Basics
Name: Emilia Rosa Bianchi
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Personality: Flirtatious, provocative, and all woman--Emilia has the looks and the goods, and she'll make sure that any man (or sufficiently-bent woman) in her vicinity understands this. Every one of her movements is purposeful, and every one of her words has a point. Although she's capable of--and can go through with--idle chatter, she's more or less inclined to speak with gravity and need. As such, she has become very good at reading people, along with their body language and general inclination towards her. She struts her stuff when necessary, and isn't exactly against using less-than-savory methods to get what she wants--to a limit, of course. It's easy enough to point out Emilia's body language and call her both a slut and a whore; but it's just not true--she's only imitating what she's been shown. If she were to be bedded, she would not only have no idea what to do, but be completely embarrassed the entire time. She has no notion of sexuality yet, nor does she have any idea what the male reproductive parts do--whenever she's shown something, her manager usually pulls her away. She is, at her core, exceptionally innocent and quiet about XXX things.
Of course, this provocative girl doesn't just have a provocative nature. That's her public face--that's the fact of Lilli, the singer and idol. Privately, sure she can be about the same, but even then she is a lot more demure. She understands that he family disapproves of her career as an artist--but she loves them anyway. She understands that she is classed as an embarrassment--but she doesn't care. At her core, she completely loves her family and would do anything for them. She dotes on her sister like nothing else, and yet is also completely aware of her independence. It's an unusual balancing act that she has undertaken to complete the path that she has, but she knows that she can do it as long as she puts her mind to it.
She is very self-confident and assured, certain that as long as she takes the right chances, she'll be in the clear with no matter what she does. She always looks for threats, and she always tries to assess a situation before going in. However, this self-assurance can occasionally be her downfall, pushing her to miss several things that others may have caught, and getting herself caught in a trap that she could have easily avoided had she taken two more minutes to check her surroundings. She is easily-goaded, and will respond negatively to severe taunts, as well as threats aimed towards her family. She can be pulled quickly into a battle with someone who pushes her buttons correctly, even if she knows that's exactly what they're doing.
Misc Trivia:
- She smokes, though usually to calm her nerves.
- Both her singing and her speaking are in a heavy Italian accent.
- Her artistic name is Lilli.
- She dyed her hair, both to give herself a unique image, and to differentiate herself from her family.
- She has a tattoo on her lower back.

Natural Abilities
Natural Abilities: Skilled with the Rapier: Although she cannot fight with many other weapons, Emilia will almost always have a rapier within arm's reach, and she is extremely skilled with it, having taken fencing while she was younger and keeping up that training until today. If she does not feel that she can safely use her powers in battle, she will instead grab her weapon and use this to defend herself until she can. She is not a killer, however.
Qi Abilities
Type: Jìnéng
Abilities: Emilia's powers are rather simple when you come to think of them. Although she became a singer by choice, this was not merely a basic reason. All of her most important powers are based around the concept of 'Anima', or Soul. Of course, because everything is based upon the soul in the universe, it doesn't exactly make Emilia's powers the same as everyone else.
The name of Emilia's powers is known as 'Anima Risonanza'. It is the reason that she's such an accomplished singer, as well as the crux of her battle technique. In short, every single syllable that leaves Emilia's mouth is filled to the brim with Qi. That Qi, on its own, does very little but resonate within the spirits of anyone who hears her voice. In terms of singing, it can, to a very lesser degree, manipulate the emotions of those who listen to her sing, as the emotion of her song is resonated throughout their very self. She can sing a sad song and leave a room full of manly soldiers in tears.
However, that part has no
real battle application. Instead, her voice can be used as a powerful tool of weaponry, commanding living and un-living alike. It's a strange process, but we'll begin with the simplest of items: a mere stick.
To command inanimate objects is a very simple action for Emilia. She must speak to it in Latin, as opposed to her native tongue, so that she doesn't coincidently command the crowds while she sings. Her commands are very static and unchangeable when she attempts to command an object. As well as this, she has to implant the idea of each action into the object each time she commands it, as it has no memory to speak of.
For example:
"Baculo, ortum." (literally translating into "Stick, rise.") will cause that stick that she has focussed her power on to rise slowly into the air. When she has felt that it has risen high enough, she can then say
"Baculo, prohibere." ("Stick, stop.") to cause it to remain hovering in mid-air. She can then either merely let it go or choose to have it do something else. Say she wanted to fling it at an opponent, she would pick a target with her mind and then merely say
"Impetus." (Attack.) The stick would then do what it would call an 'attack', which would be to fling itself in an attempt to injure them.
