| "I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me... All I ask is that you respect me as your Captain, the rest is not important" Basics Name: Nobuyuki, Yoshimitsu True Age: 315 years old Date of Birth: April 4 Zodiac: Aries Chinese Zodiac: Wood Monkey Gender: Male Education: Shin'ō Academy Personality: A lot of things can be said about Yoshimitsu, though only those that have taken the time to actually get to know him are eligible enough to say a word about what he is really like. As a Captain of the Seventh division, he was the one that came in after Sajin Komamura stepped down, the man that was his Captain for a great deal of years. He learned a lot from his old Captain and friend, things that helped him become a better person and a better Captain, protecting those in his Squad. To break his personality down into pieces, the best ways to describe him would be the following. "Loyal" One of the things he grew up with in the Nobuyuki house and under the guidance of Sajin Komamura is his great loyalty to the Sereitei and his squad. His loyalty is one of the leading bits of his personality, trying to stand as a shining example for all the Soul reapers in the seventh division, even for others that watch him. As the head of the noble Nobuyuki family house, a great deal of people know him, and respect him for his hard work and status. Yoshimitsu does not truly enjoy getting the whole honorable and special treatment because he hails from one of the noble families, and has worked his entire life to earn the respect he gets from people, this being the best and only kind of respect he would allow. Some people tend to eat up all this fake respect for all the wrong reasons, and Yoshimitsu would never want to become someone like that. His loyalty stretches further then his Squad, the Gotei 13 and the Sereitei, for he is very loyal towards his friends, dead set on keeping them safe from whatever source might try to harm them. If his friends did something to offend the Sereitei, he would go on as long as possible to plead for their safety, even if that means having to step out of line, something he would never do if he does not have a damn good reason to do so. Like the other Captains, he takes his duties very seriously, and tends to work them out before doing anything else, something he is trying to pass on to the members of his Squad. "Protective" As a Captain of the Gotei 13, being protective is just a thing that a Shinigami picks up along the way, or they should not bother becoming a member of it's squads. As a child to the Nobuyuki, he has grown up among people that felt very strongly for one another, and would do whatever they could to protect each other, as well as the honor of the family. Protecting the family had always been held in high regards, seeing as every single member of the family has grown up to become a splendid Shinigami and a respected member of their squad. After finishing the Shin'o academy and streaming into the Seventh Squad, under the leadership of Love Aikawa. He was not really the kind of example Yoshimitsu would follow, being too laid back and into ero-manga, though he kept this to himself so he would not stain his reputation. When Sajin Komamura followed him up as the new Captain, he had an example of how everyone in the Gotei 13 should be. Having a heart of gold and an undying loyalty to the Sereitei, Yoshimitsu took over similar traits, staying with him for the rest of his life. After taking over as Captain not too long ago, these ideals still burn as bright as the hottest pyres, believing that as a Captain, he has to do more then just protect his family and friends, because at the end of the day, he is also responsible for his Squad members, and will not allow any of them to fall while he still draws breath. Even though there is a lot that needs to be protected when becoming Head of a royal family and a Gotei squad, his undying loyalty and urge to protect will never waver, and all enemies will feel the righteous might of the Sereitei when they would make a move against them. "Traditional" Yoshimitsu is a fan of the old ways, enjoying the traditional celebrations within the Soul society, even enjoying tea ceremonies every now and then, doing so with any of the Captains that would accompany him, or simply keeping it between him and his Vice Captain. It is an old tradition of the Nobuyuki family to have ceremonial tea parties, for they had been closely entwined with Captain Commander Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, having helped him with the creation and maintaining of the Shin'o Academy, having a monthly ceremony with the man for many years, up until the time of his death. Ever since the old man died, the family had decided to keep the ceremony up as a way of honoring the things he once enjoyed doing. Next to this, he enjoys to drink Sake with his friends and his Squad, even though he is much more of a light weight then he is willing to admit to. Watches today's world, he does not like what humans are using to fight one another, using weapons such as tanks, guns and weapons of mass destruction, rather then engaging in a one on one fight with their weapon of choice, fighting until one either gave up or until the other died. He believes that the modern humans have given up all forms of honor, and have simply surrender them to the motion of winning at all costs, not caring how many innocents might get in the way. If it was up to him, the human world would have been stripped of harmful technology, forcing them to once again fight with skills and traditional weapons such as swords, bows and staves. Yoshimitsu will hold on to the old ways, even within the Soul society, which leads to him not being a big fan of Science, nor the science department. "Headstrong" Stubborn, Headstrong, Thick headed, those are just several ways of calling Yoshimitsu, though the bottom line is that he will simply refuse to lose an argument or a fight. His ideals are things he always holds on to, so whenever someone would try to sway him into abandoning the things he believes in, he will keep arguing that his point of view is the right one, not letting up for even a second. Honor and Pride, two of the things he will protect either with words or with actions, are things some people would argue, though he will keep persuading people until they can see things in the same way as him. When push comes to shove, and Yoshimitsu has to fight someone, his thick headedness will keep him from simply falling to the enemy without going to the absolute limit of his body. He is a Captain, and a Captain is not supposed to go down, no matter what the circumstances might be, while his leadership over the family pushes him that much further. In a lot of weighs, it is highly unhealthy to keep pushing his body beyond it's known limits, though that is just the price he has chosen to pay. Yoshimitsu will never go down while there is still blood pumping through his veins and as long as there is still air in his lungs, meaning he needs to be fully obliterated before he chooses to back down. Paired with his potential anger issues, the fact that he is so set on things can become quite problematic, leading to some tricky situations. It can make him relatively stubborn, and believe that he is right to be angry, making it quite a bit harder to explain that he is overreacting. "Angry" Yoshimitsu is a very calm person, and very few have ever seen him lost his cool, a thing that rarely ever happens. When the wrong buttons are pushed however, he becomes the incarnate of anger, his reiatsu fluctuating and the expression on his face changing into a constipated one, almost as if he tries to still hold it back. When he is angered, he can give some very snibby answers, and might not seem like the best person to talk to during that period of time, which is in fact the best way to handle it. When this happens during battle, he is only steps away from exploding in rage. As a noble family head, his anger is incredibly well controlled, meaning these levels of anger are very hard to reach through to, though it is certainly there. When enraged, he is generally not allowed to be in fights anymore, his powers being too uncontrolled during fits of rage, creating some very dangerous situations for both friends and foes. Because of this, Yoshimitsu rarely goes into battle with several people, especially when there might be emotional strain in it for him. On more then one occasion, Yoshimitsu had been the cause of destroying the surrounding area together with his opponent, causing the Soul society to have