Personality

Personality: Sumika is a flat out energetic girl. She tends to be perky and generally has a smile on her face. She is the kind of person who won't hesitate to tackle someone to the ground when she is happy to see them. Her voice also tends to be quite loud, at least when she is in a really good mood. Her voice tends to be high pitched and in eternally excited in these instances. At the same time, there is a sort of gentleness from her. When she is in one of her calmer moods, she has an extremely soft smile. It is the kind of smile that can, quite simply, put one at peace from looking at it. During these rare instances where she is calm, she has a sort of elegance and beauty in her movements. She act quite perky and innocent most of the time, but there is a sense of maturity. She is a strange mix of those two sides to her.

She is loyal, but not to a fault. She places great value in friends and family, and is not the type to betray them. Though at the moment, do to certain circumstances, she has been separated from all of her family, she cares about them more than anyone in the world. If one of her relatives turned to a path she doesn't agree with, she would try and bring them back. However, as much as it would sadden her, she would be able to break relations if necessary. Yet, that is only if all else fails, and she will still try to bring the person back (she'll just be smart and not do anything that would get herself or her friends hurt). The same goes for friends, but she holds family a bit higher. However, the closest of friends she will consider family, calling them varying "family" terms, though generally brother and sister. The one person she would never give up on, though, is her brother Snopy. No matter what happens, she couldn't imagine lifting a finger to hurt him. She would only ever hurt Snopy if it somehow benefited him in some way. If he ever changed to the side of "evil", she would do absolutely everything possible to bring him back. However, she feels that as long as she stays close to him (relationship-wise) he wouldn't have the heart to change sides.

When it comes to fighting, her stance is that if it is a practice or fun fight, that it is enjoyable. If it is a serious fight, it isn't her favorite. She can enjoy real fights at times, but generally she just wishes to get them over with. However, when she gets serious she can be scary, with her face looking rather menacing comparatively to her normal look. Yet when the fight isn't serious, she can get VERY crazy in terms of how into it she gets. It contradicts her personality in a way, but it seems fighting is in her blood. Her morals basically line up with what one would call "good". She doesn't like innocent people dying, or death in general. In fact, she absolutely fears death. However, it is not her own death she fears. It is that of others, stemming from when her brother died. This causes two things. She gets extremely scared when she thinks someone has a chance at dying, to the point of crying. Hell, if someone disappears she might burst into tears imagining the possibilities. The second effect, is she is EXTREMELY clingy to anyone she is close too. She checks up on them a lot, and tries to spend a lot of time with them. She does occasionally enjoy solitude, but she needs to be around people most of the time. The fear of death, however, does not hamper her ability to fight. If anything, it makes her even more determined to win as she has things to protect.

Despite her fear, she is an extremely determined person. She will NEVER give up, no matter how hopeless a situation may seem, because it is in her nature to look for hope when there is no hope. She will NEVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE sit back and allow something to threaten what she cares about, fighting with every ounce of her being if it means protecting those she cares about. This seemingly impossible willpower makes her frightening when situations are intense. If she gave up while protecting something for any reason, then the universe probably just ended. She isn't stubborn about small things, this determination shows itself when it comes to the preservation of lives. Overall though, Sumika is a very loving girl, and any who earn her friendship have a devoted ally on their side. She will always stick by them, and her affectionate side will cheer up just about anyone. She will always be there, until the very end.

Background

Character Background: Sumika Saika was born in 1857 in Osaka Japan. Born to a loving mother and a goof of a father, she seemed like a somewhat lucky child. She was born exactly one year after her brother, thus making her exactly one year younger. She was a happy little baby, except for one thing. The day she was born, while her mother was holding her, she saw her brother. Immediately she felt attached to her older sibling, however her brother, even at one year old, seemed like he wanted nothing to do with her. For three years this went on. When she was in the same room as her brother she would try her hardest to get to him, but either something prevented her, or more often, he'd leave before she could. This made her very sad, and made her cry often. Her mother Yoshine would often try to get her son to like her daughter, but it was to no avail. That is, until one night when she was 3. One night Sumika had a nightmare and was scared to death. She got up and escaped her crib, looking for someone since she was scared. Instead of her mother, like most children would, she ended up searching for her brother. She made her way to his room and found him, actually awake. Snopy obviously planned on standing up and walking out. But Sumika didn't give him the chance. She grabbed onto his arm and looked straight into Snopy's eyes. Obviously Snopy understood just how sweet she was from this action, and he went and hugged Sumika. Sumika hugged back, and immediately the fear was blocked out by the joy and comfort she felt.