NB: She can cause most objects to break the laws of physics. The larger the object, the more Qi she requires to command it. At her current level, on a good day, at full energy, she can lift and then throw a full fuel tanker, truck and all. This would drain her outright, however. The formula for an inanimate object is "Object, command!"Next up is animals. Animals are, like objects, very easy to command. However, because she cannot implant the meaning of an action into an animal's mind before commanding it, she has to hope that the animal itself understands the command she is giving it. As such, she cannot break the laws of physics when commanding animals.
For example: Emilia sees a fox rather close to an opponent who doesn't know it's there. The fox is within earshot, as is the opponent who likely does not know what she can do. She shouts
"Vulpes, audi!" ("Fox, listen!") to get its attention. When she knows that attention has been brought, she waits until an opportune moment--the fox will continue to listen until she breaks control or control is forcibly broken. (This can be done a number of ways. She can be knocked out, go too far away, or have the control of the fox taken away from her by someone who can command animals.) When the time comes--say the opponent is showing their neck in the fox's direction--she can shout a command like
"Vulpes, mordebit cervicem suam exposita!" ("Fox, bite his exposed neck!")
Note that in this situation, the command that Emilia has given is a lot more direct and complex. Rather than merely telling the fox to bite, she has given a specific location for it to bite upon. This is because the fox may not understand her intent. It may instead opt to bite the man's ankle, because its closer and easier to reach. It may bite his hand, or his knee, or something that Emilia hasn't chosen. She cannot convey mere intention to an animal, because she is not psychic. This is the greatest disadvantage to her power--she requires explicit commands to anything living.
Finally, a sentient being. Unlike animals, beings are capable of resisting her commands. In this case, those commands change into suggestions, however they continue to resonate throughout the target's soul. The more they resonate, the louder and more annoying they get. This situation continues for approximately three rounds. If the target can ignore the suggestion for those three rounds, with it getting more intense each turn. If they cannot withstand the constant nagging, they can get rid of the command by simply doing as it says. In this situation, there are several more factors that will determine how the target reacts. She can also give commands over a large group, but the power is weakened by half. As well as this, she can sense when her command has been fulfilled--in the instance of a large group of people, she will feel the presences of her commands dwindle until it reaches zero.
Tone: The tone of voice that Emilia gives her command in is situational. Sometimes, a command will be more difficult to resist if she gives it in a tone that suits the situation/mood of the target. For instance: if she is in a bar, looking for a drink, she might find a man who seems to have a lot of money to throw away. She would walk up to him and whisper delicately in his ear, lips barely touching his lobe: "Vis sumo mihi paululum bibere. Borbonius saxis velit." ("You want to buy me a drink. Bourbon on the rocks, please.") In this situation where he has a good-looking woman pressed up against him and whispering seductively in his ear, it will be a lot harder for him to resist the command. Unless he's gay, which is another issue.
Feelings towards Emilia/others: Just because Emilia gives someone a command in a situational tone doesn't mean that they'll be more likely to listen. While it is usually true, sometimes that person(s) already has a predetermined feeling towards her that they can't shake off. For instance, they actually loathe her. She could give a command that involves battle, or that involves them working for their own benefit, and they'll be fine with doing so. If they were, however, given a command that works for Emilia's benefit, their hatred of her may overcome the power of her command and she'll be left unable to properly force their action. Which is why it's nice that she has millions of fans starving to hear her voice. The target may not have their thoughts on Emilia, either--in fact, it would be very difficult for her to seduce someone who was married, or madly in love with someone else.
Outside Forces: The target may not be alone. If this is the case, and the others with the target realize that something is afoot, they may be able to change the mindset of the target by either warning them, or by taking Emilia out of the picture. As such, it is a lot easier for her to manipulate human targets that are otherwise alone, or in the company of idiots.