quite a bit to clean up. When his friends or relatives get hurt in front of him, his anger will push him further then most people consider to be possible, destroying every single person that would try to stop him in his revenge. "Intelligent & Insightful" Hailing from one of the four noble houses, Yoshimitsu had been under years and years of studying under the finest teachers and trainers, ranging from sword training to the history of the Soul society. Knowing next to everything about the Sereitei, it's underground passages and it's defenses, the history of the thirteen court guardians and bits and pieces about the Spirit king's realm, he is a very well educated individual. Due to his age, he was around during the time of the Captains Hollowfication, Yoruichi, Tessai and Kisuke's defection, Sosuke Aizen's theft of the Hougyoku and eventual defection with Kaname Tosen and Ichimaru Gin, up to the war against the Espada, the sealing of Aizen and the war against the Vandenreich. As such, he knows a fair deal about the different races, having gained a minor understanding of their powers and origins. This is not nearly everything though, as his intelligence runs into skill, and understand of techniques too. Due to his skills in Swordsmanship and Hakuda, he is quite capable of looking into his opponent's attack patterns, and quickly dissect it so he can create more perfect counters, or dodge them with relative ease. When fighting him, it is quite smart not to follow the same pattern, for he will just memorize them and use one of his own techniques to counter, and most likely end the fight. "Fun" Yoshimitsu has a sense of humor, something the members of the seventh squad welcome quite a bit, having been under Komamura for a long time, missing the fun Love Aikawa brought with him, finding Yoshimitsu to be a good balance of the two. Just because he can be fun, does not mean that he always is fun, and he makes sure everyone around him is very well aware of that, because they are members of the Gotei, and should take things seriously, rather then to go about things in a funny fashion. He had been on that side of the story, and he knew that it would not end well for everyone, just like it had done to him in the past. Despite his serious exterior, leading the Nobuyuki family and his job as Captain of the Seventh squad, he is quite capable of taking jokes and having fun with people he knows. He only tends to joke around with people he knows, remaining rather cold and closed to those he does not really know a whole lot about. Doing things such as making up names he considers to be funny, playing around with people during spars and having simple jokes with people of his squad, he is not known to be a very funny individual. General Appearance Appearance: Yoshimitsu has the body of a young male in his early twenties, having light brown eyes while his brown hair is short but still messy. He has light tanned skin with three scars on his left cheek the goes up to above his eyebrow, as well as an additional scar stemming from his shoulder across his chest to his torso. Most of these scars have been inflicted on him during fights with Hollow or other students in the Shin'o academy a long couple of years ago. The scars used to be so much bigger then they are now, and he is no longer bothered with them at all, believing them to add some character. His body is quite muscular, working out every day in the Dojo of the Nobuyuki family estate, keeping himself in great shape. Being 1,92m in height, he is not the tallest among the Captains, though he is certainly not the shortest one either. Next to the small scars above and below his eye, the scar running across his chest used to be a rather deep one, and stands out quite a bit when he is not wearing a shirt anymore. His 90 Kilograms of weight are mostly due to muscle weighing more then fat, this leading to him being relatively heavy for his size. Yoshimitsu wears the standard Shinigami outfit, however, he has several pieces of armor on him that belonged to his father before him, and has been in his family for many hundreds or even several thousands of years. On top of his Shinigami attire, he also wears his Captain's Haori, being in a prestine condition, as a Captain should be having his Haori. He believes that people such as Zaraki Kenpachi are way too careless with priceless pieces of clothing such as the Haori that have been in the Soul society for hundreds or thousands of years. His wrists are adorned with the wrist guards of the Nobuyuki, a red shoulder plate adorned on top of his Captains Haori showing that he is both the leader of the seventh division, and the head of the Nobuyuki, the noble family always having been a proud one, wearing red and grey pieces that signify the noble house. Where the Kuchiki would wear Kenseikan, and the head of the family also wear a scard made from white silk flowers, the Nobuyuki wear pieces of red and grey armor, the single shoulder plate showing that he is their leader, together with the red lining added near the collar of his Captain's Haori. Appearance Age: 24 Years old Height: 1,92m Weight: 90 Kilograms Natural Abilities Reiatsu color: Bright Red Master Swordsmanship Specialist: The one thing Yoshimitsu truly excels at is using his Zanpakuto, be it in it's regular form or in its released states. Completely in tune with his sword as a result of his Jinzen training, he is completely synchronized, and wields his sword like an extension of his own arm. Together with his Shikai and Bankai, his skills with a Zanpakuto allowed him to rapidly master both of them, even though they both have distinctly different shapes then his ordinary unreleased blade. His mastery over his Zanpakuto is the one thing he has in his arsenal that truly makes him stand out above the other Vice captains and even several Captains. Capable of fighting most people in terms of raw speed and power, he can hold his own in a fight against Ichigo Kurosaki and Kenpachi Zaraki. Not just that, but he has never lost a single fight after he unleashed his Bankai, which is quite a feat, even for a Captain of the Thirteen Court Squads. During his time as a Shinigami, Yoshimitsu has mastered various schools of Sword Martial Arts. - Iaijutsu Master (居合術)
Iaijutsu is a combative sword-drawing art but not necessarily an aggressive art because iaijutsu is also a counterattack-oriented art. Iaijutsu technique may be used aggressively to wage a premeditated surprise attack against an unsuspecting enemy. By rapidly drawing the blade from the scabbard, it is used to gather large amounts of force in it's swing, the force being high enough to cut through limbs, or even through an entire human body, depending on the raw strength and speed belonging to the user. The strikes are only as strong as the wielder, and as such, Yoshimitsu is one of the finest specimen. Within the Soul society, there are few more capable Iaijutsu practitioners, and even less masters of the style. When mixing this with his other styles, few can beat him in terms of swordplay.
- Kenjutsu Master (剣術)
A kenjutsuist relies on the conditions of the ground, light source, as well as the opponents' capabilities, before implementing a practical attack. The attack is not set on any particular weapon or move to capitulate. Nor is there a predisposed target or trajectory - any exposed part of the opponents body is a possible target. To be effective, a kenjutsu strike/or counter-strike is a composition of several techniques: feigning, cutting, jabbing, thrusting, parrying or binding, footwork, choice of weapon, and even knowing the opponents weapon. When parrying, it is common to always point the tip or cutting edge at the opponent, so all that is needed is a minor step in order to engage in a quick counter attack. Most of this is done with two hands at all times, and works perfectly with Iaijutsu.
- Battōjutsu Master (抜刀術)
meaning techniques for engaging a sword. It is often used interchangeably with Iaijutsu and Kenjutsu, The emphasis of training in battō-jutsu is on cutting with the sword. All terms are somewhat more specific than kenjutsu or kendō, as the latter two refer mostly to techniques where the sword is already out of its scabbard and is therefore engaged in combat. Battō-jutsu usually incorporates multiple cuts after drawing the sword. The emphasis of training in iaidō is on reaction to unknown situations, or reacting to sudden attack. After Iaijutsu is applied, Battōjutsu can be applied to send several rapid cuts at the opponent, followed by the fighting stances and techniques of Kenjutsu.
