Basics
Name: Motochika Chosokabe
True Age: 25
Gender: Male
Personality: Motochika is a pirate and adventurer at heart. He has no ambitions of any kind of conquest or great achievements. He is content to spend his days sailing the seas and hunting for treasure. He is much more at home on the sea than on land. He takes great offense when Shikoku or anywhere he happens to control is attacked, and will defend it with great fervor. He does have a great sense of pride, and if he feels it has been insulted or damaged he will try to fix it. He will fight the offender if they purposely insulted his pride, or if they are someone he shouldn't fight for some reason, find another way to restore it.
Motochika has a very tough personality. He considers himself and his men ruffians. They aren't afraid to lie in a watery grave. When he offers a challenge, he often adds something along the lines of "If you think you're man enough." He takes pleasure in fighting, and is extremely confident in his abilities, to the point some may think he is arrogant. Even if he knows it's a trap, he will go charge in head first to take out his opponent. When it comes to trash talk, few can beat him. His speech tends to be rough, and not always grammatically correct for the language he is speaking (using the word ain't for instance). Though his sentence structure isn't THAT bad, it is just his way of speaking. He also tends to make sea related references when he speaks (instead of saying someone has balls he might say they have ballast below deck). Motochika is also ridiculously bold. If he and his crew were on land and came across a marching army, he would go right up to their leader and state he'd need to "borrow" their horses. He would never surrender to anyone. He also claims there is no need for him to cheat when he is as good as he is.
Despite this tough exterior, he is a kind and good man. His crew has become affectionate to their leader. When innocent people are in trouble, he doesn't care where they come from, he will offer them refuge. If someone who he calls "honest folk" tried to join him in a fight, he wouldn't allow it, claiming they are needed somewhere else. He will never leave his own men behind, and will jump at the opportunity to rescue them. He also despises dastardly acts, such as someone killing their own men or captives.
» Likes: The Sea, Adventure, Shikoku
» Dislikes: Any who threaten Shikoku, Curs who use dastardly methods to get what they want

Natural Abilities
Natural Abilities: Fighting skill: Motochika is a skilled fighter from experience. He is well versed in both unarmed and armed (armed with an anchor). His unarmed fighting style may seem like unrefined in ways, but he can use it to the point where he can match (and sometimes beat) those who've had formal training. He is also extremely flexible, able to kick someone's head while keeping one leg on the ground. His unarmed attacks are a combination of his feet and his fists, something some people cannot do. When it comes to that anchor, he is extremely skilled. He can control that thing with great precision and hit his mark almost every time. Even when he throws it out and only has the chain in his hand, he has complete control over it (which is very difficult). He is truly a master with his anchor.
Qi Abilities
Type: Jìnéng
Appearance change: N/A
Abilities: Iron Skin: Motochika's Qi is tuned towards strengthening the body rather than rapid healing, thus it is only natural he'd have protective layering. His Iron Skin is quite strong, much weaker foes could slash at him and their swords would simply bounce off. He is not the easiest to cut into, and his muscles are toned quite well. Even if they do overpower the Iron Skin, the force of the strike will be likely reduced at least somewhat unless their attack was overwhelming compared to Motochika's level of power.
Open Fire: Motochika is capable of firing off a Cero-like blast. However, he generally does his with a twist. Rather than firing off a regular blast, he customizes his. When fired off, it the attack looks like a flaming cannonball. That is precisely what it is. At the center is super condensed black energy that looks like a cannonball. The entirety of this core is surrounded by flames. Once charged up, he can fire this at great velocities, and they generally cause a fiery explosion.
Fire Control: Motochika's Qi powers allow him to generate and control fire. He can basically create fire from thin air using his Qi, and then he can control it as he wishes. It also allows him to control any natural fire and other fire user's fire IF he is stronger than them, so he can overpower their influence over it. Generally, he uses this power to overlay his physical attacks with fire or to create a blast of fire. Rarely does he use a "free form" control over it, though he is capable of it. For instance, if he swings his anchor he may overlay it with fire so a successful strike also hits them with flames. He also does this to his limbs, such as kicking with fire covering it.