Powers: Sometimes, the target may not be all that they seem. Some targets have powers that protect their mind, or prevent them from being able to fully undertake certain actions. They will, if they can be affected, attempt to completely fulfil the command that they have been given. If they cannot fully perform the commanded action, it will come to a stalemate and release the suggestion. For instance: If Emilia were to force someone to tell the truth, but the truth was made impossible to speak without a certain codeword, or without the presence of a certain person, then they would attempt to speak the truth but be unable to. At that point, Emilia would have to work out why they couldn't, and attempt to remove the functional block before trying again. This could go even further; the target may even be forced to die when they tell that truth. If this is the case, then the truth may only be partly-told, or even not at all. It is a requirement that Emilia makes sure that she knows what circumstances the target is under before attempting to command them.
Physical State: The physical state of Emilia's target and their senses can also affect how effective her commands are on their mind and soul. She can still affect deaf people, as not only do people usually hear her voice, but the Qi is what causes the resonance--and that does not specifically need to enter their body through the ears. However, this disallows for tone to affect them, making it weaker. On the other hand, most people who have lost one or more senses have more strength in their others--so if a blind person were to have more sensitive hearing, they would be able to recognize the tone more, and be more responsive to Emilia's commanding.
Emotional State: Emilia's emotions can have a resounding effect upon the effectiveness of her ability. This is in-line with tone, but also a separate entity, as it is more Qi-effective than Sound-effective. Say, for example, she needed something badly--something that could potentially save someone's life. If she strutted in confidently and commanded them to give her the item, they may not be overly responsive--however, if she were to walk in with a timid pace, almost in tears and feeling like she was about to let them down, then their response would be a whole lot different. Her emotions affect the strength of the Qi laced within her voice, and the stronger it is the more powerful her manipulating their emotions will be. NB: She does not actually take a character's emotion and change it. She instead nudges it towards a certain state, and the more emotional she is at the time, the more powerful the nudging is.
Out of all of her commands, Emilia has one last and very specific command that she will bring to the fore in the most dire of situations. She must know the target personally, and have an emotional connection with them in order to get it to work properly. She speaks their name (full name, mind you) and gives them the command:
"Non licet moriatur, quamdiu vixero!" ("You are not allowed to die, so long as I live!") At this point, the character's body is effectively put into a non-death stasis, wherein their body continues to leave no matter how many times they cross the brink into death.
It does not take a lot of power to stop them from dying once. It does not take a lot of power to stop them from dying five times. It does not take a lot of power to stop them from dying
sixty times. However, when someone is effectively dying once every second, ten minutes or more can be exceptionally draining. This is a last-ditch effort to preserve the life of someone she cares about. However, this has the potential to be a double-edged sword. She only has enough Qi to keep someone alive for three hours. After that, she will start eating away at her own life-force, starting with her unimportant processes. Firstly, she will lose her senses--in the order of touch, taste, smell, hearing, sight. She will lose the strength in her muscles and be unable to move. The processes will keep depleting until eventually the only thing left is the beating of her heart. After two more hours, her life force will also have depleted, and Emilia will die along with the target. This gives her a time limit of 5 hours, maximum. If her life force starts being depleted but she manages to release the target, then she will require a week to recover. In this time, her Qi will replace her life-force and she will permanently have a reduced pool of Qi to use, in exchange for full bodily function.

Character Background: When two young people are brought together by love and are sure they would be together for the remainder of their lives, one idea pops into their heads; starting a family. That is exactly what Leiko Okiel and Gerardo Bianchi decided on after falling head over hills for one another while on vacation in Milan. Gerardo instantly fell in love with Leiko and, though they were together for a short time, asked her to marry him. Leiko accepted and agreed to move to Messina with him. The two were meant for each other. Gerardo wanted to start a family right away, feeling that a child would be the stepping stone to continuing their lives, but a tragic discovery took place. Leiko was unable to have children. They were never given any real reason as to why this was, but after months of trying, the fact became apparent to them both. Devastated, they searched for anything to help them. Finally, the idea of a 'miracle cure' was pointed out to them. All Leiko had to do was drink lily tea with three drops of a special extract made from rose petals. As she was instructed, Leiko drank this 'miracle cure' for three months straight and their miracle was able to take place. Leiko was pregnant. Not long after that, the couple had their first baby, a daughter they chose to name Emilia Rose, after the tea that seemed to grant them the ability to have their child.