Hoho Expert: Even though he does not use it as often as he used to, Yoshimitsu is quite skilled in the use of Shunpo, capable of rapidly closing the distance between him and his opponent, or by creating a gap between him and someone else's attack. His skills in the flash step area allow him to execute several techniques that only some of the most skilled Hoho users are capable of. Using it mostly during moments of fighting with his heavier weapons like the Shikai and Bankai forms of his swords, for they more or less hold him back in terms of speed. He is not as proficient at using Hoho like Yoruichi or Byakuya, though he is skilled enough to keep up with them, lacking the fancy tricks and skills they learned by themselves, but still owning a few. Hakuda Expert: During his time in the Shin'O academy, Yoshimitsu did not really get along well with his sword, and preferred to fight with his bare hands. He was one of the best Hakuda based fighters in the Academy, rivaled only by Kensei Muguruma, the one person that was skilled enough to beat him at it. Learning how to disarm others with weapons, break or dislocate limbs and even shatter a Hollow's mask with his fists. Mixing punches and kicks with high speed steps from the Hoho school, he is by far one of the most prominent Hakuda using Captain classed Shinigami. Strangely enough, the Martial arts Yoshimitsu bothered learning are those that combine several other fighting styles and arts, allowing him to learn at a much faster rate. - Kickboxing Expert (キックボクシング)
Kickboxing is a martial art that combines a group of martial arts and stand-up combat sports based on kicking and punching, historically developed from Karate, Muay Thai and Western boxing. Kickboxing is often practiced for self-defense, general fitness, or as a contact sport. Yoshimitsu started working on this art during his time in the Shin'O academy, becoming potent enough to beat other students with relative ease. Up to this day, he still practices this art in order to keep up his Hakuda skills that are needed for his Krav Maga techniques, which in turn help him to rapidly diffuse a situation before it escalates into a full fledged fight.
- Krav Maga Expert
Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and extremely efficient, brutal counter-attacks. Krav Maga has a philosophy emphasizing threat neutralization, simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers, and aggression. Krav Maga promotes finishing a fight as quickly as possible. Attacks are aimed at the most vulnerable parts of the body, and training is not limited to techniques that avoid severe injury. Drills provide maximum safety to students by the use of protective equipment and the use of reasonable force. Among others, Krav Maga involves karate, boxing, muay Thai, kickboxing, jujutsu, wrestling, and grappling techniques. For people who have trained one or more of these martial arts before will have a much easier time learning what this style can teach, Yoshimitsu having no problems with applying these during battle. Great Spiritual Power: Yoshimitsu possesses a Captain level Reiryoku, and can easily incapacitate lesser beings such as regular hollows, humans and Shinigami by simply releasing his energy by facing in their direction. Having always had power beyond those in his class or squad, he is considered as one of the young prodigy children born to one of the Royal families every thousand years. His tremendous Reiatsu is closely related to his Zanpakuto and it's abilities, having the power to turn into a weapon of mass destruction if he does not control it. As a Captain, he can easily control his Reiryoku to hide himself from the radar entirely when he created a fair distance between himself and others, or make his energy appear like much less in order to put people on the wrong foot. When he releases the full brunt of his Reiatsu, a massive torrent of red energy burst from his body, towering up into the sky and reaching up for many tens of meters. In terms of Reiatsu, Yoshimitsu has a lot in common with people like Ichigo Kurosaki in that he can not control the full brunt of it at once, leading to his two-staged Bankai. During his Bankai, his Reiatsu towers up far into the cloud, looking like a brilliant red pillar of justice and retribution, a shining beacon for all the Shinigami of the Sereitei.
- Damage Resistance: He can also use it as a sort of armor, making it impossible for him to be harmed by anyone not at his level of power. By focusing his Reiryoku beneath his skin as a form of secondary skin of steel like proportions, it becomes incredibly hard to harm Yoshimitsu. Yoshimitsu knows that it is incredibly hard for him to be hit, and applies this mostly when showing off, or when fighting opponents beneath his level of power. This is comparable to an Arrancar's Hierro.
Kido Practitioner: Yoshimitsu is not very good at using Kido, never having really spent a lot of time on it, instead working hard on things such as Hakuda, Hoho and Zanjutsu, leaving him with the lowest level Kido. The only Kido he knows how to use are Sai, Hainawa, Seki, Geki, Hyorin, Sho, Byakurai, Kyomon and Hiryū Gekizoku Shinten Raihō, one of the strongest Hado spells in the book. He only uses this when he has enough time to chant, and can't win solely by fighting in close combat. Few know that he can use this spell, while even less people know how much he sucks at using it. People like Hachigen took pity on his poor Kido usage, though he never cared enough to take the help people offered him, for Kido was not something he cared a whole lot about. Zanpakutō: In it's unreleased form, Kabutowari looks just like any other Zanpakuto, a Katana with a red felt handle and a darker red scabbard. The only thing that really stands out about the sword is it's black steel blade and almost silver cutting edge, being slightly different then most other unreleased swords. The blade has a golden guard shaped like a circle, having a spiky protrusion on the four sides, these being the north, west, south and east side. Zanpakutō Release Phrase: " Shield and Shatter, Kabutowari" Other Weapons: Yoshimitsu does not have any additional weapons or items on him, though he does have a few pieces of armor on him that are a part of his families traditional regalia, things he has had on him since he started at the Academy. These include bracers on both hands, protecting his wrists from getting cut by the enemy, a red metal collar sown into his Captain's Haori, and a large shoulder piece on his left shoulder. As is accustomed by the Nobuyuki family, these pieces are mostly colored red and dark grey, the colors of the family. Zanpakutō Spirit Zanpakutō Spirit Name: Kabutowari (Helmet Splitter, 兜割) Zanpakutō Spirit Appearance: Kabutowari is not what you would call the most attractive thing in the world, he is in fact what would be considered the exact opposite of this. Not looking remotely like a human, it is a large bipedal beast with black hooves, red skin, black spikes protruding from all over his body and large antler-shaped horns sticking out of his skull. In most respects, he could be called a demonic Minotaur, having the man-bull shaped body, and several features of a full fledged demon. With menacing yellow eyes, it's as if he is always in a mood to simply lash out at Yoshimitsu whenever he is in his Inner sanctum. With his hunched back and over-sized fists, he can easily destroy stone, spikes protruding from his knuckles like natural enhancements. The center horns on his head look like the antlers of a deer, having a somewhat curled and twisted shape. The lower horns are a lot shorter, and have metal rings around them, looking like they had been seared into it. Finally, the horns on the top of his head are incredibly short, and are hardly worth mentioning. Both his horns and the spikes on his body share their appearance with Obsidian, a volcanic glass with an intense dark color, it's shape resembling minerals such as diamond. Wearing leather underwear and leather straps around his wrists, he does not seem to have any other forms of clothing on him. The point of having clothes on was basically ruined by the great many protruding spikes sticking out all over his body, making clothing and the like rather useless. Zanpakutō Spirit Personality: Kabutowari is a couple of things, but things