The other way in which he uses this power, is to create blasts of fire. For instance, he could cover his anchor in fire and slam it into the ground and a geyser of fire would erupt all around him. He is can also do this with his fist, or even without any physical movement if he tries. Basically, the things he can do with his fire is only limited by how strong he is, but he usually fights using the aforementioned methods.
Nets: Motochika can condense his Qi into a sort of net, like a fishing net. Red energy condenses in a set location and condenses until it looks just like a fishing net. He can generate it in front of himself and have it launch out at high speeds at his foe. He could also attempt to create one under his opponent and have it come up around them and tangle them. He could even set them as traps, and if Motochika is careful, they would be difficult to detect or sense. One the opponent is tangled, they are stuck until Motochika dismantles the net of they find a way out.
Despite looking like regular nets, they are actually quite strong. If a person is stronger than Motochika and has decent strength (physically or some spiritual based attack) they can break out without a problem. However, breaking out proves rather difficult to those weaker than Motochika and those who have been weakened. If they are equal in strength, they can break out, but it will usually take at least a little effort. However, the net slightly restricts spiritual based attacks. Thus non-physical strikes will be a little bit weaker than usual. This won't really exist when the captured foe is stronger than Motochika, and if the person is a lot weaker than Motochika, they will find MUCH of their power restricted. It is small for those Motochika's level.
Anchor: Motochika's anchor is actually created entirely from his Qi. He can condense Qi into his anchor, and he can return the anchor to Qi form and recollect the energy. This basically makes this cost no Qi energy unless somehow the energy cannot return to his body. However, Motochika rarely returns his anchor into Qi, only if someone somehow stole it (which is almost impossible). Even if it is knocked out of his hand, he will go hand to hand until he can grab it again. This anchor is extremely durable, and the stronger Motochika is, the more durable it becomes.
Due to being made of Qi, this allows its form to change a bit. The chain attached to the anchor can extend and retract, allowing long range attacks without letting go of the weapon. Just as easily as it extends, it can retract. The force of the retraction is such that if it wrapped around something, it would likely yank it across the field before untangling itself. Even if someone caught the anchor and used the chain to their advantage, Motochika could just make the anchor deconstruct in a moment and within 5 seconds have a new one, thus making grabbing the chain an ineffective method to stop Motochika.
Finally, by using his Qi Motochika can give his anchor a sort of propulsion, by making his energy push the anchor along at great speeds. He uses this to sail across the water at really high speeds despite only using an anchor. The anchor can also go flying through thin air or even sail across the ground. When he does this out of water, usually there is fire along the back of the anchor. He uses this as high speed movement, both in and out of battle. He moves MUCH faster while on this anchor, and he isn't slow without the anchor. One of his techniques involve flying high into the air and rushing at the ground as fast as possible, the collision resulting in a truly giant blast of fire. Generally, he screams "ramming speed" when he uses this technique. He can use this technique to travel the world, the distance and speed depending on his energy reserves.
Past & Roleplay Sample
Character Background: Motochika was born on the Island of Shikoku, where he spent much of his early life. Motochika always loved Shikoku, but he also had a great wanderlust. His family would find he'd run off to some unknown corridor. As worried as they'd get, he'd always come back, and with some treasure in hand. He was raised in a town that had quite a few rough characters. Sometimes they were thugs, adventurers, and something he liked the most, pirates. It was a lively upbringing, but he was always a good child at heart. He never stole from townspeople or hurt anyone, and he never had a run in with the law.
Motochika would always listen to the great tales of adventure and danger from the passerby's. His favorite stories, though, were always the pirate stories. These stories had a huge impact on Motochika. The older he got, the stronger he became, and the more adventurous. The moment he was old enough to, he bought his own ship and started to sail the seas around Shikoku. Whenever he was at port, he'd trade stories with others like him. Motochika had some good stories from his adventures, and some of the stories caught the interest of other adventuring types. Over time, he developed a crew who would follow his every command.
Though they sailed the seas as pirates, they were not evil people. In fact, they usually didn’t pillage innocent people and the like. They simply hunted for treasure wherever it may be. They built up a great wealth of resources for Shikoku, and as of late, have been developing some sort of huge project. What their goals are and what they could be working so hard on (secretly no less) remains to be seen.