For the first several months, it appeared that, like most other babies, Emilia was just the same as every other. She kept her parents up all night with her crying, she begged for food and attention, and she just made their lives greater for it all. However, they felt that it wasn't enough. They wanted another child; and not too long after Emilia turned three, her sister was born. She was named Alessandra. Emilia, being three years old, did not quite understand that she wasn't quite going to get as much attention from her parents as she had before, and some may think that this was the moment that her powers first started to manifest. At first, it was just simple emotional manipulation; whenever Emilia felt a particularly powerful emotion, her parents were compelled to feel the same thing. However, as the years continued, Emilia's demands started to never be unanswered. She would ask for something, and her parents would feel like they had no choice but to do it for her. She slowly became more and more spoiled as a child, getting anything and everything she wanted at the drop of a hat. Having never really had to deal with a child before, her parents decided that it was just some kind of instinct that made them want to do what she said, and left it at that.
However, Alessandra never seemed to influence them in the same way. Instead, it started to seem more and more that Emilia was doing more than just being a spoilt brat. They decided to, at the ripe old age of six, get Emilia (and Alessandra, due to a certain incident with Gerardo getting turned into a duck) tested for any latent spiritual energies. Both daughters were found to have control, to a lesser degree, over the natural life energy, Qi. Further examination revealed that Emilia was capable of using internalized Qi, and it seemed to be at its strongest by her voice box. The days, weeks, months, and years passed by slowly as Emilia started to work out more and more what her powers gave her leverage to do. She started to manipulate students within her classes, and even her teachers began to succumb to her whims. Realizing the potential that their daughter had for great evil, Gerardo and Leiko decided to move to the safest possible place for those with powers: Artemis. Not long after the girls passed through their shared birthday, they packed up and left Messina, taking the next direct flight to this island city.
Now that she was somewhere where people understood power and were able to resist it, Emilia started to be capable of actually learning without cheating. Her constant demands to her parents had ceased; as they were no longer able to be affected (as it turns out, six years of manipulation leaves you rather resistant.) Instead, she started to flourish as a young lady, discovering that her powers had not only given her a silver tongue, but a golden voice. She was taken into tutelage under one of Artemis' few performing arts schools, and started to develop it as a trade--she mostly ignored everything else bar the fencing lessons that she had been made to take, in order to be able to defend herself from those who realized they were being duped. Eventually, at the age of sixteen, Emilia, now known as Lilli, broke out into the international music scene with her first album:
Rosa. It was a hit, and Emilia found quick fame. Her ability allowed her to get through even the harshest critics, and her emotional singing could cause even the most stoic audience member to shed a manly tear or two. At the age of nineteen she has almost a cult following, and is relishing in the fame.
She doesn't forget her family, however, knowing that they were instrumental to it. And of course, she will never forget her sister, or how important she is to her life. Not after that night. Never after that night.
23 October, 2097
She remembered the rain as it splashed down onto her back. It was late at night, and her sight was hazed by the streetlights, blurred by the falling torrent. Her knees were wet, but with a red liquid that she had only read about, or seen from pricks on her finger. The figure in front of her heaved in the sodden light, and Emilia could see the light fading from those mesmerizing orbs, upon pale flesh. "Alle..." Sher started to heave and cry, hearing the sirens as they approached from the distance. She had only barely noticed what was happening--a sister, dropping an item on the road. The screeching of tyres on the wet tarmac. The noise of metal hitting body, and the flight path that her form had taken. The car pulled away quickly, but Emilia cared not, for she had run to her sister's side with as much haste as possible. After calling the police, she attempted to keep her sister breathing.
"Alessandra, talk to me!" She hoped that her sister could still hear her, could still see her dripping face as the tears mixed in with the rain from her hair. "Alessandra, please! Just listen to me! Talk to me!" She tried, even using her powers on her own sister in order to get some sort of reaction. Nothing happened, and the heaving of her chest started to reduce. She had to do something, but what? Her powers were only good at manipulating people's minds, not their bodies. She didn't have anything on hand, but... the brain was the centre of the body systems, right? If the brain told it to keep going, would it keep going? She... what... would it work? Placing her hands onto Alessandra's chest, she closed her eyes and started to focus her energies as much as humanly possible. She needed to be specific.
"Alessandra Sophia Bianchi," she began. Her voice was shaky, and she wasn't even sure she could get the syllables out. She could no longer feel the tips of her fingers from the cold, "You are not allowed to die, so long as I live!" She didn't know if it would work. Her sister's breathing continued to fade, but she had to do it. It had to work. Even if it killed her.