he is not are forgiving, gentle and caring. He is a very tough teacher, and will not stand for tardiness at all, lashing out at Yoshi whenever he is slacking off. He does however have a funny and sadistic side, posing as a pretty young woman the first time they met in Kabutowari's inner world, only to pop out of it's fake form to show it's monstrous form and startling Yoshi, snorting and smirking when he did so. He believes that being reluctant to draw a weapon for battle is weakness, and does not like it when Yoshimitsu attacks the enemy with his hands, rather then with Kabutowari. Kabutowari feels a need to draw as much blood as possible in battle, gorging itself in the red liquid as one would normally sing in a shower or be at peace when taking a hot bath. When covered in blood, it's handle will become warm, almost as if it's his way of showing Yoshimitsu that he is happy, and wants him to keep holding the blade to spill more blood. Perhaps it is due to Kabutowari's personality that Yoshimitsu learned how to fight without having to use his weapon, knowing the bloodlust of his his blade, and that all it truly enjoys is to kill. It often scares him that Kabutowari is an aspect of his soul, finding it hard to believe that all of that aggression, rage and bloodlust is actually inside of him. Kabutowari does not mind to often remind him of this, and as such, the relationship between the two outside of battle is not as great as it should be. Zanpakutō Spirit's World: Contrary to the looks of the blood craving monster, Kabutowari's inner world may yet be the most peaceful one of all other Zanpakuto. The world exists out of a large green grove, that is home to the monstrosity, living in a large cavern. The world is overgrown with grass, colorful flowers and blossoming trees, which was quite a shocker to Yoshimitsu when he first saw it, knowing that if it would have been anything like Kabutowari, it would have been a blood soaked wasteland, barren of all life. Next to the cavern, there is a large clearing in the center of the forest that is often used by Kabutowari and Yoshimitsu to do jinzen training. When in distress, the inner world will be colored red entirely, other then that having no changes made to the environment. Shikai Shikai: Kabutowari (Helmet Splitter, 兜割) Shikai Appearance: Kabutowari takes the shape of a large Zanbatou classed weapon with a unique semi-perfect ring near the handle of the sword, acting as it's guard. Not much is to be said about the shape of the blade, other then the fractured piece near the tip of the blade. This is not an impurity, rather then how the blade itself has been modeled. 90% of the blade is made out of a black steel, the cutting edge of the blade having a much lighter shade of grey, almost comparable to silver. The blade has a handle that was made out of a red felt, wrapped around it for the perfect grip. As a Zanpakuto, the blade weighs little to nothing to the wielder, as it is an extension of his soul, and was made for him, to be used by him alone. Kabutowari has a couple of distinct abilities that make it unique, just like every Zanpakuto is in their respective way unique. As a weapon, it is used mainly as an offensive tool, using it's weight and size to push the enemy back, or push through defenses to deal the maximum amount of damage. It's sheer power is capable of bifurcating an enemy when they get careless around it, for the blade can reach quite a bit further then the average Zanpakuto can. Shikai Abilities: Kabutowari is a melee type weapon, though one of it's powers is to defend the user against Reiryoku based attacks such as the Hollow's Cero, Soul reaper Kido and even Quincy arrows. Be it defenses or attacks fired against him, Kabutowari has developed several means of countering attacks used against his master. Some consider the techniques to be sneaky and underhanded, though it does not matter to him if it's underhanded or not, as long as it can save lives, and take those of the enemy. Kabutowari: Tate: Tate, or Shield, is one of the techniques used by Kabutowari, using the blade to expel some of the users own Reiryoku and then cutting at an incoming Reiryoku based attack. The sword uses this Reiryoku to form a tennis-like effect, simply redirecting the attack used against him and striking it into a designated direction. This only works against larger and more direct techniques such as a Cero or Bala, but is pretty much useless against attacks used in rapid succession like Quincy arrows. This technique shares a cooldown with Esa, for these two techniques are often used together in battle, rarely used solo. Kabutowari: Esa Esa, or Feed, is one of the techniques used by Kabutowari. When a Reiryoku based attack is used against him, this technique can be initiated by holding it in front of the user, almost as if to be used as a shield to hide behind. When the attack hits the sword, "Tate" will push most of the energy outward, away from his wielder, letting "Esa" feed on the Reiryoku that is still coming at him. By feeding on the attack, 15% of each attack is saved inside of the blade. These percentages are stored and stacked upon one another inside of the blade. Esa can only be used once every two posts, for the blade has to take a moment of rest after eating a large amount of foreign energy, needing time to place and store this energy before the next attack can be properly countered. When Esa is on cooldown, Tate is also incapable of being used, the two techniques requiring the Zanpakuto to focus itself on the fight, rather then the stolen energy inside of it. This can make a fight rather tricky once the enemy finds out. Kabutowari: Kire Kire, or Slice, is one of the techniques used by Kabutowari, using the wielders Reiryoku, and the Reiryoku it has devoured by using the Esa technique. By coating the blade in a faint red energy, he will cut in a desired direction and send out the Reiryoku in the form of a red crescent, ravaging whatever it hits. A normal "Kire" causes 100% damage, that being the normal amount of damage it can deal. When it has been feeding on alien Reiryoku repeatedly, the percentages can go up to 500%, which can cause immense amounts of damage in battle, and is most likely the reason why Kabutowari is a feared weapon. Bankai Bankai: Kokuou Kabutowari (King's Helmet Splitter, 霊兜割) Bankai Appearance: Kokuou Kabutowari is very different then most other Bankai, and is most easily comparable in shape to Ikkaku Madarame's Ryuumon Hozukimaru. When released, red reiatsu will jump out from his body, pushing everyone around him away with tremendous force, his Reiatsu pillaring up into the air, lightning bolts sparking up every now and then as a result of the hot and cold air currents that are generated clash against one another, making it quite a spectacle. Once the storm dies down, Yoshimitsu will be clad in red and grey armor, large pauldrons covering his shoulders, plated armor defending his back and a protrusion sticking out above his head, taking the shape of a gold and red horn, similar in appearance to the horn of a Stag beetle, or Kabutomushi. Next to the pauldrons, the armor and the horn like appendage, the wrist guards grow out to become full fledged gauntlets, further protecting his body, and adding more grip to the large weapons generated during the Bankai phase of Kokuou Kabutowari. Perhaps the most interesting part of the Bankai are the weapons, for Kabutowari splits up into two very large bladed weapons that any normal person would wield with two hands, but due to his Zanpakuto being weightless to him, he can wield both of them with one hand. Having very thick handles, both blades have some unique traits that make them different then the others. Bankai Traits: The two swords that Yoshimitsu wields during his Bankai can be recalled to his hand by using a form of synchronized wavelength between the gauntlet and the weapon. If one of the weapons is out of his hand, he can use his Reiryoku to summon it back to his hand, coming back to him in a spinning motion, cutting through everything that's in it's way, until it reaches Yoshimitsu's hand, landing perfectly in the palm of his hand without harming him. This took a lot of training to perfect, but it will always land in his hand without any kind of problems. Bankai Abilities: Just like it's Shikai, Kokuou