What she looked like at the time

From that point on she was very close to her brother. She got along with her family perfectly well. She wasn't the genius that her brother was (though she wasn't stupid), but she made up for it with determination. She was blissfully unaware of Snopy's arrogance that was building, possibly because he treated her better than he treated anyone. The only time he really fought with someone while in her presence was with their father. Their parents were arguing more and more as the years went on, all because of their father. Sumika was often brought practically to tears, but her brother was always there to comfort her. Thanks to him she was usually able to calm down. However, Sumika's greatest trauma came from shortly after she turned 17. One day there was a knock on the door, and when Sumika opened it, she screamed louder than anyone had ever heard. It was her brother's dead body, brought by a Russian man who was friends with their mother. He found Snopy's body on the ground, a bullet in the skull. When her mother came in, she gasped, but remained calm and talked to the man. Sumika wasn't paying attention, but as she cried she thought she heard her mother say he was a Sug-something.

Her mother did her best to comfort her, but damage was done. It was this event that gave Sumika an extreme fear of death in all forms. She became depressed, and nothing could shake her from her depression. This went on for the next year before something happened. Sumika was out, sitting in front of her house when she, from seemingly nowhere on this sunny day, was struck by a freak bolt of lighting. There was no known cause of the lightning, it just struck her. Upon hearing the crack her mother ran out, but it was too late. Sumika's body was completely fried. Sumika's spirit was standing next to her body, staring in horror at her own death. She was about to cry when Yoshine turned to her and grabbed onto her wrist. Sumika was shocked, since she was aware she was a ghost. All she heard from her mother was, "No, I refuse to lose both of my children, come with me!" Yoshine took Sumika inside and told her to stay for awhile, then Yoshine left. Soon her mother returned with the very man that had brought Snopy's dead body back. Soon it was explained. Sumika was told about who this man was, what he was, and all about the cycle of life and death. She even had the man explain in great depth about the Sugiura. Her mother then gave her instructions on exactly what to do. She was to be sent to the Sugiura dimension by this man, she was told she was to obtain a Guardian Beast for protection, and then she was told to return to this home asap.

She nodded, it had taken literally hours for all of this information to be relayed, but she remembered it all. She was too shocked to forget at the moment. The Sugiura performed a Konso and Sumika was sent to the Sugiura dimension. When she arrived, she found out she was right on the border of Guardian Beast lands. After getting some info from some Sugiura she found nearby, she took a deep breath and entered. She wandered for awhile. The area was quite stormy at this point in time, and it was raining heavily. Sumika almost wondered if she was to be struck by lightning again, but something compelled her to keep going. Eventually she came across something strange. It was a guardian beast, but a somewhat rare one. It was a living manifestation of electricity, a storm elemental. According to human legends, they were magical entities that only appeared during powerful lightning storms, that came down on a bolt of lightning. The elemental came close to her, before it's form shifted. It became a beautiful woman, fully clothed in a kimono. The two interacted for awhile before a contract was formed, and it became Sumika's Guardian Beast. Sumika remembered what she was told and her instructions on how to get back to her mother. She immediately went back home to the WOTL, and found her way back to Osaka, where she reunited with her family.

It is here she lived for a long while. They occasionally had to move to a different spot, for their lifespans outlived many around them, but because they never became widely known they were able to remain in Osaka, as eventually when they moved back to a certain area everyone there who knew them would be dead. Over the course of the time they lived there, Yoshine and Sumika's father eventually split up, because it turned out over the years he slowly turned into a cheating asshole, and Yoshine would have none of it. It was also after the split that Sumika was told just what Yoshine was, an Arrancar. All in all, they lived a happy life, though Sumika never forgot her brother. She knew, however, that Snopy was still alive somewhere. She had to find him, no matter what. So she often went on searches for him, going to random towns in Japan. She even occasionally visited the Sugiura dimension, as he could have ended up there. What would happen with her powers, and where her search would take her, only time would tell.

Natural Abilities

Electricity Manipulation: Sumika's main power is the power to control electricity in all its forms. Whether it is generated from her body, lightning that strikes from the sky, or simply that coming out of an electrical socket, she has the power to control it. The results all depend on what she chooses to do. She can simply manipulate the electricity around her (and generated from her body) and move it at her will. She can gather it and charge it in order to launch a blast of electricity. She has free reign over the electricity she puts under her control.

However, she can't control electricity if it is tied to someone stronger than herself (such as them manipulating it, or someone using an electricity attack). She must be stronger in order to influence that already under the control of another. If equal, she is likely to simply cancel out the influence of the person should they both try manipulating the same bits of energy. However, against those her level this does allow her to cancel out electricity attacks and nullify them, as they will simply dissipate. If she tried on something stronger, she had better move the hell out of the way (that is, if there is more to it than electricity, as stated later, she is immune to electricity). Finally, the amount she can control at one time is based on her overall power. The stronger she is, the greater the output when it comes to total electricity. Of course learning to control her power is another situation entirely.

Immunity to Electricity: Sumika is immune to electricity, lightning, or anything else of the sort. Someone could pump a seemingly endless torrent of electricity into her body and she would take no damage. It is simply just filtered away from her body.

