wound will be 30% wider, a stab 30% deeper, a burn 30 percent stronger burn, etc...
Luminance: ( 1 charge) This is Kaminari's most basic attack. It is a small strip of light energy that she shoots from the tip of her Zanpakutō. It is about the size of a poker card, but moves at 55 miles per hour, or 80 ft per second. Because of it's small size it can be hard to see coming, but also does not do very much damage on impact. When it does impact, it'll feel the same way when a human gets hit by a baseball and do minor burn damage.
Blinding Light: (1 charge) By releasing a sudden burst of light energy from her sword, an extremely bright blinding light shoots out from her blade to make it hard for her opponent and anyone else within ten feet of her to see. Anyone farther might have to cover their eyes, but this is mainly an ability that allows Kaminari a momentary advantage over a melee fighter since most of her abilities are based off of ranged attacking and defending. It only lasts for one second. This does not leave Illumination on anything.
Brilliant Crescent: (3 charges) This is an attack the mimics Kaminari's swing in every way. The first way is length, the size of the crescent that is sent forth. It is always five inches wide, but the size of the crescent differs and is dictated by how wide Kaminari's swing is. If she does a full swing, she can create a crescent that is twelve feet long(tall), however you wish to imagine it. The second way it mimics her swing is how fast she chooses to swing the blade. She can swing her sword anywhere from a mere 30 to 150 miles per hour, or 44 to 220 feet per second. The crescent that is sent out will mimic the speed she swings her sword at exactly.
Light Binding: (4 charges) This is an attack that gives Kaminari a short moment of advantage. It is a ball about the size of a soccer ball that is shot forth from the tip of her Zanpakutō. This attack does no damage to the person. Instead, it instantly spreads Kaminari's energy over the body of the target and stuns them, making them unable to move for .5 seconds. The first strike, the ball that is shot out from the tip of her blade, travels out at medium to high speed (200-300 mph). It can travel up to fifteen feet away, that is it's max range.
Prismatic Barrier: (2 charges) This is a boomerang-like defensive move that allows the usage of two shields. The shields are able to deflect a single attack, whether energy based or physical, making a total of two attacks possible to be blocked.. With a swing of her sword, the barrier shoots out and leaves her with a shield already around her. Any ally that it passes through is shielded as well. Once it hits twenty five feet, it shoots right back towards Kaminari, allowing her to regain the barrier once again. The way she regains the barrier is if after it's first launched she is hit and then it comes back. If it is launched and she is not hit, then she has the same shield and is only able to block one, instead of the possible two attacks. The barrier travels at 34 miles per hour so the barrier returns to her within a second.
Final Spark: (8 charges) Final Spark is the strongest of the attacks that Kaminari has. It can be easy and hard to dodge depending on the the person being attacked is. First off, it is a 100ft long strip of light that fries any enemy in it's path. A semi-invisible wave of energy is shot out in a single direction at a 100 miles per hour, or 146ft per second. This means the energy is sent out and completely in .68 seconds. After that, it takes .32 seconds for the energy to ignite and expand within a five foot width. Those caught within this five foot wide, one hundred foot long beam of light will be heavily burnt, receiving second to third degree burns on the skin. Even if she has enough charges, Kaminari can only use Final Spark once a post.
Lucent Singularity: (4 charges each) This is one of the more used and more interesting attacks that Kaminari's Shikai has. Starting off with it's appearance, it's a ball of spiraling light energy that has a rainbow effect within the light. It is shot off from the tip of Kaminari's blade towards a location of her choosing. Once it is shot off to that location, whether on ground or in the air, Kaminari has three rounds of posts before it explodes and blasts anyone within a 10 foot radius of the spiral. Kaminari does have the ability to set it off early. When it is set off, it causes a burning damage similar to fire, but it's really just extreme heat caused by the concentration of light energy. If it is shot towards a person and is successful in making impact with them, it will explode on impact and do a massive amount of burn damage. It travels at 75 miles per hour, meaning it travels 110 ft per second.
Bankai Bankai: Guiding Light (Shirube Hikari , 導光) Bankai Appearance:
Bankai Abilities: Kaminari's bankai is the full force of her shikai. Every single number that represents range, distance, speed, strength, power, damage, etc... in her shikai is tripled in her bankai (Excluding Charges). If something reached 100 in her shikai, it now reaches 300. Upon the activation of her bankai, Kaminari gains an extra 150 charges. Numbers that represent how fast an attack goes off are cut in half. Example: Final Sparks ignition time is no longer .32, but .16 seconds. These charges now recharge at four every round of posts instead of two. Illumination's passive ability is increased by another 20 percent, so it now does 50% bonus damage when the mark is triggered.
Pyramid Of Light: This is the only way to describe what Kaminari's bankai becomes. Upon activation, the surrounding area is covered in a pyramid of light. The light is actually energy moving at such a high speed in the shape of a pyramid that it looks like sheets of white glass. At each 'connection”, the four bottom points and the top point of the pyramid, is a Lucent Singularity that is continuously absorbing and exerting the energy to create the sides of the pyramid. This pyramid is 500 feet wide at the base and 350 feet tall. Anyone within that distance is instantly locked inside of the pyramid upon Kaminari's bankai being activated. This pyramid does nothing beside prevent anyone else from getting in or out without heavily, heavily, heavily damaging their own bodies and provide Kaminari with a speed of light mode of transportation. If Kaminari chooses to do so, or she's knocked into the side of the pyramid, her body is seemingly absorbed into the light. She will reemerge in super short moments later in a completely different area of the pyramid and attack as she sees fit. While she is in the walls of the pyramid she is traveling at the speed of light, though her perception of time is so slowed that she can choose when to come out at the perfect time and place. Once she's out, she moves at ten times her normal speed, able to keep an extremely small fraction of the momentum that the pyramids speed has given her. The point of her bankai is to confine people to a much smaller area than they're used to and force them to fight in her medium range, giving her the advantage until they are able to catch up.