Kabutowari has three very distinct powers based around raw power and anti-reiryoku. In this form however, it is no longer held in just one blade, but split between the two blades, called "East" and "West". The best way to describe it's powers would be to break them down entirely, the information found below. What both of these blades share, is an ability that functions by feeding on the Reiryoku of others, enhancing the cutting edge of the blade when stored inside of the armor. Unlike the previous Shikai form, Kabutowari can absorb and enhance it's power by an additional 900%, making the maximum output of Kokuou Kabutowari equal 1000%. Functioning by using the "Esa" technique to feed on other people's Reiryoku, storing a certain amount of energy that adds 15% to the already present 100%. These amounts stack, every extra energy making the Zanpakuto more sturdy and sharp. Every additional 100% stored inside of the weapon makes it a great deal stronger then it was before. Kabutowari North: Esa: Esa, or Feed, is one of the techniques used by Kabutowari. This technique can be used with both blades, the ability switching to whichever side is required to block an attack. Kabutowari East: Tate: The Cleaver like blade held by his right hand is the one that took over the ability to function as an Anti-Reiryoku shield. Tate, or Shield, is one of the techniques used by Kabutowari, using the blade to expel some of the users own Reiryoku and then cutting at an incoming Reiryoku based attack. The Bankai version of this technique can even rebound attacks back to it's source. Kabutowari West: Kire: The Zanbatou like blade held by his left hand is the one that took over the ability to function as a weapon that lets out the stored energy in the form of a crescent wave. Kire, or Slice, is one of the techniques used by Kabutowari, using the wielders Reiryoku, and the Reiryoku it has devoured by using the Esa technique. By coating the blade in a faint red energy, he will cut in a desired direction and send out the Reiryoku in the form of a red crescent, ravaging whatever it hits. A normal "Kire" causes 100% damage, that being the normal amount of damage it can deal. When it has been feeding on alien Reiryoku repeatedly, the percentages for Bankai can go up to 1000%, which can cause immense amounts of damage in battle, and is most likely the reason why Kabutowari is a feared weapon. When used at the full 1000%, which is normally never going to happen in a one on one fight, though the full brunt of this attack can obliterate whatever it hits, the crescent stretching out for roughly one kilometer, destroying pretty much every defense and life-form in it's way. Kabutowari South: Fukumaden: The final technique of Kokuou Kabutowari, called Abode of Demons, is a technique that becomes available once Yoshimitsu has gathered over 200% energy inside of his Bankai. By uttering the words " Shin Bankai: Fukumaden", his Reiatsu will create a massive torrent of energy that pushes everything around him away, disintegrating the large sections of armor and breaking them down into particles. These particles then gather on his being, creating a much smaller, more compressed plates of armor, similar to that of a Samurai, having the color and shape of the Nobuyuki family heirlooms. This technique is what initiates the true Bankai stated below. Shin Bankai Shin-Bankai Name: Kokuou Kabutowari Fukumaden (King Helmet Splitter's Abode of Demons, 霊兜割鬼のすみか) Shin-Bankai Appearance: This is a special power that belongs to Kokuou Kabutowari, and is considered a "Secondary" or "True Bankai" by the members of the Gotei. In a way, they consider Kokuou Kabutowari's Bankai to be in a Larvae state, that once it has gathered enough energy, allows it to fully release it's full potential. This stage drastically changes the entire shape of the Bankai into what is known as a "Compressed" form, meaning it is incredibly powerful, yet contained and easier to handle. It's been theorized that this secondary form is a result of his incredible amounts of Reiatsu, making an ordinary Bankai too unstable, requiring the blade to feed on outside energy in order to stabilize his own, allowing the transformation into it's True Bankai state. As the heavy armor plating is stripped down to nothing but particles, they reform on his body, creating pieces of armor similar to a Samurai Yoroi, having the traditional colors of his family, the Nobuyuki. When the two large weapons break down, they become something new, compressed into the shape of one sword, very similar in appearance to his Shikai, being only a little bit smaller, making it more easy to handle it by one hand. The armor around his hands becomes more dense, taking on darker colors, a plated belt forming around his waist, greaves forming up to his knees and the massive plates that used to be on his shoulders compressed into smaller, yet more powerful plates. Now, what is most likely the most distinct about this form is the pair of wings and horns of red Reiryoku, formed on his body. The horns do not have any added ability, though the wings are very solid, and allow him to maneuver way better during aerial fights, moving at a much faster pace, with much greater stability. Shin-Bankai Traits:Enhanced speed: During Shin-Bankai, the compressed power of the energy stored inside of him, paired with the full brunt of his own Reiatsu allows him to move faster then he normally would. This is not a massive boost, as his physical speed is only enhanced by roughly 20%, though his flying speed is incredibly high. His flying speed is equal to his movement speed with an added 50%. Enhanced armor: During Shin-Bankai, the armor on his body becomes quite as sturdy as a result of the over-sized armor compressing together into a much smaller form. This is both more fashionable and makes him lighter, removing some of the strain, thus allowing more freedom to his maneuverability. Enhanced blade: During Shin-Bankai, the Zanbatou he wields is equal to the density and cutting power of both blades combined, effectively making it twice as strong as it was during Bankai. This cutting power can be enhanced as more stolen energy is stored inside, every additional 100% of energy increasing it's cutting power by 2x. Kabutowari North: Esa: Esa, or Feed, is one of the techniques used by Kabutowari. Kabutowari East: Tate: Tate, or Shield, is one of the techniques used by Kabutowari, using the blade to expel some of the users own Reiryoku and then cutting at an incoming Reiryoku based attack. The Bankai version of this technique can even rebound attacks back to it's source. Kabutowari West: Kire: Kire, or Slice, is one of the techniques used by Kabutowari, using the wielders Reiryoku, and the Reiryoku it has devoured by using the Esa technique. By coating the blade in a faint red energy, he will cut in a desired direction and send out the Reiryoku in the form of a red crescent, ravaging whatever it hits. A normal "Kire" causes 200% damage, that being the normal amount of damage it can deal during Shin-Bankai. Kabutowari: Rampancy: The ultimate technique of Kokuou Kabutowari Fukumaden, channeling all Reiryoku into the blade, causing it to start glowing red-hot, causing the horns on his head to become twice their size, the wings on his back becoming twice as big as well. This technique is called Rampancy because all of the energy he stole will fluctuate, and truly run rampant inside of him, forcing itself out through the horns, wings, blade and armor. This causes him to become clad in a red Reiryoku armor that will protect him from incoming attacks for one post, while the destructive power caused by this technique is something that others would be wise to avoid. Dealing a base amount of 200% damage, this attack can cause the blade to become the epicenter of power, meaning that the moment it makes contact with his opponent, a crescent of red Reiryoku will be sent out as point-blank range, taking the opponent with it in the blast, causing third degree burns, broken bones and torn muscles to those that manage to survive the attack in some way. This means that an unprotected target will most likely die right away, their very being torn into so many pieces that they can't even be called dust anymore. After using this technique, his Shin-Bankai shuts down, making this a last resort technique.

