Personality: A man who trusts his machine more than the common man. His superiors mean nothing. There are only two orders he obeys-the order to sortie and those given by his machine. He trusts no man, woman, or child. He has no faith in them. He has no belief in their version of "enemy" and "friend." It is only what his machine says. If his machine says "enemy"-then it is an enemy. If it says "friend"... then until it starts firing on them or gets a lock-on-then it is a friend. There are only two types of friends to him—those that his machine says and those that he had as friends before he was under the puppeteer's spell. Those that are decided by the machine are more trustworthy to him—as his machine would never lie (in his mind, mind you [pun intended]). However, that is not to say that he dislikes his friends from before. No, he still likes them... but he has a habit of not trusting them. Though that is tied in with a paranoia of his. This could be why he fell under the spell of the puppeteer.

Masumi's paranoia is actually pretty common. He believes there someone or something always watching him, always listening, and always within arm's reach. To him, the only safe place is inside his machine (which is why he doesn't let anyone else handle internal maintenance). And thus those that try to pry him away from it are trying to "get" him... whatever that means at the time. Despite these... or rather because of these psychological issues, Masumi is definitely an almost-ideal test pilot. He's always reporting if someone minor feels off about the machine. He always makes sure the mechanics are doing their job, and if they aren't he takes their place. He won't take pictures of him and the machine and tag it "#swag" and "#yolo" and post it on MyBook or whatever the new hot social networking site is. Actually, he stays far away from those things, but that's not the point. He isn't one to give away secrets of the machine in a slip of the tongue. He's not afraid to push the machine to its limits while also being safe. And best of all, he will never not get in the machine.

As a normal soldier, Masumi shows no mercy. He won't hesitate. Lock the target. Pull the trigger. Repeat. And eventually there's a reload, but he isn't going to stop firing just because it's a child, a woman, or an elder. If they are an enemy in his machine's eyes... then he will gun them down. It's not like he gets pleasure from it. No, he just gets... safety. And that's it. When outside of combat, Masumi has had the police called on him for looking suspicious. They didn't know if he was going to commit suicide or commit mass-murder when they called. He has this slouched posture with a dark black trenchcoat... and this strange smile on his face. It honestly just creeps people out. Don't think he'll hold a door open or give you his taxi. He doesn't know you, so why the hell should he? That even applies to friends. While it may be seen as rude, it's simply to protect that hard-yet-fragile shield he has around himself.

Natural Abilities

Natural Abilities: Masumi is an excellent computer technician outside of his powers. He wrote the movement code for the machine he's testing from scratch after the original one written by the designers was too slow. He was also part of the teams that did the designing of LISSE (Linked Information Support SystEm), and SESTINA (SElf Supporting Target INformation Artifcial intelligence), and AUTANS (AUtonomous Target AcquisitioN System); as well as the recent overhaul of JACOBA (Joint Advanced COmmand Artifcial intelligence). He's very skilled with a short combat knife, but that's about it. He has no real skill in martial arts or in marksman ship—he barely passed those on his entrance into the military. However, he does have one skill... he doesn't remember how he learned it, but he calls it "ghost walking." He can walk without making a sound and without leaving too much of a trace behind. This is especially helpful in wooded areas, where the slightest hint could give away his location.

Abilities: Masumi's power isn't something he can control. It's constantly active, creating a sort-of barrier around him. Essentially, the barrier is of "specialized" electrical discharges. Not a single one is harmful to a normal human, but if you have a prosthetic anything... if it's not analog, then you could be in some danger. And truthfully, it's not dangerous to machines—it won't fry their circuits. The discharges set a "puppeteer" computer, which is affected the most. Its program is re-written to protect Masumi at all costs, and thus there is only one puppeteer. It also increases the processing effeciency by 100×, meaning the "puppeteer" computer can even access military databases to gain control of, for example, a UAV to protect Masumi. However, that is the blunt way of doing it. Outside of the "puppeteer" machine, there are the "puppet" machines. These are the everyday electronics he comes into contact with. Things such as ATMs, vending machines, GPS, motion-activated doors, etc. are all capable of being turned into "puppet" machines just by Masumi getting within two meters of them. When turned into a puppet machine, nothing really changes. They continue working as normal. That is until Masumi is in danger. Then, all of the puppet machines in the area spring into action. ATMs throw money at incredible speed for papercuts, traffic lights flash erratically to create seizures, anything with speakers produces sounds that can break eardrums, etc. Whenever that happens, Masumi gets a flash of random numbers at letters in his vision. The main resistance to becoming a puppet machine is an electromagnetic barrier, like a black box on airplanes. The best resistance is to be on a closed-circuit or to be analog with things. This is why, for example, Ares can not be hacked into by the puppeteer. However, Masumi has no idea what is going on, and the fact that whenever a camera is turned into a puppet it faces him if possible just adds to his paranoia. When a puppeteer machine is set, Masumi is essentially hypnotized by it. It becomes an addiction to him. A puppeteer can transfer its data to another similar machine (if it were in a car, it couldn't transfer to an airplane, but it could transfer to a bus) if it finds its current body to be failing in its mission to protect Masumi. Until it is destroyed without a similar system nearby, Masumi will continue to be under its hypnosis until another puppeteer is set.