Electrical Energy: Sumika has another energy source from which she can draw from, electrical energy. Electrical energy is exactly how it sounds, energy derived from anything electric based, be it lightning or that which comes out of a socket. By using this, she can use all of her electrical based powers for a longer period and drain less spiritual energy in the process. Sumika's body can store a large amount of electrical energy, about as much as she can store spiritual energy, if not slightly more.

This energy source can only be applied to Sumika's electric based abilities. Anything non electric related cannot be used through this energy, though her electric based abilities can be used through spiritual energy. This energy CAN be converted into spiritual energy, but it must be done all in one shot, as Sumika can only do this once within a short span (one thread). She does it in a 1 to 4 ratio, meaning if her store of electrical energy was full, she would restore her spiritual energy by 25% (if she chose to convert all of it).

This energy source can be restored in various ways. She can absorb electricity (it can't be anything she sent out, it has to be an outside source) into her body which will go directly to this store. However, how much she can restore like this is limited. For every 5% she uses, she can restore 1%. Meaning she can restore up to 20% of her electric energy like this over the course of a thread. This is the only way mid combat that she can restore this energy, so if she is in an area without electricity (and not fighting someone who uses it) she cannot restore this energy, period. This energy also restores slowly over time, much like her spiritual energy. Thus if given enough time to rest, it will all come back to her.

The Sumika Frequency: Sumika is a complete anomaly. Her electricity resonates at a spiritual frequency unlike any other. This frequency is an anomaly in every way shape and form. It is completely unique to Sumika. There is not another being or source that has electricity that resonates at the same frequency. In fact, it is completely impossible for another being to mimic or generate it. It is in a dead space, that no technology or other spiritual power can mimic. This doesn't even match up with her Guardian Beast. Her Guardian Beast cannot even mimic this frequency, despite being a storm elemental, the very essence of electricity. This frequency of electricity is entirely from Sumika, which actually means if somehow Sumika lost her Guardian Beast she'd retain her electrical abilities from her Guardian Beast. If she achieved Kyuu Kyou and lost her Guardian Beast, she'd even be able to continue strengthening those electric abilities. This frequency, and Sumika herself, are an anomaly in this world.

Guardian Beast

Origin: Sumika's origin is electricity. Electricity denotes uncontrollable, spontaneity, and randomness, all of which are traits that are shown by Sumika. She inevitably does what she wants, which is sometimes on a whim and on occasion quite random.

Natural form

When not in her natural form, Sumika's Guardian Beast takes the form of a 25 year old woman, dressed in a Japanese Kimono. Her hair is long and blue, reaching down to her butt. She is actually somewhat tall, standing 5 inches taller than Sumika. She has an almost petite body, though she isn't as small framed as Sumika.

Guardian Beast Personality: Arashi is just as unpredictable as electricity denotes. She is generally a rather energetic individual. The words that leave her mouth and the things she wants to do are generally random and spontaneous. She may be talking to Sumika like normal and suddenly want to go see a forest, or something along those lines. Her bouts of randomness rarely make any sense to anyone. However, she fits Sumika perfectly, as they can both be quite random. She honestly considers Sumika good company, which is why she made the contract in the first place. They have a sort of understanding with each other, and Arashi will do her part in helping Sumika achieve her desires. Oddly, Arashi's bouts of randomness also serve as a way to teach Sumika things, as Arashi knows a lot about the world that Sumika either doesn't understand or her innocence makes her not think about. It isn't unheard of for Arashi to comment, revealing Sumika's true feelings on a matter before Sumika even knows it herself. Nor is it unheard of for Sumika to suddenly be getting a lecture straight out of the Kama Sutra. She serves as a kind of life guide, though her randomness makes her unreliable when trying to get from point A to point B, as her directions could lead you to a completely different place than you were trying to get to.

Joushou

Joushou Appearance:
Joushou: Joushou is the first stage of a Sugiura's power. This is like their Shikai. It is only tapping into a small percentage of their power, exactly 25%. It is mainly the form that they dream of, and it is up to the Guardian beast to decide if the wish is to be granted or not.

Zenou

Zenou Appearance:
Zenou Abilities: This form is their version of Bankai. This takes many years to learn, and then many many more to perfect. This is only tapping into 50% of their power. Their speed, strength, stamina, and durability increases quite a bit.

Kyuu Kyou

Kyuu Kyou Appearance:
Mystic Eyes: Something that only those that have achieved Kyuu Kyou can have. Mystic Eyes are something special about the user's eyes. They are usable in any form, but the realization of 100% of the user's power allowed for the user to gain a special ability that involves the eyes. See here for a temporary Mystic Eyes list.
Kyuu Kyou Abilities: The final stage of a Sugiura's power. This is 100% of their power, and their soul. Their abilities are increased substantially, and most of the time Kyuu Kyou is forbidden to be released. Few have mastered it, for it is so taxing to release it. It is manifested as the true form of one's soul.