"Yoshimitsu as a child, often called Monkey Boy"
"Birth Arc" 315 years ago, Yoshimitsu was born to the Nobuyuki family, the oldest son of Chiyo and Koichi Nobuyuki. As the oldest son of the family head, Yoshimitsu would one day become the next leader of the noble family in charge of the Shin'o Academy, putting quite some strain on in his education. This did not keep his parents from finding time next to their own duties to still love him, and his siblings born several years later. As a child, he was incredibly quiet, and rarely ever cried, leading his parents and relatives to believe that he had fallen ill, even though this was proven to not be the case after several tests. During this period of time, the Captain Commander, an old friend of Koichi Nobuyuki's father came to see the baby several times during tea ceremonies, showing physical astonishment at the boy's peacefulness, even when the old man picked him up and held him in his arms. Most children would cry when waking up from their sleep, something Yoshimitsu never did, only making squeaking sounds when he was hungry or thirsty. Only at a later age would he recognize how much he had been honored by knowing Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto from his first year of age. Even if it was only because he was the son to a noble family, it was still a feat that not even his two greatest disciples, Jushiro and Shunsui had been blessed with in life. Koichi was the son of Baraku Nobuyuki, one of the men that invested greatly in the Shin'o academy built by Captain commander Yamamoto, and as such had become quite close with the old man, who was still relatively young back then. Not much else can be told about the boy's early years, because nothing notable happened after that day.
"Growing Up Arc" As a child that grew up within the confines of his family estate, Yoshimitsu got used to the peace and serenity of their large gardens and large Koi ponds. Most of his days were spent with playing around in the garden, leading some of the noble kids such as Yoruichi, who was a couple of years older then him, to call him "Monkey boy". This was a very accurate name, considering he was spending his time swinging upside down in trees or playing around with sticks of bamboo. Next to the accuracy of the name, he was also quite a cheeky kid who had a the face of a monkey, which made the name into more of a gimmick. It did not take long for the name to catch on, as several of his younger brothers and sisters started using it on him too, something he was not always that happy with. As much as others enjoyed it, that's how much he hated it, though with the years, he cared less and less about it, until he eventually got over it entirely. For a noble child, Yoshimitsu's childhood lasted very long, not being all that stuck up with learning on a young age, with many thanks to his parents. They wanted their children to have a childhood, rather then to be thrown right into adulthood, believing it to not be the right thing to do, and that people who never knew what it was like to be a child could never truly become an adult. This was something they did for all of their children, and it seemed to work out very well for everyone, each member of the family turning out to become a respectable adult in the future.
By the time Yoshimitsu stopped playing around with the other kids and put his playthings aside, it was finally time for him to learn about the future that had been laid out for him. Getting a private tutor, he had to learn all there was to know about the history of the Nobuyuki family, the soul society and even the basics of the other dimensions such as Hueco mundo, the material world and the Dangai. The young boy had an affinity for learning, though his antics took to making things a little bit harder for him, not all of his teachers being as capable of taking a joke as the other. These jokes of his did not last long during Kendo practice, for his tutor would smack him over the head with his boken, teaching him to respect the ways of the sword and come to accept them as an art form that would one day be able to save his life, and the lives of others if he took it seriously. The ferocity shown by this man every day during his training hours shrugged of on the boy, and after about a year, he had become fairly proficient with the boken, though this was in no way similar to being a skilled master of the Zanpakuto, a thing he would earn later on in his life. Through the home schooling method, Yoshimitsu became incredibly knowledgeable with the history of the Dimension he lived in and those around it, the history of the Soul society and their wars, and the art of Kendo. When it would be time for him to go to the Shin'o academy, these lessons in Kendo would surely turn out to be extremely helpful, though it would still be several more years before he could go there.
"Shin'o Academy Arc" Yoshimitsu's time in the Academy started of badly, having several problems with getting into the vibe, not being used to the place or the people in it. Because people streamed in from the noble houses, the lesser houses and even the Rukongai, there were a lot of different kinds of people he had to get used to, which was rather hard at first. This did not stop him from trying to be liked by people, choosing to be the guy people felt good with, rather then the noble kid that pushed everyone around him away due to some superiority complex. Several of the noble family students had something like it going for them, though Yoshimitsu did not want to become one of those guys that was only liked because he had wealth and power, but because he had a like-able personality. He had always been a very insightful person, and had little trouble with figuring out what people felt, and when people were feeling bad. Being quite a softy back in the days, he was the kind of person that would wait around for the lesser students to catch up before advancing, meaning he never really stood at the top of a class, because there had never been any classes for compassion in the Sereitei. In the academy, he was very different then people such as Kensei Muguruma, who got by on mean looks and action, remaining quiet and only stepping up when he needed to practice in class. It just went to show that everyone is different, and that there are no such things as perfection, not even for Soul reapers and nobles.
Next to the personal interaction with the other students, there were a lot of classes that had to be taken by him, because as the son of the noble Nobuyuki, he had to participate in, and eventually pass all of the Shin'o Academy classes, or he would not be considered good enough to become the new successor to the family. One of the things he had a lot of problems with was Kido, hearing stories of people blowing themselves up when putting too much power into their Hado spells, which frightened him that much more. Bakudo was relatively easy for him, but because he only had to pass the beginner classes on all-around Kido, or advanced Bakudo/Hado, he went for the basics of both, taking several extra classes on the side to polish his spell weaving a bit more. Because of his additional classes, he learned how to use a number 88 Hado spell that was considered way out of his league, and would never truly be something he would apply in battle. Despite that, he still learned it, and managed to cast the spell when he had to pass the test, passing with a good score, especially for a class he sucked at.
"Becoming a Soul Reaper Arc" After passing the Shin'o academy, he streamed into the seventh division, put under Captain Love Aikawa, a man that was rather carefree and kind, but was known to be an incredibly unforgiving and brutal man in battle. Under him, Yoshimitsu learned a lot of things that help him out as a Captain of the squad to this very day, because kindness to the men is something that rewards itself over time, something cruelty and regulations alone would never be able to do. During the time of his admission to the Seventh Squad, Yoruichi had already become a Captain of the Onmitsukido, meaning she beat him to reaching higher ranks, though he figured she'd done the most to deserve it. To most people, Yoshimitsu was always the kid that sat somewhere in the middle of class, the one that no one took interest in because he never really said enough to be noticed. When he did speak up, people took to either disregarding it or just not hearing it at all, which was likely why him and Yoruichi had never become friends during their childhood. It was most likely for that reason that he had not made any real friends aside the acquaintances he had within the soul society, something he never truly kept in high regards. Despite this, he always acted nice and kind to those around him, causing most people to take a liking to him. One of the only things that mattered to him was his family, their honor being the one thing worth upholding more then that of his own. It was not something that was encouraged within the squad, for they were the ones in charge with the internal affairs of the Soul society, meaning they had to care about it more then about personal matters. Yoshimitsu loved the Sereitei, and when he started viewing his family as part of it, rather then a loose affiliated party, it became a lot easier for him to show genuine affection towards the thing as a whole.
With Yoruichi being so much higher in standards then him already, it seemed like now would be the best time to train more and become stronger, strong enough to one day show her that in the time she sat on her behind and acted as the Captain for the Onmitsukido, he would have become just as strong as her, if not stronger. There were many people he wished to surpass, people such as his Captain, Love Aikawa, and the man that had been the Captain Commander for many hundreds of years, Captain Yamamoto. He had set his sights on surpassing her because she was the one closest to him in terms of age, and her being skilled enough to become a captain already was something he could not let go of so easily, turning it into a matter of personal honor. Training hard with the Zanpakuto spirit that hated his gut for being a normal person and not a bloodthirsty psychopath, months went by before he had mastered his Shikai, and started working on ways in which he could unleash his Bankai for the first time. Fighting Kabutowari every single day to get what he wanted by giving Kabutowari what it wanted, he eventually got to learn more about his Bankai, and learned what it took to unleash it. Now, the news of it taking several years to master a Bankai was not something he enjoyed, because who knew what could happen in the meantime. He had to show her what he could do now, before his chances might pass before his eyes. Unfortunately, that which he had been fearing was what happened to him, finding the Sereitei in disarray during the time he got there to find her. As it turned out, several Captains and Vice Captains had broken the rules, and several had been sentenced to death. During the sentence, it seemed that she had gone in to mess up the verdict in the Central 46 headquarters, shortly before all of them defected and disappeared.
"Soul Reaper Advancement Arc" After the troubles with the Hollowfication of his and several other captains, paired with the defection of Yoruichi, Kisuke and Tessai, a lot of things needed to be changed within the Soul Society, having lost a great deal of Captains and Vice Captains, people once believed to be worthy of trust that just stood up and left everyone behind. For a true follower of the Sereitei's well being, the sudden departure of people he looked up to was very shocking, though it was too late for him to do anything about it. All the people that left, including his old Captain and someone he knew from his childhood had both left without a word, one of the things he considered to be betrayal of the highest degree. It was rather simple for him, for his nice and kind approach had not been able to help anyone, and everyone simply walked out of the Soul society in mere minutes. For his betrayal, he would take the next years to become a stronger warrior, a swordsman that had no equal, just so his blade could be the one that would cut down his former Captain, together with all the others that walked out. Taking all the time he had to work on his Bankai, he took several years to master it in battle, fighting other Soul reapers whenever he got the chance, doing so during practice and when people provoked him in the barracks. It was not always the best thing for his reputation, though he did not really care about the negativity it brought with it, as long as his power and skills grew.
When Sajin Komamura took over as the new Captain of the Seventh division, he was given a new role model Captain that he looked up to quite a bit. He seemed to be the kind of person that did not really seem to be driven by aggression or hate, and seemed to be one of the more even tempered people he had seen in a long time. He was very different then his former Captain, both in terms of personality and appearance, having the shape of an anthropomorphic wolf. Not just that, but he even had a dog that made it's home in the seventh squad barracks, an animal that got along quite well with Yoshimitsu. It was good for him to see that the squad was getting itself back together, much like the rest of the Sereitei was picking up where the traitors had left them. During that time, many younger Shinigami showed themselves to be very capable fighters, people that started to shine during the time of dismay inside the Soul society, showing that the Shinigami were not that easy to weaken. With a new resolve, Yoshimitsu intensified his training, choosing to become strong enough to become a Vice Captain, if not a Captain in due time. Having all the time in the world, he kept training as long and hard as possible, keeping it up for years. For a solid hundred years, he continued to be the strong and silent type, training hard every single day so he too could become strong enough to take on those that betrayed the Sereitei, the people that betrayed him.
During the fight against the Arrancar Army, he was not asked to be a part of the defending force, being a third seat Shinigami, watching as only his Captain and Vice Captain went off into the fray. It was horrible for him to be left out like this, though it was during the fight that Yoshimitsu kept the Seventh Squad organized and under control when all of the fighting was going down, and eventually reached the Soul society when Sosuke Aizen and Gin Ichimaru made it to the real Karakura town hidden in the Sereitei.
"Captain of the Seventh Squad Arc" One of the things he had to let go of was his intense hatred for the traitors of the Soul society that had returned during their time of need, when the Sereitei took the fight to the Arrancar in Karakura, and they helped out the Gotei 13 in their fight against Aizen's army of Espada. Though the way he truly felt remained inside of his heart, he kept it hidden from the other Soul reapers, believing that things such as that would only bring turmoil to the Sereitei. As Captain of the seventh squad, it was his job to maintain the peace and take care of the trouble inside of the city, so that was out of the question. He'd most likely never truly regain his respect for these people after what they did, though there was nothing he could do if the Sereitei did not determine it to be the right course of action. With the anger still inside of him, he tries to steer it into doing good things with it, working his body with the extra energy and training those new to his squad when he feels like it.
Shortly after becoming the Captain of the Seventh Squad, he made some rather big changes to the squad, keeping what Sajin Komamura had instated, but slightly loosening some of the regulations. One of the good things that came with Captain Aikawa were the more loose regulations for the members of the Squad, allowing people to do more in their free time and on their day off, having no fear of suddenly being dragged back into the division headquarters during these days. Something he recently instated is that every friday night is sake night, a night for all the members of the squad to take the night of and sit together in the barracks, drinking on Yoshimitsu's tab.

| Powers, Techniques & Abilities"Zanjutsu" As a master of sword related combat, Yoshimitsu knows how to use every Zanjutsu technique in the book, though he only chooses to use several of them, believing some to be incredibly redundant. He learned all of them, because it is considered shameful for a Shinigami to not learn a single Zanjutsu technique, this being why he learned every single one of them, plus several of his own, making sure that there would be no possibility of his swordplay being considered shameful. Quick attacks, one handed cuts and two handed bifurcation moves. Zaraki Kenpachi is the Captain that is most well known for having great skill in Zanjutsu, though Yoshimitsu considers his own swordplay to be just as good as his, despite not having the tremendous force he has behind his strikes. Unlike him, Yoshimitsu tends to contain his power, rather then destroying everything around him like a mad beast. Due to the multitude of forms his Zanpakuto takes throughout it's unreleased, Shikai and Bankai stages, most of these techniques are only used when using a particular form of his Kabutowari. The techniques he can use within the Zanjutsu school are the following.
- Hitotsume: Nadegiri (撫で斬り, "The First: Killing Stroke")
This basic technique allows for a precision cut of extreme force and speed, it can casually slice through large, multi-story high opponents protected by steel skin. The opponent can be killed with one swift slash that is so precise, that they aren't even aware of it until after it has taken place. This is one of the two techniques that he has learned from Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, and is very proud of.
- Senmaioroshi (千枚卸, "Thousand-Page Wholesale")
A technique where multiple blade movements take place so fast that they can literally shred a target into pieces. Depending on the strength and speed of the user, the amount of cuts can be multiplied greatly, making it look like only several cuts have been made, not noticing the majority of the cuts at all.
- Ryōdan (両断, "Bisection")
A Kendo technique that increases the power of a slash by using a two-hand hold on a the swords handle. The slash can cleave an opponent in two. The blade moves at great speeds and even more incredible strength, the attack itself can cause the ground to crack open and shatter beneath the pressure.
- Agitowari (顎割, "Chin/Jaw Splitting")
A sword technique where a single sword attack cuts an opponent in half from the jaw down the length of the body until the target is bi-sectioned.
- Ibitsu Aida (ゆがま, Spacial distortion)
A sword technique performed by a single hand, showing great speed by spinning the blade's handle and using the blade in a windmill like fashion, creating a shield against projectiles until the spinning is stopped. This is a technique created by Yoshimitsu himself, mixing his physical speed and sword specialization into something that can disengage arrows, knives and even kido.
"Hakuda" Throughout his life, Yoshimitsu has learned quite some Hakuda techniques, together with the fighting styles he has adopted as his own. Preferring to take down his enemies without having to kill them, he learned how to apply several techniques that can easily be use to incapacitate his enemies without forcing himself to draw his Zanpakuto, applying simple force with his bare hands. Despite not being a member of the Onmitsukido, he has taken it upon himself to at least learn how to fight without the use of a weapon, something increasingly less people want to spend time on, hiding behind their weapon as much as possible. With the wrist guards covering the back of his hands, he can easily protect himself against bladed weaponry using Hakuda, while the Gauntlets he wears during his Bankai, his Hakuda is enhanced by the metal plating. In his quest to learn as much as possible, the following techniques are Hakuda related ones that he has mastered.
- Ikkotsu (一骨, '"Single Bone"')
A powerful punch executed with a single hand. Using this technique, a physically powerful fighter can physically shatter armor or flesh, sending people flying around like rag-dolls. This technique is most likely the third or second most powerful Hakuda based attack there is, outmatched by Sokkotsu, basically a double Ikkotsu. Yoshimitsu has not learned how to use Sokkotsu, not having the skill required to pull it off yet, but being skilled enough with Ikkotsu to virtually slap someone's head straight off.
- Oni Dekopin (鬼デコピン, "Demon Headpoke")
A technique where a simple finger flick has enough physical force to send an opponent flying a considerable distance away, even with enough power to crash through multiple physical constructs. Yoshimitsu never really applies this technique in battle, using it solely to mock others, or to play around with people during a spar. Believing it to be a technique unfit for battle, he simply refuses to use it in such cases, considering it to be an attack without grace.
- Sandobaggu Bīto (サンドバッグ・ビート, Sandbag Beat)
A technique where the user delivers multiple strikes at an extremely fast pace causing aggravated damage to a target. The technique is powerful enough to not only shatter a Menos Grande's mask but utterly destroy its body. This technique was originally Kensei's technique, though Yoshimitsu copied it after seeing it several time during his time in the Shin'o Academy.
- Tsukiyubi (撞指, Thrust Fingers)
A technique where simply extending the index and middle fingers of one hand in unison, while they are in contact with an opponent, possesses enough physical force to effortlessly send someone flying several meters away. Like Oni Dekopin, this is not a technique that Yoshimitsu wants to apply during combat, and uses solely when he wants to toy with someone, or when he is in a friendly spar.
"Hoho" The arts surrounding the Flash step, something Yoshimitsu is quite proficient at using. Not being as skilled as the flash goddess herself, nor having flashy skills such as Shunko, he is very skilled at using the regular flash step when needed. Thanks to the many years of experience, his eyes can still keep up with other people that use Shunpo, especially when focusing on one person in general, making the whole process a lot easier. Though slower then people such as Ichigo Kurosaki and Yoruichi Shihouin, he is around the same level of speed as Byakuya Kuchiki, though lacking most of the skills he has. Regarding Hoho, his only known skill is the Flash step, not needing any other fancy skills in order to be a good Captain. "Kido" Kido, the one thing that Yoshimitsu utterly sucks at, and is considered to be one of the worst at using, beaten among the Captains only by Zaraki Kenpachi, who seems to not posses a single Kido spell. Knowing little over ten Kido spells, the majority of his spells are binding by nature, preferring to learn these over the ones that could only destroy, his Zanpakuto being more then capable enough of doing just that. One of the reasons why he learned Kido is to go with his Hakuda, reducing the chances of killing someone in a fight by binding their limbs, rather then cutting them to pieces or blowing them to bits.
- Bakudō # 1. Sai (塞, Restrain)
This is a restraining spell that contains the limbs to immobilize the enemy. The practitioner points using his/her index and middle fingers at the intended target(s), causing the target's arms to lock behind their back. The spell is usable on a single target or a significantly large group of people.
- Bakudō # 4. Hainawa (這縄, Crawling Rope)
Binds enemies with a Reishi rope to stop their movement. The practitioner generates a crackling yellow energy rope within his/her hand(s) and releases toward the opponent. The energy entangles itself around the opponents arms and body, immobilizing them.
- Bakudō # 8. Seki (斥, Repulse)
Seki is primarily used for deflection. The practitioner generates an orb of light blue energy that rebounds an attack when said attack makes contact with it. The effect not only blocks the attack, but repels whatever strikes it.
- Bakudō # 9. Geki (撃, Strike)
Geki is primarily used for disabling. The practitioner draws the symbols of the spell in the air which causes his/her entire body to permeate a red energy. The same red energy engulfs the body of the target and causes complete paralysis.
- Bakudō # 9. Hōrin (崩輪, Disintegrating Circle)
Hōrin is primarily used to disable. The practioner uses the index and middle fingers and generates an orange hued tendril with spiraling yellow patterns to ensnare the opponent as the tendril wraps around their body immobilizing them. The end of it remains in the hands of the user allowing them to control the path of the tendril before and after capture. The Kidō is able to connect with another one of itself if both have captured a target and bind them together.
Hado are the spells Yoshimitsu always struggled with the most, especially in the academy when people told him that some students had been blown up by a spell gone wrong. Because of this, he only learned two lesser Hado spells, and only those that had no risk of exploding. Despite this, he managed to learn one of the most powerful Kido that is generally only used by members of the Kido corps. At least with that spell, he can prove that he does in fact know the incantations and a very high classified destruction spell. - Hadō #1. Shō (衝, Thrust)
Rudimentary Hadō. Inflicts impact instead of damage. The practitioner points at the target with his/her index finger and generates a small force that thrusts the target back a few feet away from the caster.
- Hadō #4. Byakurai (白雷, Pale Lightning)
Gathers high-density spiritual energy and discharges it from both hands. The practitioner points at the intended target with their index finger and generates a concentrated lightning bolt.
- Hadō #88. Hiryū Gekizoku Shinten Raihō (飛竜撃賊震天雷炮, Flying Dragon-Striking Heaven-Shaking Thunder Cannon)
A high-level Hadō that only master-class Kidō users can use. The practitioner raises his/her arm forward and outstretched, occasionally using their free hand to grip the firing arm for extra support, with the palm facing flat toward the target and fires a gigantic beam of electrical and spiritual energy powerful enough to produce an enormous explosion.
Yoshimitsu knows a few spells that do not officially belong to Hado or Bakudo, specific spells that have been made for various situations, most of them solely based around the creation of defensive barriers to protect friendlies, or to temporarily seal in enemies. These spells are not numbered, because there is no measurement to compare them to, though Yoshimitsu has gained the opportunity to learn a few of them. - Unknown. Kyōmon (鏡門, Mirror Door)
An high level force field that deflects attacks from the outside. It is difficult to break from the outside, but quite simple to break from the inside.
- Tanma Otoshi (タンマ落とし, Time-Out Drop)
The user of this technique holds the palm of their hand over the victim's face. White light emanates from their hand, disorientating the victim and causing them to black out.
